Dodgy dealer - Used cars

I went to significant time and expense to travel and view a Smart Fortwo advertised by this dealer in mid 2024 - Greenlane. Because of the effort and cost involved, I specifically asked beforehand about the condition of the vehicle and made it clear that I was particular and had to go to great lengths to get to them.. I was repeatedly assured it was in great condition, very clean, and had not been resprayed.

Unfortunately, this could not have been further from the truth.

As soon as I sat in the car, it was obvious something was very wrong. The interior A-pillar trim and left-side roof panel were held together with multiple self-tapping screws. The exterior paintwork on the left side was extremely poor and impossible to miss, suggesting previous damage and substandard repairs. In my opinion, the vehicle was in very poor condition.

Given the wasted trip, I looked at other vehicles on the yard and was shocked to see a pattern of badly repainted panels and poor-quality repair work across multiple cars.

When I confronted the dealer about the misleading information and the unnecessary expense I had incurred, there was no apology or explanation. The dealer simply walked away into a back office.

Based on this experience, I do not trust this dealer and would not buy a vehicle from them.
