Disappointing customer service

I bought a JetMag Pro Creator Mist kit at the NiSI stand at the photography Show after reading on the NiSi website that their variable ND filter eliminated the usual cross polarisation X effect inherent in VND filters, and also that these were suitable for long exposure seascape photography (although I can no longer find this part on their website). I also spoke with two different men helping on the stand, on different days, explaining that I wished to use the VND for seascape ICMs. I was not told this filter would not be suitable for this purpose. I was sold an open box kit (which I wasn’t too happy about), so I asked what would happen if I had any problems with it. I was assured that they would sort them out for me. It turns out the filter shows ugly streaking across the image after 3 stops if I use a small aperture (which is sometimes necessary for long exposures). The Sales and Marketing Director eventually sent me a replacement filter after asking me to photograph the filter, then video the filter, then send photos of the results using the filter, package the old filter up and label it to send back to China, then photograph it again! There was no apology about the inconvenience of having bought a product that did not work to expected reasonable standards (I know people who use other brands without problems), nor did he seem to mind about how he was inconveniencing me with continual demands to photograph and video it every which way, instead of arranging for it to be sent straight back to him. A replacement was sent, but with the same problem. The upshot is he will not accept a return and refund my money as he somehow thinks I was told it was not suitable for ICM (I was not), he says it is not suitable for long exposures or ICMs (the streaks also appear when taking a static photo on a tripod), and he says it was an open box sale so I would have been informed it was non returnable (again, I specifically asked about this at point of sale and was assured any problems would be sorted out). This was after I had to prompt him to reply to my email after 9 days, and he said their email servers were down. It is such a shame that I was originally very enthusiastic about the NiSi brand, but this experience was so disrespectful - I feel like I’ve been bossed around, there was an inference that I had lied, and all trust in the brand on my part has totally gone. It was unpleasant, and I would urge anyone to think about a brand’s customer service before spending their money.

We are sorry to read this review, however we do feel that several parts of it are misleading and require clarification.

During the Photography Show, multiple members of our team were informed that the intended use was for ICM and long exposure seascape photography. For this specific type of photography, our informed staff consistently recommended the Landscape ND Kit with fixed ND filters that was discounted at 25%, as fixed ND filters are the industry-standard solution for ICM and stronger long exposure work. The VND filter was later requested separately to another member of staff who was not involved in the earlier conversations regarding the intended ICM usage.

At no point has our website stated that the JetMag Pro VND is designed specifically for ICM or long exposure seascape photography. The reason this wording “can no longer be found” is simply because it has never been published on our website. The VND is designed for flexible exposure control for general photography and video applications, but, like all variable ND systems, it has limitations when used at extreme densities, very small apertures, or underexposed shooting conditions.

The “streaking” shown in the sample images was reviewed both internally and by our engineering team in China. No manufacturing defect was found on either the original filter or the replacement filter supplied. The artefacts visible in the images are consistent with optical diffraction caused by shooting at f/22 combined with a strong VND density and underexposure. This is a known optical effect and not a product fault.

Regarding the support process, requesting photos and videos is a standard part of technical troubleshooting to identify whether any physical or visible defect exists before arranging international inspection or replacement. Apologies were issued from the beginning for the inconvenience caused, and despite no defect being identified, we still supplied a replacement filter entirely at our expense.

The kit purchased at the show was stated clearly sold as an opened/ex-display item, which was reflected in the heavily discounted sale price of approximately 40% off retail value. This was disclosed prior to purchase and accepted at the point of sale. Open-box exhibition items are sold as seen and are not eligible for refund unless a manufacturing defect is confirmed.

Despite this, and even after confirming no defect was present, we still offered a further 30% discount towards a new order through a person being contacted by you, exceeding the usual maximum discount we provide in customer service cases, as a gesture of goodwill and to try to reach an amicable resolution.

We genuinely regret that you feel dissatisfied with the experience, as throughout the process we attempted to assist professionally, provide technical support, arrange replacement testing, and offer goodwill solutions despite the absence of any confirmed product fault.

Still waiting for kit then was paid for ages ago!

Ive ordered a couple filters in the past that were both great quality and fast delivery...but my dealings with them has gone sour since!
I ordered their V7 filter starter kit plus a 86mm lens adapter , the latter being out of stock and I would have to wait for delivery of that item at a later date...no problem !
After about 3 weeks I still had not had delivery of the V7 starter kit so I contacted them and was told that mine had been damaged whilst trying to send it from the warehouse????!!!!!! ...and that a new one would get to me by the beginning of April ...April the 9th and still no show...and then I get an email saying the 86mm adapter was now in stock...so I emailed them to ask where both items were in that case ...I got a c@ck and bull story from customer services pointing out that when I placed the order I should have realised they the adapter ring would be delayed!!! I found this condescending as I obviously knew that and had been waiting patiently ...clearly whoever contacted me did not look into the case to know of the bizarre story of the damaged V7 kit!!! the tarnish is coming off my experience with NISI UK ...can they pull it back?
AMMENDUM …I am amending my review as I have finally received all the equipment I ordered and they have kindly upgraded the kit to include 2 extra filters ! I will be checking out all the kit and comparing it to my Lee filters ! First impressions is that it is more solidly built than the Lee stuff . Sadly the built in polariser does not fit my most used Lens which is 86mm … but this is not a game changer as I don’t use polarisers much at present !

Excellent Quality Filters and Very Good Customer Support

I have bought the Nisi circular ND filter kit, and also the V7 square filter holder including a 3 stop GND and 10 stop ND filter and I am blown away by the quality and performance of them. Customer service is very important to me and you can rest assured that NiSi have got your back if you ever need to contact them. Their delivery service is by Royal Mail and they are also excellent.

Excellent customer service

I bought the Nisi Macro Rail and the JetMag system and had a few questions before placing my order. Alex at Nisi UK was incredibly helpful, he took the time to answer everything clearly and guided me toward the right products for my setup.

Both items arrived quickly. The quality is excellent, and they’ve already made a big difference in my workflow. It’s rare to get this level of service and expertise. Highly recommended!

There refusing to give me my refund

I ordered a 67mm nd filter , on the day of the delivery , i got a notification that the item was delivered, bear in mind thats impossible because i was not at home . Ive now got to the bottom of it ,and the delivery man has just lefted the parcel outside which when i got in nothing was there which i informed Alex at Nisi. He has now told me i have to wait 28days for a claim to be completed before i can recieve my refund or decide too . Have you lost your mind? You think im gonna sit here for 28days without my money i spent and with no product because your courier lefted it outside somewhere with also no proof or pictures. Even if there was a picture of proof which there isnt , you lefted my parcel outside instead of redelivering it or handing it to an actual person ? Sorry but thats a fault in your department i paid as a customer , anyone can leave any product outside and say yes its delivered. I am no claiming outside charges with my solictor . I will never ever accept this kind of behaviour and service where im the only person who has taken a lost as a customer. I will also be filing a chargeback with my bank to get me money back . Either way im gonna get my money back . I will never ever buy from them again , ive bought 3 nd filters in the past and they all arrived fine and now they wanna do this because of a bad courier? This is not the end buddy .

Poor NiSi Remote Control Instructions

The title says it all , thank goodness on you website you get a great view of the instructions eventually after go through lots of page on the website. With regard to your Remote Control time will tell. It is pathetic that you have to buy a cable to connect to a camera, why not include this when people buy the remote control a very simple upgrade.

Regarding the cable, as mentioned on the product page, it is not included with the remote controller, and needs to be purchased separately based on the specific camera model. This ensures compatibility for different photographers’ needs.

A little Report for the NiSi Swift…

A little Report for the NiSi Swift filter kit. I’ve been out in Scarborough testing the Nisi Swift ND filter kit today and im blown away by this system. It is effortless, well thought out, flawless quality and has brought the joy back into my long exposure photography. The price point is very reasonable for this level of quality. The filters face no issues such as inconsistencies or vignetting. Colours are bob on too. Many thanks NiSi UK.

Nisi Macro Focusing Rail

What can I say?
Firstly, one of the best companies I have ever dealt with! Great customer service. You send them an email and get a sensible, truthful and helpful response within a couple of hours.
Secondly, the product (although made in China) is brilliant. Very well engineered and works perfectly.
Thirdly, they worked very hard to get the product to me ASAP.
I will definitely use them again.

Outstanding customer service

I recently placed an order on the website for some filters.

i was pleasantly surprised when I got a WhatsApp message on the same day (Sunday none the less) to check whether I’d ordered the correct items as a couple were incompatible.

This attention to detail was was invaluable as I had indeed made a mistake which they helped me correct.

Absolutely first class service

Absolutely first class service, buying direct. The negative review is based on buying through Amazon, and like any discount system different stores offer different deals. Firstly I ordered a filter holder and a NC UV filter, yes they are expensive but you pay for the quality. Delivery was within 48hrs as well. The products are extremely well made, and I further ordered a Cir Pol filter which arrived this morning again within 48hrs. I believe that NiSi have a deal on about the moment and the voucher code can be found in most photo magazines. All in all first class products and first class service, even answered a question I had via WhatsApp on a Bank Holiday.

Ripped off by £33.95

I have just purchased a very expensive 'NiSi' camera lens filter kit on Amazon UK. The purchase was via 'NiSi UK', with no Prime delivery available, only free delivery estimated at 6 to 9 days!

In the event, the delivery took 4 days.

On receipt of the item I went to the 'NiSi UK' website, in order to register the purchase. I only then discovered that I could have saved £34.95 by using a 'first order' 5% discount, as clearly stated on the 'NiSi UK' website, and additionally free fast tracked delivery.

This was neither flagged, nor, available if purchased from 'NiSi UK' through Amazon UK.

This has put me off 'NiSi UK' altogether, and should have purchased the Lee filter kit instead.

I have reported this anomaly to both Amazon UK and also to NiSi UK.
