Solar and Powerwall 3 Installation

We had Princes LHS install Solar and a Tesla PW3, The installation was neat and tidy, cable runs are discreet and the work was completed in good time.
Our main reason for going for a company in the area was incase of future issues which is where they really shine, We had an issue after a few months installation by an separate electrician working on our home who blew the main power wall fuse by the time anyone realised what happened it was out of hours however the team at Princes offered to help and didn't want to leave us with no power overnight no matter the time.

A very professional install.

I chose Princes LHS because I wanted a Samsung heat pump and they are a Samsung approved installer with good reviews. It was a good choice. They are very knowledgeable and the installation was handled very well. I went on to have a Tesla home battery and solar panels installed by them and everything has been great.

Princes LHS have installed an ASHP, solar and battery.

Princes LHS have installed an ASHP and a solar system, including a Tesla Powerwall 3, at our property.
The installation was very smooth with good communication throughout the process.
The quality of workmanship was second to none. The workmen were always punctual and worked in a tidy manner, always cleaning up as they went and at the end of the day
Highly recommended!

I cannot recommend Princes LHS Ltd…

I cannot recommend Princes LHS Ltd highly enough. They completely transformed our home into a fully electrified, incredibly efficient setup. They installed our solar panels, Samsung air source heat pump, battery storage, and electric hob. From start to finish, their customer service was absolutely top-notch—professional, deeply knowledgeable, and always happy to answer questions.
But the real proof is in the results. Thanks to the flawless system they installed, we are running our heating and powering the entire house for absolute pennies. By combining their setup with a smart energy tariff, we’ve completely shielded ourselves from peak grid prices, and our solar exports are effectively paying our bills. If you want to future-proof your home and drop your energy costs to near zero, Princes LHS is the company to use. Five stars!

Heat pump and radiators!

We had a heat pump and new radiators fitted in our dated home.

The staff were friendly and great, we even went to work and let them carry on in our home. :)

We will be definitely using them again!

Excellent Service

For over a month, I had been looking into the pros and cons of replacing a Powerwall 2 battery with a Powerwall 3 and an Expansion Kit. Three companies provided me with a quote.

I was inclined to place my order with the Company that installed my solar array and Powerwall 2 as their work was first class. Unfortunately, it proved difficult to engage with them and, with the Tesla Powerwall Rebate Scheme ending soon, time was against me.

I had met with Josh P on site and I was as confident as I could be that Princes would do a good job. I placed my order Tuesday PM and by mid-day the next day the Powerwall 3 and Expansion were installed using the existing wiring and Gateway 2. The lead electrician was first rate.

I had a follow on issue getting battery export set up which Reece W-F dealt with quickly.

All-in-all, I could not have asked for better service from the Renewables Team at Princes.

Caused issues, quoting for work we didnt need, avoid!

We have an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) installed by another comp around 5 yrs ago & regulary serviced by them until 2024 & any work needed, e.g flow switch in 2022. In October we decided use someone local and booked Princes for service at £198.

The service was done by engineer S (I won't use their name here). S advised me that the 2 white expansion tanks needed replacement as they had failed. S went into detail to explain to me that these can actually be pumped up using a bicycle pump to do it. He did not pump them up during the service visit. He told me they needed replacing & the office would provide a quote for this & topping the glycol up which was low. I noticed later in the day after S left our pressure had dropped to 0. I thought this was unusual after a service but just topped it up.

We decided to go ahead with the quote of close to £400 & paid, as requested, 50% of this up front. Having spoke to two other companies regarding servicing ASHPs since, we were advised that if the tanks had been checked & pumped up during service it would have been very obvious if they had failed as you would know within a minute.  When the second engineer (who I will refer to as G) came out I expressed concern re the tanks & he said he would check. He told me they were both fine & just needed pumping up. We explained we had a service & G asked who had done it, as the tanks should have been pumped up but who did the service probably didn't bother as they were a bit difficult to access. Embarrassing when we had to say it was Princes, the very company he worked for!

Having established that there was nothing up with our expansion tanks, G pumped them up, sorted the glycol, identified a leak (loose fitting on our water cylinder) which the service record noted had been fixed previously. G left stating he had turned the heating & hot water on & would speak to the office about the almost £200 paid given we didn't actually have or need the tanks replacing, only the glycol topping up. As G had been 2.5 hrs late I had to leave immediately as I was now late for work. When I got home I noticed the house was cold & there was no hot water. I looked at the ASHP usage/data & was able to see that the heat pump had not worked since we turned it off before G arrived. We have data from our ASHP to confirm this. There was also an error code on the ASHP & a noise that sounded like a bag of spanners.

We spent Friday evening with no heating & hot water in minus temperatures. On Saturday morning I called Princes & they sent G back out. G explained that the grinding was the coil in the Gledhill tank & suggested this would need a longer term fix but temporarily fixed it with cable ties. This is a problem we did not have until Princes touched our system. In the years we have had our system we have never had a rattling coil & we believe it is due to G adjusting our pump settings. The error was due to a blocked filter, something G apparently tested before he left the day before & everything was working (as mentioned above our ASHP data says otherwise).

We had no apology from Princes for leaving us with no heating or hot water, no apology when we were told we needed work done we didn't, no apology that the service wasn't done correctly & even worse the fact that out of the almost £200 paid out of the almost £400 quote they told us we still owed just over £80 they would waive as a gesture of goodwill. We were very clear in saying we wouldn't have paid the £80. We have had no breakdown of work completed sl essentially £280 for topping up the glyol.

They have since said engineer S did pump up our expansion tanks but they have no record of it. S recorded we needed replacement tanks and other work he did but conveniently missed this. Princes state 'we are confident Steve is not a liar' so they are calling us liars!

Princes then quoted us almost £200 to fix the issue which was causing the rattling in the tank & the temporary fix G did. They quoted to fix an issue they created that we did not have before.

In response to the reply from Princes
when they say "The further quotation we provided followed manufacturer guidance and was offered as a proactive proposal to address a pre-existing, long-standing issue with the system—one that predates our involvement and was not caused by any work we have carried out" to confirm we had no pre-existing issues with a rattle or lose coil, this wasn't noted at service and only emerged following the engineers visit on the Friday. And as regards not charging us for a call out fee on the Satuday, I should hope not! We had no heating or hot water following the engineers visit on the Friday when the glycol was topped up and apparantly tested (no evidence it was working when the engineer left). The only reason we needed a call out on Saturday is because of the issues created on Friday! No breakdown of the almost £200 we paid in respect of the quote and work we didn't have.

Reply from Princes LHS Ltd

Dear Rachel,

I am writing to provide a clear and factual response to the points raised in your recent correspondence.

For clarity, Princes LHS Ltd did not undertake the original installation of your air source heat pump (ASHP) system.

In 2022, you reported an E911 error (low flow rate fault). You later cancelled the scheduled engineer visit, advising that the issue had resolved itself, and no further action was taken at that time.

In October 2025, you requested a routine service. Our engineer S tested the system and found that both expansion vessels failed their pressure tests. He recommended replacement of the vessels together with a glycol top-up, and we issued a quotation for this work totalling £325.34 + VAT. You accepted the quotation and paid the requested 50% deposit of £195.20 (including VAT) to secure materials.

During the subsequent visit, engineer G re-tested the expansion vessels and determined they were holding pressure adequately. He therefore did not replace them. You were given the opportunity to pause or cancel the remaining work (glycol top-up) but authorised him to proceed.

Upon learning that the vessels had not been replaced, we immediately reviewed the invoice and deducted the cost of the unused vessels plus the associated labour. The adjusted balance of £81.20 (including VAT) reflects only the glycol actually supplied and used, which we consider fair and proportionate.

We regret that you experienced a period without heating or hot water. Engineer G confirmed the system was operating correctly before he left the property. The subsequent fault (reported the following morning, a Saturday) was promptly attended to by G, who diagnosed a recurrence of the low flow rate issue and restored normal operation. This may relate to the same underlying fault first noted in 2022.

Regarding any perceived lack of apology, regret was expressed in our colleague’s initial email following G’s visit, specifically concerning the unnecessary supply of the expansion vessels. Vessels of this age (three years or older) can fail unpredictably, as demonstrated by the differing test results between the two visits.

To summarise the financial position:

- You paid the agreed sum of £195.20 (inc. VAT) upon accepting the quotation.
- We reduced the final balance to reflect only the work actually performed.
- No sums beyond the original quotation were requested at any stage.

Engineer S has since confirmed that he did re-pressurise the vessels during the October service. Any difference in recollection is likely due to the volume of similar jobs he has completed since then. We are satisfied there was no intentional misrepresentation.

The further quotation we provided followed manufacturer guidance and was offered as a proactive proposal to address a pre-existing, long-standing issue with the system—one that predates our involvement and was not caused by any work we have carried out.

We are genuinely sorry that matters have not unfolded as either party would have wished. We believe we have acted fairly and reasonably throughout, invoicing only for work actually completed. As a gesture of goodwill, we have waived the remaining 50% balance entirely (after already deducting the cost of the vessels and associated labour) and have not charged for the out-of-hours Saturday call-out.

We are disappointed by the current position of this situation.

Yours sincerely,

Princes LHS Ltd

Excellent heatpump survey and installation experience

I highly recommend Princes LHS for anyone considering a heat pump installation. Having researched solar, battery, and heat pump solutions for some time, I encountered many 'opportunists' in the market before finding a team I could trust.

While I had my solar and battery system installed by Octopus, they were unable to provide the larger-scale heat pump my property required. They recommended Princes LHS, and after comparing several quotes, I chose them—not necessarily for the lowest price, but for their technical integrity. As an MSc in Electrical Engineering whose family installed our first heat pump back in 1978, I appreciated that they were the only ones to identify potential issues with my proposed locations for the pump and tank.

The final result met, and in some aspects, exceeded my expectations. If you are looking to transition to green energy with a company that prioritizes quality and honest advice, Princes LHS is an excellent choice.

Air Source Heat Pump + Solar + Battery + EV Charger

Princes installed a new air source heat pump and central heating system for me, and also fitted a solar, home battery and EV charger system.
We are very happy with the results – everything is working very well. It’s been very pleasing to run my car on solar power through the summer and autumn.
The installation was carried out in a very professional manner, the Princes team were efficient, thorough and courteous. As well as the renewables installation they identified and fixed a couple of pre-existing issues with the plumbing and electrical system. They have responded immediately and sorted out the minor teething issues we had.
In short, I’m very happy to have chosen Princes and highly recommend them as a renewable’s installer.

Air Source Heat Pump & Battery Installation

We decided to approach Princes LHS about replacing an old oil-fired boiler with an air source heat pump along with a battery. The team came out a few times to ensure that they could find the optimum place to install the new pump, hot water tank, replacement radiators and associated pipe work. The team were on site for just under two weeks. They were conscientious and hard-working and kept any disruption to a minimum. I felt confident at each stage and it was clear that the team were experienced and knew what they were doing. The team took great pains to ensure we knew what had been completed and the plan for the following day. They removed and disposed of the old boiler, water tank and they capped off all the redundant pipe work. We have gained space in our utility room and airing cupboard which is a bonus. Having a battery installed as part of the project made perfect sense as we have solar panels and can take advantage of lower overnight tariffs. We are already seeing the savings from having the new renewable heating system installed.

Better than we could have hoped.....

Our Air Source Heat Pump servicer retired, so we hunted for a new service. The best reviews were for this company, so we gave them a try. Good decision! Not only was the servicing done when promised, and at a very fair price, the engineer sorted out a problem with distribution to two of our underfloor heating loops. We had always been disappointed with the heating in that area, but put it down to heat loss through the walls and windows. In fact, it was the flow controllers had never worked well, and some skill and a dash of WD-40 transformed the performance. Having found out a bit about how this company works, we will ask them to do all our plumbing and heating work in future.

Solar panel installation

Princes installed our solar panels around a year ago now. We are very happy with their work, they were efficient, considerate and quick. We also found they were very good value for money and a lot cheaper than the other two quotes we received.

Quality installations and good advice

Quality installations and good advice. A lot of care and attention went into maximising the setup for quality and aesthetics. Equipment chosen is very good (Samsung ASHP, Tesla battery II & gateway and integrated panels on garage roof)
It makes such a difference to have a team with lots of experience - and good people that have been with the company for years. Have just ordered a second Tesla battery to expand the setup and provide more backup capacity. First 12 months of operating the solar and ASHP have been exactly as the calcs predicted.

Recently had 10 solar panels fitted

Recently had 10 solar panels fitted, very happy with the straightforward approach to sales and the job their fitters did was first class.
Electric bill now a lot less and expecting good return for my money. Princes have also done a fair bit of electrical work for me over the years. Would definitely recommend.
Great to have such a top rate company on the doorstep!
