First and last time I used this…

First and last time I used this company.
Bought the car a couple a months ago.
The car failed the MOT

Repair immediately (major defects):
Anti-lock braking system warning lamp indicates an ABS fault (1.6 (b))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Offside Front Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Nearside Front Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii))
Offside Front Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii))

Before bought the car i spoak with Ian and he told me if the car failed the MOT he give me his word, everything will be fully repaired to the standard.
Great news everything got fully repaired apparently and passed the MOT,but the question is where is the invoice of all job done to the car include full service.
Till today still not invoice when I suppose receive the document by post,I been back in forward from the car sales and even today I got told by staff to go and collect it to the local garage where the car originally got repaired. Now I been to the local garages but them don't have the invoice because apparently got send to your company.
Going forward the car is totally fine look like got fully repaired but without proof or invoice.

Hi Mr. Chirco,

We’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy, but let’s clarify a few points.

You were assured that any MOT failures would be fully repaired before the car left our hands — and that’s exactly what happened. The vehicle passed its MOT after the necessary work, which we covered. It’s disappointing that this has been overlooked in your review.

That said, we completely agree: the delay in providing your invoice isn’t acceptable. You shouldn’t have had to chase this, and we apologise for the inconvenience.

We’re arranging for the full documentation to be sent out immediately.
Please get in touch with us at sales@motortrutuk.co.uk with your preferred email or postal address so we can resolve this properly.

Kind Regards

**AVOID AT ALL COSTS**

**Review for Motor Trust Garstang**

I strongly urge anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from Motor Trust Garstang to think twice! My experience with them has been nothing short of a nightmare.

I bought a car from them in September, and within just three weeks, I found myself dealing with a malfunctioning sunroof that refused to close during a heavy downpour! When I reached out for help, I was directed to a garage near Blackpool, but after three weeks and countless phone calls, they couldn’t resolve the issue, and I ended up wasting £500 on a warranty that turned out to be worthless.

As if that wasn’t enough, I faced ongoing issues with warning lights repeatedly turning on and off. After another visit to the garage, their solution was simply to turn off the lights, but the problem persisted.

The final straw came in February when, while driving my son and his friends to a birthday party, the engine light illuminated, smoke billowed out, and I experienced complete engine failure. This incident resulted in a 15-mile traffic jam and required the fire brigade. My car has been in the garage for months, now needing a whole new engine!

I have hardly driven this vehicle without issues since I bought it, and I’m now pursuing legal action against this company. Motor Trust Garstang is a total scam, and I advise everyone to steer clear of their services. Save your hard-earned money and look elsewhere!

We are very sorry to hear about your experience, though we strongly disagree with your characterization of Motor Trust Garstang as a “total scam.” We stand by the quality of our vehicles and the warranty services we provide.

We regret that your car has had ongoing issues, but many of these problems arose after the sale and involve repairs that go beyond our control. It’s unfortunate that you feel compelled to take legal action, but we remain open to resolving this matter fairly and professionally.

If you wish to discuss this further, please contact our management team directly. We encourage all our customers to communicate with us before escalating issues publicly.

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY

In 2024 we bought a family car from this company. Everything was fine until things started to go wrong with the vehicle. The manager and staff did everything they possibly could to avoid providing any service to help. It's been that bad I'm still considering bringing about small claims court proceedings. We have spent over half the car's value on repairs and it is back in the garage again as I write this. Unbelievably Motortrust did the following when I rang about a third problem in late 2024. It was clearly documented in the warranty provided that the part was covered but they:-

1. Initially denied they had any record of the sale. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
2. The "manager" was Incredibly rude on the phone. He never rang back when he said they would.
3. They provided a warranty with clear terms and conditions and blatantly denied the parts were covered when it was written in black and white for all to see.
4. They spent months making ridiculous excuses on why it wasn't their problem and I should contact the original dealer.

STAY AWAY AND TAKE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ELSEWHERE

The response to this review sums this outfit up. The high number of negative reviews is not a surprise. Reported to Trading Standards and I encourage others who have similar experiences to do the same.

We’re sorry you’re unhappy, but your version of events doesn’t reflect how we handle business at Motortrust. We have clear records of every sale and warranty, and we always aim to support our customers fairly.

If you felt the manager was rude, that’s disappointing, but we won’t tolerate unfounded accusations or public attacks without giving us a chance to address concerns properly. Warranty terms are clearly communicated, and we expect customers to follow the correct procedures rather than blaming us for issues beyond our control.

If you want to discuss this further, we’re open to a direct conversation—otherwise, we stand by our commitment to honest service.

Bought a vehicle from their Preston…

Bought a vehicle from their Preston branch, took out the warranty for £499 as I had concern for the wet belt, salesman promised I’d be covered, 6 months down the wet belt needed replacing, phoned up to see what I had to do and they said they’d get back to me, heard nothing, now I ring and even messaged the salesman and get nothing back and no answer on the phone. Ended up forking out £1000 myself to avoid being off work.
Had a generic email from motor trust from a company director, who I won’t name unless asked, regarding valued customers and further business :
“ I hope this email finds you well. It's been six months since you purchased your Ford Transit Custom from us, and we wanted to touch base.

We now have over 1,000 vehicles in stock across Preston, Garstang and Lancaster, all at great prices, with 3 year warranties and as always inspected and approved by the AA.

Our part-exchange valuations are unrivalled so should you wish to explore this option even for consideration just simply let me know and I can assist you.

Thank you for being a valued customer!

Best regards,”

I’ve replied stating the problem I’ve faced

I hope local businesses see this review so they don’t get stung with this run and hide method that seems to have been applied in my circumstances.

I’ve had to make contact with other branches to try and get an answer and it’s been escalated to directors and I’ve heard nothing whatsoever.

I need this matter resolved as I’ve been advised nearly 4/5 months on with no contact or resolution that it’s a trading standards issue .

Poor Service

The services seemed very good to start off with at the Preston Site, staff was very helpful, but once you bought the car, they didn't want to know, just fobbed you off with excuse after excuse, it wasn't as if I was getting a cheap car neither, we had actually bought 2 cars from the company the same day, one in morecambe and one in Preston, approx 500 mile round trip, so it wasn't that I could just pop round to chat with the problems I was having.
The better service came from the morecambe garage.
Wouldn't buy from these again....

Hi Bev,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear about your disappointing experience following your purchase at our Preston site. While we're pleased you initially found our staff helpful, it's clear that we fell short in the aftercare and follow-up, which is not the standard of service we aim to provide—especially for customers like yourself who made a significant commitment by purchasing two vehicles and traveling such a long distance.

We take your comments seriously and are particularly concerned to hear that you felt dismissed after the sale. That’s not the experience we want anyone to have, and we’ll be looking into how this situation was handled so we can address it directly with the team involved.

It’s encouraging to hear the Morecambe branch offered a better experience, and we will certainly share that positive feedback with them. In the meantime, if there’s anything still unresolved, we would like the chance to make things right. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at [contact details] with your details so we can look into this further.

Thank you again for your honesty—it helps us do better.

Dear Audrey,

We’re sorry you feel this way, but we strongly disagree with your version of events.

Your situation was handled within the bounds of legal and industry standards, and while we understand delays can be frustrating, many were due to factors outside of our immediate control — all of which were communicated to you at the time. The vehicle in question passed a valid MOT conducted by a certified testing centre, and any concerns could have been independently verified had you chosen to do so.

As for your dealings with our manager, James, we have full confidence in his professionalism. Unfortunately, when expectations don’t align with reality, it can lead to misunderstandings, but aggression and unfounded accusations don’t help anyone.

You received a full refund at your own request, and while the timing was unfortunate, we acted promptly once your decision was made. The name change of the business is part of broader operational developments and has no bearing on your individual experience.

We appreciate all feedback — even negative — but we also have a responsibility to defend our team against inaccurate or misleading claims.

I had an absolutely terrible experience…

I had an absolutely terrible experience with MotorTrust a name that couldn't be more misleading! I put down a £500 deposit on a vehicle, with the clear understanding that it would be fully refundable if I decided not to proceed with the purchase. However, when I informed them I no longer wanted the car, they completely refused to return my money, despite multiple attempts to contact them.

I called numerous times, requested callbacks from staff members Ian and his manager, but was completely ignored. The level of customer service is shocking once they have your money, they don’t care about you at all. They may have gotten away with keeping my deposit, but they’ve lost a customer for life, and potentially many more once people read about this disgraceful treatment.

Avoid MotorTrust at all costs—because the only thing you can trust them to do is take your money and ignore you!

Dear Irfan,

We’re sorry you feel this way, but we must respond to correct the narrative you've presented.

When placing a deposit, all customers—including yourself—are made fully aware of the terms and conditions, which are provided in writing and agreed to before any payment is taken. The deposit you paid was clearly marked as non-refundable, which is standard practice across the industry to cover the costs of vehicle preparation and holding the car off the market.

We have records of communication attempts from our side, and we’re disappointed to see those efforts ignored in your account. Our staff, including Ian and his manager, act professionally and follow procedures, and we stand by their handling of the situation.

We understand that not every transaction ends with a sale, but that does not justify making damaging and misleading claims about our business. We’ve served thousands of customers fairly and transparently, and we will continue to do so regardless of baseless online attacks.

We wish you all the best in finding a vehicle that suits your needs.

Sincerely,
The MotorTrust Team

Avoid at all costs unless you want extra cost to fix your new car..

This is my second review of this company after being told to take my first one down and my issues would be sorted out... I took it down because I fell for their excuses.
Back in February I bought a 2014 Nissan Juke Nismo, this should not have passed the 'aa approved checks' . I test drove the car and picked up a week later at the test drive I had pointed out some issues that weren't resolved :

1: Break disks at the rear were badly corroded and needed replacing and front ones looked to be getting the same. These wasnt done but was told if I had issues they would fix this.
2: chip in the drivers view of the windscreen (mot failure)

There was some minor paint work issues that was dealt with but at this point id of rather them sorted out the bigger issues.
So with these issues I have been consistently back and forth with phone calls and emails with this company since picking up the car, I will not put any names on here as that isn't fair on them and I believe these issues are from fault of the company and not the sales person who I dealt with although the lack of communication I am getting needs to be sorted.

So 24th of February my partner picked up my car for me and was told by the sales person if there was any issues with breaks to get back in touch, I agreed with my partner that it would be okay and felt comfortable and reassured by their words. My partner rang me on his way home said the breaks were squeaking so I booked it straight in for a pre mot assessment just incase there was other issues that I couldn't see myself.
The mechanic told us the windscreen wouldn't pass the Mot due to the size and placement of the chip, the rear breaks were a failure and the front were an advisory along with other advisories. So if this were to have actually been an MOT it would have failed.

Straight away I emailed a full detailed list to the sales person who sold me the car, i had no response and had to ring 3 days later, i was then told they would refund me some of the money to pay for the breaks and we agreed that if they paid the breaks and disks I would pay for the labor. They also said to get a quote for the windscreen and they would also pay for this.
Sent the breaks and disk quotes across and called the salesman to let him know and he said it would be in my bank within a couple of days (didn't happen), also spoke to him about the windscreen quote and said i was still searching for the best price. He said he would also see if there was anything he could do on his end to get someone to come fix it.
After this conversation I was calling and emailing almost daily to find out when the payment would be sent and to also find out any updates on the search for a company to do a windscreen replacement. Each time I called I was either told the person I was dealing with wasn't there or with a customer and would call me back but never received a call back.
After 3 and a half weeks of waiting on the money for the breaks and disks was finally sent to my bank. I called again and questioned where we was at for a windscreen replacement and the sales man just said to send him the lowest quote I had got and he would just get them to send me the money.
I sent this in an email straight away with the lowest quote I had,Its now been 2 weeks again waiting for this money to be sent and I have been ringing every other day to see when I will get these funds sent to me and low and behold the sales person is never in or available and no one else can help me.
As soon as I mention my first name anyone who is speaking to me knows exactly why I am calling. I get this can be irritating for them but when you buy a car it should be road worthy and I am in all my rights to chase this.
Any how, yesterday I called again was promised a call back and this didn't happen so called a second time to be told 'I have spoken to the manager who has said they are waiting for the excess invoice from your insurance' I questioned what they meant as this was something that was never agreed and apparently this is what has been agreed and was written down.
Theres a few issues with this, 1 I have not got wind screen cover on my insurance so this wouldn't have been something I agreed to, 2 this has never been mentioned to me, the last thing I was aware of was that I had sent a quote from a company and they would send me these funds and I could book it in. £368 is a lot of money to fork out in one go especially after just buying the car so I am unable to book this in until I 100% know they are going to do this but I have really lost all hope.

Anyway got an email finally from the sales person yesterday but wasn't really of any help.

The checks don't get done, if they had of been then they would of also noticed that the exhaust is fitted wrong and corroded and nearly dropping off so this is just more expense for me, and only got noticed when up on the ramp getting new breaks.

Just feels like one big scam and they only paid out for the breaks to get me to remove my review.

Dear Ms. Cherry,

We're genuinely sorry to hear that your experience with us has left you feeling this way. It's clear from your detailed feedback that you’ve been frustrated by both the condition of the vehicle and the communication throughout the resolution process, and for that, we sincerely apologise.

Our intention has never been to cause inconvenience or financial strain. We strive to ensure all vehicles meet our advertised standards, including AA Approved checks, and we're very disappointed to hear that you feel this was not upheld in your case.

While we acknowledge your concerns regarding the brakes, windscreen, and now the exhaust, we also understand your frustration regarding the delays in communication and payments. This is not the level of service we aim to provide. It’s especially disheartening to hear you feel your first review was dismissed unfairly — we take all feedback seriously, and your concerns should have been addressed more promptly and transparently from the outset.

We’d like the opportunity to make things right. A senior team member will review your case in full and reach out directly to resolve any outstanding matters. We want to restore your confidence in our dealership and ensure no customer feels the way you do.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention — your feedback helps us improve, even when it’s hard to hear.

I wish 0 stars was an option

I wish 0 stars was an option. Had ongoing issues since the day I collected the car in August which have not been resolved and have resulted in me having a car that will not go in Drive or Reverse (Auto). I have been ignored, lied to and blatantly had the piss taken out of me. Ben at the Preston branch is an absolute jobsworth whose word means absolutely nothing. Motortrust say all vehicles are inspected by AA yet multiple issues on receipt of the car. Absolute cowboys. I returned the car in September to be fixed which they did one job out of 6 (exhaust bracket) being in contact since OCTOBER with no help or support from them to resolve the other issues. EVERY email, phone call & message from myself has been ignored. I am not an unreasonable person but they are an impossible company to work with if you’re having any issues. Thank god my finance company seem to be on my side are helping me under the consumer rights act, thank god I know the law as I was laughed at on the phone by a salesman because I’d had the car 6 months (issues reported within 24 hours of collecting though!). Avoid the headache and avoid this company.. seems the branch has now disappeared from existence, 1 down 3 to go hopefully!

EDIT: my name is Abigail Melarangi REG AO16 RFL take a look through your records you will see I have not told a single lie … your salesmen are conmen and liars and your vehicles are sub standard. Every detail I have mentioned is fact. And I have been fobbed off about 10 times from your business so I will now let the finance deal with it..

I question, not only the wording, but the accuracy of your 'claimed' event log!

As you do not display your name, the car you purchased, or any factual detail, I must contest the content and report the review.
If you can take the time to speak to me directly and offer some clarity upon your experience, I maybe able to assist.

Horrendous

Horrendous. Unfortunately cannot give 0 stars.
Travelled 230 miles to collect car from thr Preston branch. Drove fine home and its gone downhill from there. Purchased car in October and waited until end of January after constant chasing to receive the v5 during which I discovered the car hadn't been taxed since the September!! Even though they assured my the tax was covered until Jan. I then had an issue with bonnet sensor which they did take care of under the warranty. Just a couple weeks later discovered an oil leak which had been there for some time and resulted in a £300+ bill I had to cover, then brake pads and discs at £250 paid by ME, then another warning light resulting in a whopping £850 covered by ME and now small holes in radiator costing ME another £950!!!! None of this being covered due to "wear and tear" of a newly purchased £16k car which has "SUPPOSEDLY " had a full AA check and MOT! (Car had not been serviced for almost 5 years either after checking Jag online!)

Hi, and thank you for your review!

It seems somewhat 'childish', to resort to putting a slanderous review on here, after not getting your own way!

The car had a Full AA Inspection and an MOT prior to sale and found no issues at that time.
The costs you have paid relate to general car ownership, we as a dealership would not replace brakes or a radiator, that has a hole in it, from driving over the last 5 months!
Whilst disappointing to be presented with these bills, (of which I empathise), we can not be held responsible for driving style/ damage to a radiator.

How anyone has scored this garage 5…

How anyone has scored this garage 5 stars is absolutely beyond me!
My nephew bought a car from these and she’s had issues from day one, two months later they are still giving him the run around.

Please do yourself a favour and stay away from this garage, don’t say you haven’t been warned.

I bet the five star reviews are either family and friends of theirs or they’ve been paid to write a good one!
