Turners team were great
Turners team were great, polite and very helpful in selling my van and buying another upgrade on the same day. From a good price for my old van to helping transfer my personalised plate to new van to helping take off my roof to aka which took ages and setting up my new radio. 5 Starr from me 😊

Went for appraisal to sell my car at Invercargill branch . Was surprised by the super low ball offer considering the age condition of the vehicle. They don't want your car they want to steal it instead . Obviously the commission on selling car has rising substantially. Good luck to you all .

Took my vehicle there for an appraisal but was treated with a very bad attitude by the guy doing it. I had to take 2 hours off from work to be on time for it. Didn’t even make an offer. I have a 2019 model top spec vehicle so not an old piece of shit. Wanted to buy another vehicle from them but after this guy’s shit attitude will never go there again
Fraudsters!
Fraudsters!
Tried telling us the car had multiple issues due to warning lights on dashboard - we advised this is due to loose plug under drivers seat (very common and well known issue with the vehicle and year)
They told us they would sell the car for $10/11k and without the lights on dashboard would offer us around $7k.. but wanted an inspection done by their mechanic to confirm the loose plug fault.
Their mechanics carried out inspection (no faults at all showing) but said there were a few other things that needed doing - tyres/oil leak and said they shouldn’t really tell us but they would sort it for Turners for less than $2k
Get a call from Turners to say there’s a few MAJOR issues with the car and they would offer $1.5k!
I truly feel sorry for anyone who is really stuck and have no choice but to sell to these disgusting fraudsters!
Turners - Huge Vehicle Scam in NZ!
Turners Auctions appears to be contributing significantly to the volume of substandard vehicles entering the New Zealand used car market. Many vehicles sold through their auctions are later found to be not of acceptable quality or fit for purpose under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA), particularly when the original vendor is in trade.A common pattern emerges: buyers purchase a vehicle at auction, discover major undisclosed issues shortly after (rendering it uneconomical to repair), and then resell it quickly and cheaply on platforms like Trade Me. The next buyer often faces the same problems, leading to disputes, complaints, and ultimately claims in the Disputes Tribunal or Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal (MVDT).While Turners provides a legitimate auction service and offers some protections (such as title guarantees and optional mechanical breakdown insurance), the lack of mandatory mechanical warranties on most vehicles, combined with the high volume of sales from private or trade vendors, means many problematic cars enter circulation with limited initial accountability. This creates a cycle where Turners profits from transaction fees while downstream buyers bear the repair costs and legal burdens. There are documented cases and consumer complaints highlighting similar issues with vehicles purchased through Turners, where CGA protections apply only if the seller is in trade (as noted on their listings). Greater transparency—such as requiring disclosure of auction origin and history on resale—could help break this cycle and better protect consumers. If you share similar experiences or believe stronger regulations are needed, consider lodging feedback with Consumer NZ, the Commerce Commission, or MBIE. In the meantime, exercising caution by always obtaining independent pre-purchase inspections and checking whether CGA applies to the specific sale is advisable. For those frustrated with the current system, boycotting high-risk auction purchases in favour of direct dealer sales (with clearer warranties) or thoroughly vetted private sales may be a practical step.
Privacy overreach
I purchased a car near on two years ago from Turners, the car itself was fine (newly imported from Japan). My mistake was financing it through them (the operate a finance arm called "Oxford Finance"). Now as the finance rate is a nosebleed 15.99% (okay, silly move, but that is another conversation), I put down $1024 as an extra payment, my normal payments per week are around $114. No sooner I did that, they sent me an officious email invoking the money laundering act demanding I tell them where the money came from
For $1024!! As you might imagine, I viewed this as very heavy handed, so I called them and had a fairly robust discussion with them, then lodged a request under the privacy act, ultimately spoke to their "privacy officer". End result, I told them in no uncertain terms I don't appreciate as a customer being treated as the enemy, and will NEVER purchase another vehicle from them again. Don't deal with these people, they are just an awful company
Do not buy cars from Turners
Turners cars are rip offs. Bought a BMW off them earlier this year, has been nothing but problems in and out of the mechanics with issues you wouldn't think a car you just bought would have that soon. Our car has so much wrong with it (Steering, Compressor and Air Conditioning to date) that we have to now pay $900 in excess (3 excesses of $300 each) right on Christmas. My husband lost his job awhile ago and I got diagnosed with a tumor in July, this has just put the icing on the cake of how our year has been. DO NOT USE TURNERS FOR ANYTHING UNLESS YOU WANT TO DRIVE OFF THE LOT WITH A DUD MOTOR VEHICLE AND LOT LESS IN YOUR POCKET 🤬
Hopeless Company Never Again
Purchased a car, should have taken breakdown insurance - our fault. They do not belong to MTA. Never trust them. No support.
Disappointing service
My grandmother tried to buy a small car but was met with terrible service and unhelpful staff. When trying to chose a car the staff gave us false information regarding the safety. Then when we asked to get the car checked they refused to take the car of the market for just 3 hours. Now when she tried to purchase the car they wouldn't give it to her for several hours due to bank delay even though they were shown the bank statement. This left he waiting on the side of the road with no transport. In the end it would have been more helpful for the staff to have not talk to us at all as they really were useless.
It is very disappoting just how horrible the service at turners cars was and I really hope that no one else has to go through all the drama in just buying a car.
Although in saying this the car it's self is cheap and in good condition.
I am not being dramatic or exagerting just describeing our experience at turners car auctions.
I had a Subaru i want to sell
I had a Subaru i want to sell, i ask them they say they could buy it off from me for $12k! mind you it’s an STI Blobeye, with 170kms with no problem at all. such Bullshit i went to other store and i sold it for $19k like what a rip off
No After Sales Service
They don't care about after sales service, sold me a dud.. gearbox crapped out after 14wks..don't get sucked in to there bullshit addverts..it's all lies.

DON'T BUY CARS From any Turners stores they will rip you off. Not give long warranty on the car. Like 2 to 3years. They buy cars Like at 2 or 3k and sell them at 8k. I have had on going mechanic problems the whole 2years They only gave 3months warranty because they knew car would break down. They also all lie to you so always get your car AA check before buying from anyone.or take a trusted guy that knows about cars. I was a victim to this company but darkness comes to light in the end. Please warn all your friends and family they aren't honest just only about making money. Get cars at low ks and long warranty or just walk away. God bless guys.
Couldn't change date but 1st of July. 2025.
Talk about trying to fleece customers
Talk about trying to fleece customers, was offered 2k for my 2012 Holden Commodore S/W🤣
I just spend 1k on it on Friday for its wof (which passed with flying colours ) service and a couple of speed wheel sensors that needed replacing
I’m the second owner and it has a full service history, it’s a well looked after car.
In the past four years I upgraded the sound system (3.5k cost) lowering and wheels was 3k, front bumper repainted last years and back rotors and new break pads all round last year as well.
All four tyres replaced start of year and I even upgraded the rear mufflers to SV6 mufflers.
All it needed was rear tinted window needed replacing and rear bumper could do with a tidy up and a good groom.
The sales lady asked what was I trying to get for it and I said 8k, she gave me a dirty look at said not from a dealer !
If you offered a reasonable price instead of thinking I needed the money (which I don’t) I own 2 other cars, I wouldn’t be writing this poor review.
Especially when you had a Holden on the yard that was standard with double the kms for 10 grand.

I went to Turners in Hornby to buy a car. when I walked in and told the person behind the desk what I was looking for, his reply was out the front waving his hand dismissavley. So my wife and I walked all over the lot to try and find the make and model of the car I had asked about. after about half n hour no one from Turners had approached us to see if they could help. I even looked up the vehicle I was interested in, with the agents number listed, I rang that, and guess what no answer, no return call,at the end of the day, I find how and what you advertise.... and how you actually behave are two different things
Selling faulty cars
Went to go sell my car that I'd brought a year back from them and was sold with the engine light on and has been nothing but trouble since, they offered me well below half of the cars value. If your thinking of selling a car through turners, prepare to get ripped off massively. Just use Trade me
I purchased my car from Turners Botany…our new car
I purchased my car from Turners Botany 5th of April and I could not be happier with the service I received, the whole team were friendly helpful and couldn’t do enough for us I would recommend Turners Botany to everyone.
Came in once offered me terrible price
Came in once offered me terrible price. Walked away from that placed my vehicle on trade me they contacted me offering me a more reasonable price so drove all the way there from Wakefield just for them to say we would offer you the original price total time wasters wouldn’t ever even bother going back to them again
Turners Otahuhu #1 Sales Consultant, Justin Appleby.
I was interested in purchasing a car from Turners Otahuhu. I made contact with Turners and Sales Consultant Justin Appleby answered. That was the start to my 5 star review and experience. Although I never ended up purchasing the car, Justin was very professional, prompt, polite and did I mention professional? He was very accommodating for my requests and nothing was too much to ask. He was so good, I actually felt bad pulling out of the sale. Anyway, if you are looking for a sales consultant at Turners Otahuhu, ask for Justin Appleby. You won't be disappointed. If I find another car there in future, I know who I'll be contacting!
Want to be treated like a leper
Want to be treated like a leper? This was my experience when I took in my 2009 BMW730d to trade for something smaller as I am a recent widow. We brought this beautiful car over from Australia 9 years ago. The staff member was straight up condescending and asked ‘so exactly why are you selling’. I replied my husband had passed. He then said ‘so did you bring this car from Aus?’
‘Yes’
‘Well Turners are basically not interested…..
why?
‘Oh theres floods and fires’
My car has been in NZ 9 years!! One owner!!
My experience was nothing like the warm and fuzzy ads that Turners promote. I left feeling patronised and sidelined, confused and disappointed.
If they aren’t interested in imports from Australia, they should advertise that!! I drove an hour to get to the appointment.
