At the Kassel train station

At the Kassel train station, the wait to buy a ticket at the office was ridiculous, and there were only 3 staff members while a lot of people were waiting; I just went and bought it online. I had to buy the later train ticket because the online site did not provide the most recent one, so I just bought the next available time online.

Regarding the availability of the later train online, rail carriers may apply booking cut-off times for same-day travel. In some cases, tickets are not made available for purchase shortly before departure, particularly when there is limited time remaining for the reservation process to be completed. As a distributor, Rail Europe follows the availability and booking conditions provided by the rail operators.

Certainly easy to use.
A little short on time to complete a booking when multiple journeys were wanted - though that may be the train company here.
Also for a long journey I would have liked to have had an option of choosing seats.

Tried to book a train for a Saturday in…

Tried to book a train for a Saturday in September and it kept saying it wouldn't take my credit card I found out there wasn't even a train scheduled on Saturday, but it showed it available on the schedule.

Finally found a train to a different city that was actually available but it still wouldn't take my credit card ending up having to use PayPal took a couple hours to get it done

Problem with your ordering system

I placed my first order and it went through perfectly however,on my second order your website wouldn’t accept my credit card. I tried a second credit card and even called my credit card company, but there is no transaction seen on their end. You have an issue with your ordering system.

This is why your credit card company was unable to see any declined or pending transactions on their end, as the requests did not reach them.

These security measures are designed to help protect customers and prevent fraudulent activity. While they can occasionally affect genuine transactions, they are an important safeguard for maintaining a secure booking environment.

Based on our review, the issue was therefore not related to your credit cards themselves, as evidenced by the fact that your initial booking was processed successfully. Rather, the repeated payment attempts in a short period of time caused the subsequent transactions to be flagged by our payment security system.

If this situation occurs in the future, we recommend avoiding repeated payment attempts in quick succession. Instead, please contact our Support Team, who can review the situation and provide guidance to help you complete your booking as quickly as possible.

Pressure to book quickly…

I dislike the timer because I was trying to book tickets for 3 people on 3 trains on 3 days all on Interrail and not make mistakes. The reason I did the bookings all at once was it said only one booking fee, but in fact it charged me 3 booking fees (grump). Also when you select the ticket type (1st / 2nd) at the beginning, there is nothing to confirm this in the booking summary. So you have to go back to check, which means you have to re-enter details.

Each trip can only be held for a limited period before the booking expires and must be restarted. These time limits are set by the rail operators managing the inventory and can vary depending on the carrier and service. As a distributor, Rail Europe does not control these timeframes.

To help avoid bookings expiring during the process, we recommend having passenger details and payment information ready before starting the reservation.

Regarding the class of service selected, we would like to clarify that this information remains visible during the booking process. In particular, the fare conditions displayed in the basket indicate the class of travel selected, allowing customers to review this information before completing their purchase without needing to return to previous steps.

Regarding fees, we would like to clarify that Rail Europe applies a booking fee to standard point-to-point ticket bookings. For Eurail and Interrail passholder reservations, a reservation fee is charged instead. These fees help cover the administrative costs of maintaining the platform, investing in technological improvements, and providing customer support.

We would also like to note that customers who purchase their Eurail or Interrail Pass directly through Rail Europe benefit from a waiver of the Rail Europe seat reservation fee on eligible Eurostar, SNCF and Trenitalia reservations booked through our platform.

Perhaps the best way to book rail…

Perhaps the best way to book rail travel in Europe, so much simpler than the other options and particularly helpful when booking complex Interrail/Eurail reservation. Amazing benefit of being the only place you can do this and specify seating preferences for the TGV! Will be using again.

Great Overall Experience

Very clean train car. Smooth ride. Easy booking process. Very spacious and comfortable seating space. Overall everything was very good. The only bad thing I can say was that the bathroom was a little smelly (but most public loos are).
