Absolutely great service from Novomove.
Needed to obtain a NIF as my wife and I explore our options of moving from the UK to Portugal.
As I have an Irish Passport and my wife a British one, thought I would be able to just go in to a Finanças and obtain one, but informed at our appointment as not resident in Portugal that I would need a fiscal rep.
Explored various options online and discovered that Novomove offered a cost effective, quick and efficient service.
Brilliant communications, easy process to follow both on email and the Novomove portal and in a very short time had my NIF emailed to me as well as followed not long after by the login password and instructions to change the initial Finaças login.
Impressed with the support and any queries were answered very quickly by Dianne and Maya.
Thanks again for your help. Now to see where we would like to live.

To get a NIF whilst living outside of…
To get a NIF whilst living outside of Portugal requires using somebody inside Portugal to get it for you. We saw a few options online and decided to use Novomove. It was a good choice as they sorted our NIF's no problem and their communication was great.

Less headache to do on your own
Their instructions were not very clear or using images that were outdated. Services seemed very expensive for not doing much work; additional work, like requesting your address to be updated (which only they can do), is another charge. They want proof you have removed them as your financial representative after a year.
Flying to Portugal and back would have been about the same price and much more enjoyable.

I'd like to clarify a few points that are inaccurate, so as not to create confusion for future clients.
As the NIF holder, clients can update their address directly with the Portuguese Tax Authority for free at any time, as long as they have the right documentation.
For EU citizens, this means a CRUE issued at least 6 months earlier; for non-EU citizens, a residency card with valid Portuguese address documentation.
We're always available to guide clients through this process, as we did in your case.
Regarding fiscal representation, our model is intentionally flexible.
After the initial 12-month period, clients are free to decide whether to renew or proceed with removal. We do not automatically enroll clients into ongoing subscriptions. For removal, we offer a free step-by-step DIY guide, or a paid service where our team handles the removal on the client's behalf. You were offered both at the time and chose to handle it yourself.
It's important to note that while our partner fiscal representative is listed on a NIF, they hold ongoing legal obligations before the Portuguese Tax Authority on your behalf.
For this reason, we ask clients to either renew the representation or confirm its removal, so that this responsibility is properly maintained or formally concluded.
Our NIF service covers the full process: remote issuance, physical mail receipt (including portal passwords), and 12 months of fiscal representation by a certified Portuguese lawyer - which is why many clients choose this route instead of handling it independently.
We appreciate your feedback on the clarity of our materials and will continue improving them to ensure everything is as clear and up to date as possible.

Amazing Service
I needed to obtain my NIF under a very tight deadline, I saw the reviews online and opted for Novomove.
