I like Purchase Power bc of the conscience. My tv went out and I didn’t have money to buy one so I got it through PP. I dislike the price hike. Does each state or employer have a different selection o... See more

Purchasing Power offers an industry-leading employee purchase program. From its inception, the company has helped private and public employees buy important products through installment payments via payroll deduction. We’ve always been more than an employee store; our goal as a voluntary benefit provider is to help people build a better life. Our payroll deduction purchasing program was one of the first of its kind. Originally we sold only computers, but over the years we expanded our catalog to include thousands of products and services--from electronics to major appliances, from furniture to vacation packages--made easier through automatic paycheck deduction.

The options for things to purchase is very extensive. The desktop I purchased was great and having the money come right out of my paycheck is one less hassle!!!

I’m a little disapointed. I ordered a phone which was in stock at the time of purchase and was looking forward to said phone, only to check my emails a week and some days later to find it had been cancelled, when I called they told me it was because the phone wasn’t in stock. Which was not true because I was looking at it.

horrible company. tried to use their vacation packet. booked a hotel and air fare. There was a snafu and they did not book the air fare still wanted me to pay for the hotel refused to cancel. I will be taking them to court. I hope AFGE stops endorsing them on their website. The customer service is trash. Rude foreigners, who don't seem to understand english

The travel part of purchasing power comes in handy because you don't pay up-front, but not being able to change, make corrections, or cancel is a pain. I was on vacation and the hotel I choose from purchasing power is a joke and a rip-off. The hotel is dirty and very nasty. Purchasing Power will not let me cancel, nor make any changes so my kids and I were forced to stay in a dirty hotel. They should allow changes. My airport travel was awful as well, and I couldn't make changes to that either. We had a 3 hour delay due to staffing with no compensation. The car rental place was horrible as well. They sold all of there cars and with purchasing power it is paid in advanced, so you can't make cancelations, no refunds, there are no other options. So I was there for 2.5 hours waiting for a car, which put me a day late checking into the hotel with no compensation because purchasing power doesn't give refunds when bad things happen that are out of our control. This is bad business and they are making money while we are stuck paying the high full price even though we are losing.

I really like this company. However, I recently made an order, like I usually do, and the whole order was not completed. Two items were not sent and I have called (3x) several times to get a credit. It has now been over a month. At this point I have to make complaints online ( here and BBB) to maybe get this corrected. Hopefully.

What I did not like was I received a TV the box was damaged. When I took the TV out of the box and plugged it up the screen was ruined. I tried using the All State insurance 3 year protection plan, they said because it was not a manufacturer issue. I spent all that money and I never got to use my product. It has been over a year and I am not able to afford a new TV. I will never buy one from here again. I am very careful about my purchases now.

Terrible company to buy from. Wont replace items that was damaged by their 3 party logistics company. Will try to blame it on the manufacturer and won't take responsibility and abide by their terms and conditions. Will never use this company again.

I appreciate that Purchasing Power has provided me with the option to get a lot of things over time that I may not have been able to get otherwise. I am super frustrated over my most recent purchase that I still have to pay for even though, I was not able to use the full product. I purchased a rental car/hotel package and WAS NOT told that I had to have a major credit card on file. I do not have an active credit card that could be used to secure the rental, so I was not able to rent a vehicle. This should've been thoroughly explained to me, since all sales are final. This was a very expensive purchase and I feel like I am being punished by having to pay for something that did not benefit me. The reservation does state that a debit card could be used. I attempted to use my Debit Card but was not allowed to.

I purchased a tennis bracelet. When I received the tennis bracelet the DIAMONDS WERE CLOUDY. You couldn't tell they were diamonds. It looked cheap and awful. I called customer service to return the bracelet and was CHARGED $35.00 to RETURN the bracelet. They said, "BECAUSE I DIDN'T LIKE IT". IF it had been what I ordered it wouldn't have been a problem. DIAMONDS ARE SUPPOSE TO BE CLEAR NOT CLOUDY. I'M NOT STUPID!! I've purchased A LOT of items through Purchasing Power but I've learned my lesson on jewelry. IT'S RIDICULOUS TO CHARGE ME $35.00 FOR THEIR MISTAKE. I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD'VE ACCEPTED THAT BRACELET either. BUYERS BE WARE ON JEWELRY!!! You WILL be charged to ship junk back. I purchased a Movado watch and it's BEAUTIFUL. That's the reason I tried the bracelet. NO MORE JEWELRY PURCHASE FROM PURCHASING POWER FOR ME. Have a blessed holidays.

Purchasing power was awesome when it came to purchasing items with no money down with a payment you can afford.

I purchased portable air conditioner made by Airemax in June of 2024. At purchase it said the AC comes with a warranty (which it says the same thing now if you look up the unit). Well it is making a crazy noise and I called to get it fixed. They told me it does not have a warranty. First and last purchase.

I ordered a 9x12 rug for over $800, and when it arrived, it was in awful condition—mildew and a nauseating odor. I contacted customer service immediately after opening it, hoping to exchange it. However, despite months of trying, the company has refused to honor my request for a return or exchange.
I've been told they don't have the correct information to contact the manufacturer, and I’ve now missed the manufacturer's warranty period due to their delays. What's more, I have recorded conversations with both a supervisor and an employee where they admitted that they mistakenly denied my exchange because they were looking at the wrong call date stamps and they thought I was referring to the 8 x 10 rug from the same order. They initially agreed to process the exchange and said I’d receive follow-up information via email. After waiting weeks, I reached out again—only to be told the exchange was a mistake and that the investigation process would start all over.
This started in September, and it’s now December 19—over three months later. The company has made no effort to resolve the situation. I paid for a defective rug through a deduction from my paycheck and still have no solution. They will not offer to refund the money they've taken and credit the remaining balance back to my account. They also will not discontinue payroll deductions. They are stealing.
I would not recommend this company based on my experience. Their customer service is unresponsive, and they have shown no accountability for the issues with the product. Buyer beware.

The wait time to speak to a Customer Service person was ridiculous. I get that it's the Holiday's but seriously, 86+ minutes is a bit extreme, yah?! After about 15 minutes, I was finally asked if I wanted someone to call me! And the fact I was told to contact UPS to inquire about my package was not right. Purchase Power is the vendor, you should have assisted better.

This company offers a convenient way for employees to buy products and pay in smaller increments, but it’s a predatory company that exploits lower-income people. Despite the enticing deal with no credit check or interest, customers pay double or triple what normal retailers charge due to astronomical shipping fees and return policies.
I recently ordered two pairs of earrings as gifts and was charged the same shipping price for both items. They included 1 product information card and 1 cleaning cloth for both pairs, which I appreciated. However, when I asked for another cloth, they refused, stating this was complimentary and were not able to send another one.
The customer service is appalling. They prey on lower-income people and don’t offer decent service. I can’t return the items since I opened the package, and they would charge a $35 return fee and I would pay to ship it back.
This is directly from the paperwork- What is Purchasing Power's Return Policy?
Small (parcel) items that aren’t portable electronics
Most purchases ship with UPS, Federal Express or the United States Postal Service. If one of these parcel items is damaged, defective, the wrong item or not as described, you can return it within 30 days at no charge. You can also work directly with your manufacturer or warranty provider to repair or replace the item.
If you’ve changed your mind about the item and it’s unopened and unused, you can return it within 30 days for a $35 return fee (+ tax if applicable).
I actually went and got the pricing as if I were to have shipped every one of the items from my order the same way they did and the actual shipping was $62.18- they did not package anything BUT the earrings the other items came from Best Buy directly and from Brainstorm directly.
So the earrings that they shipped in a bubble envelope that was weighed for the charging purposes of 1 pound would have cost a normal shipper (not one with a corporate negotiated rate like they have) $13.05 for both pairs UPS ground they charged me $26.
I had 2 soundbars that were in the manufacturers packaging sent from Best Buy weighing 7 pounds each and would cost me $17.04 each they charged me $28 each and they never even touched the product.
I had candles that they charged me $15 to ship that I would have paid $14.55 ( this is the only item that I was charged a reasonable rate for). Again they NEVER touched this product either as it is coming from Brainstorm the company that they buy it from.
So they charged me Shipping & Handling: $97.00. That is an extra $34.82 for shipping and handling and they handled one bubble pack.
The markup on the products was:
- Tocca Candelina Viaggio 3 Mini Candle Set: $75. I found it on eBay and Neiman Marcus $45. $30 markup
- Delamore earrings: They are an exclusive Purchase Power brand that has no presence anywhere except on sites like pissedoffconsumer.com and reddit. They are probably bubble gum machine quality.
- Insignia soundbars from Best Buy: $39.99 with a gift with purchase. Purchasing Power charges $85.03. The markup is $45.04. The MSRP at Best Buy is $79.99. They charge even more than the MSRP.
SENDING ANOTHER “COMPLIMENTARY” CLOTH IS TOO MUCH FOR THEM?????
You say to contact your customer service but you must not have read my complaint.... Your lack of customer service is what set me off.

This really is the best way to make big purchases. I have purchased several things this way and because it comes out of my paycheck I don't have to worry about missing payments.

My experience has been by far the WORST EVER!!! My order was placed 10/21 and I have yet to receive my order. I have called on a daily to get updates and every agent has rushed me off the phone and told lies as to when I should receive my order. I have had very long call times which has lead to agent hanging up on me or not coming back to the line to assist. I will NEVER order anything from this company again. They are the worst

I have bought several things from them and they are always delivered quickly. No buyers remorse here. Payroll deduction is the only way I ever would have been able to get a new mattress, DJI drone, and Meta Quest 3!

They are NOT BBB accredited! There are numerous accounts and complaints on the BBB website of fraudulent and illegal practices. Purchasing Power will bill you for a product you never receive, and a defective product as well. They will overbill you, and when you want them to pick up the item, they will say the order was canceled but still bill you for it. In my opinion, a class action lawsuit should happen.
All this information was taken from the Better Business Bureau complaint page online. My son hasn't received the tv he ordered from them a month ago, and they've given SEVERAL dates of when delivery date is. They keep pushing up the date, lying about it.
