Got my last car here, very professional outfit. Was helped by a lad called Aidan, seemed a little timid but knew his cars and I appreciated his input. Overall great experience, would recommend.

Bad pro-sales action after errors and wrong doings

Saturday 11/04/2026, I went to Lancaster to pick up my Hyundai PF71 GDE hybrid.

During the trip to London, I noticed that the central part of the seats (the cup holders and the sides of the seats) got very hot, to the point of burning our legs.
I also noticed that the headlight switch, which alternates between automatic and manual modes, doesn't work, and that the exhaust pipe was making a loud noise (the mechanic I saw when arriving London said that a part of the exhausting pipe would need to be replaced).
The car was purchased from Motor Trust UK - Lancaster and is under warranty from Autoguard.

I am in contact with Hyundai - Chiswick, London for a full inspection and warranty repair.

I am very disappointed to have received the car in such poor condition and the fact i did contacted by email motor trust Lancaster and no reply or apologies from them.

So helpful

So helpful, I booked a viewing over the phone the next day before, but got held up, no worries at all when I did turn up, still able to take it for a test drive and Louis made it seem like he had all the time to answer questions about driving a hybrid and an automatic, both of which were new to me. Very clear communication about all aspects of the finance process and I am really pleased with the purchase.

Blatant lies to secure sale

Unfortunately, I have had a shocking experience with this garage and still there is no end in sight

I purchased a car from them in August 2025 for around £15,000, however, before the deal was signed I naturally took the car for a test drive. While on this test drive I noticed a large chip on the windscreen in the drivers line of sight and it was all I could really focus on as it was so prominent

On returning to the garage I pointed this out to my sales rep (I will not mention his name) and was told that it had just been filled and it will improve over the next few days. This gave me some hope, however, I asked what would happen if it didn’t improve and I was told to go and get it fixed myself and they would pick up the invoice. I signed the deal and left the showroom disappointed I had just bought a new car with a big chip in my line of sight on the windscreen but knowing that if it didn’t improve then I could get it fixed myself and Motortrust would pick up the invoice. Well, the chip never improved even slightly and 5 days after picking up the car I sent the garage photos and told them I would go and get quotes to get it fixed, as discussed

I took the car to Autoglass to get it repaired but was told that, since it had been filled already, it could not be filled again!. The only way to get rid of the chip was to get a new windscreen! I took it to Premier Windscreens for a 2nd opinion and was told the same

I asked for a quote for a new windscreen, which was appx £450 and sent this quote to Motortrust, along with a full summary of my conversations with the 2 windscreen replacement companies

The response from Motortrust was to thank me for updating them and to highlight they only had a £40 maximum limit that they would pay! – this is the first time any sort of condition / limit had been mentioned. They suggested I put the windscreen through my own insurance and they would pay excess up to £100 as a “goodwill gesture”!!

I sent an official complaint to Motortrust to highlight that the chip hadn’t improved at all and that the only way it could be fixed was to replace the windscreen and that Motortrust were now refusing to carry out their promise of paying for it to get fixed

I also highlighted that no conditions or limits were mentioned to me at all when purchasing the car, these were only mentioned after I sent the quote for a new windscreen

Incredibly, the response back from a manager at Motortrust was to inform me that the chip had actually been filled some 4 months earlier and it was as good as it would get. Again highlighting that the best they could do was to cover my excess on my insurance. They were still expecting me to put it through MY insurance

But more concerning was the fact that this information clearly highlighted that I’d been lied to when picking up the car. This chip hadn’t just been filled as I had been told and therefore it had no chance of ever improving. This was all just a lie to get me to complete the sale. I would imagine the blatant omission of any conditions for getting it fixed were left out on purpose as well

Motortrust are not in denial that there is a big chip in my line of sight. For example on one of emails I have from then it states “We completely understand your concerns, particularly given the chips location within the drivers line of sight”, however, they are still point blank refusing to honour their promise and do whats required to get rid of this chip

I sent my case to the Ombudsman but have only recently been told that Motortrust have not registered with the Ombudsman so I have now proceeded to take my case to court through the small claims route and have informed Motortust that I am doing this

Meantime, I am still driving the car I bought off them for £15,000 with a big chip in my line of sight!

EXCELLENT SERVICE

Recently part ex'd my Hyundai Tucson for a newer Model from Motortrust Lancaster and can not fault the transaction from start to finish. Connor was the young man who dealt with us. He was very knowledgeable and was very professional throughout. I had looked at a car at a dealership in Preston prior to going to Motortrust but was appalled by the service and the way I was treated and the fact I was misinformed by the man dealing with me that I cancelled the car from them. I looked at Motortrust website and saw the car I wanted. We made arrangements to visit and look at the vehicle and take it for a test drive. I had previously bought the vehicle I was part exing from their Garstang dealership. I would not hesitate to recommend Motortrust Lancaster to anyone wanting a new vehicle. All the staff are very friendly . Even though we had decided which vehicle we wanted we didnt feel pressured by any of the salesmen whilst looking around. Connor is definitely one of the most genuine nicest sales persons I have ever dealt with. He is the guy you need to speak to If your looking for a new car .
Give these guys at Motortrust a call. They have a great selection of vehicles to suit all budgets and you won't be disappointed 😊😊
