This is a long one but worth a read…
This is a long one but worth a read before buying a car from here!
I’d like to start by saying that all of the sales and reception staff at Motorpoint Swansea were absolutely fantastic. They were professional, friendly, patient, and incredibly helpful throughout my visit. This review is in no way a reflection of them or the service they personally provided. My disappointment lies solely with the quality of the car that was sold to me and the preparation carried out before collection.
When I first viewed the car, everything appeared perfect. The alloy wheels were immaculate, the car drove beautifully during the test drive, and I left feeling excited about my purchase. However, when I returned a week later to collect the car, the alloys looked completely different. At first glance, they appeared badly scratched, but when we ran our fingers over them, the paint simply flaked away. It quickly became obvious that the alloys had recently been resprayed and that the paint hadn’t been given enough time to cure before the car was washed. The finish looked matte and completely different from when I had first viewed the car, making it feel like a rushed and poor-quality repair.
Because of this, I was unable to take the car home that day and had to return a few days later. This was a huge inconvenience. I had already cancelled the insurance on my previous car, assuming I would be driving my new one home, so I had to arrange an extension on my old policy. As a business owner, I also had to take additional time away from work to collect the car again, which impacted both my time and my income.
Unfortunately, the issues didn’t end there. Within a couple of days of driving the car, I noticed an awful rubbing noise coming from the brakes. I had been assured that the car had undergone an MOT and all necessary checks before collection, so this came as a real surprise. I took the car back at the earliest available appointment, only to be told that the rear brake pads needed replacing.
This raises a serious question: how was this not identified during the MOT or pre-delivery inspection? In my opinion, the car should never have been handed over in that condition. Once again, I had to rearrange client appointments, lose valuable working time, and return a few days later to have the repairs completed. While I appreciate that the issue was ultimately rectified, it should never have happened in the first place.
The car is only just approaching three years old, and given the amount of money I paid for it, I expected it to feel close to new. Instead, my experience has involved repeated trips back to the dealership, unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and lost income. What should have been an exciting experience has been overshadowed by frustration and disappointment.
I also chose to finance the car through a PCP agreement with Motorpoint, and I can’t help but question whether this level of preparation is typical. It certainly doesn’t fill me with confidence for future purchases.
I want to reiterate that every issue I raised was eventually resolved, and the staff I dealt with remained courteous and professional throughout. However, I am extremely disappointed with the standard of vehicle preparation and the quality control carried out before the car was deemed ready for sale. Customers spending this amount of money should be able to drive away with confidence, not immediately encounter faults that require repeated visits back to the dealership.
Overall, while the customer service from the sales team deserves praise, the preparation and inspection of the vehicle fell well below the standard I expected, and unfortunately that has completely taken the excitement out of buying my new car.
What has disappointed me further is that, despite the repeated inconvenience, multiple trips back to the dealership, lost working time, and loss of income, there was never any offer of goodwill or recognition of the disruption caused. I wasn’t expecting anything unreasonable, but a simple gesture of goodwill—such as a complimentary service or similar courtesy—would have gone a long way in showing that Motorpoint genuinely valued me as a customer and appreciated the inconvenience I had experienced. Instead, I was simply expected to keep returning until the issues were resolved. While I’m grateful the faults were eventually put right, I believe the overall experience fell well short of what should be expected when purchasing a car of this value.
The most alarming part was the complete lack of accountability, care and safety from the staff for a serious brake fault that should never have passed an MOT or pre-delivery inspection. It has left me with no confidence in Motorpoint Swansea and the clear impression that selling the car mattered more than customer safety.

I went to Motorpoint in Swansea being a little sceptical about them as I had 15 years Motor trade experience myself working for Ford & VW Main dealers.
I had seen a Golf advertised at their Peterborough branch which was low mileage and competitively priced.
Jodie went through everything very well, and even offered a higher price for my part exchange than they had quoted as an offer on their website prior to visiting.
And a lot higher than We Buy any Car.
I then found an identical Golf advertised at their Leeds branch and went back to see Jodie to change the car, fully expecting to pay a further delivery fee of £199.
However this was waived.which was totally unexpected.
Car when arrived was absolutely spot on and immaculate apart from one stone chip being pedantic.
I can’t recommend enough Jodie 100% professional.
And why on earth anyone visits Trade Centre Wales absolutely baffles me. When Motor points cars are so well priced.

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff
We dealt with Alex once we found the car we wanted. Alex was very polite, respectful, funny and helpful. He was very knowledgeable and what he wasn’t sure about he always checked and returned with a positive response. He hadn’t been with the company very long but was very knowledgeable. We then dealt with Alisha at the front desk who was very polite and very helpful, very nice young lady. We had a lovely experience.

My experience with Motorpoint has been…
My experience with Motorpoint has been extremely disappointing.
I purchased my car believing it came with a valid manufacturer's warranty and a full service history. When the vehicle developed a serious fault, I was later informed that the 2024 service history cannot be located.
Despite this, I am now being told that I need to pay for further diagnostics and obtain evidence from MG before Motorpoint will consider helping. At the same time, Motorpoint has acknowledged that a missing service history does not automatically invalidate a warranty, yet they are requiring me to prove that the missing service is the sole reason any warranty claim is refused.
The communication has also been frustrating. Responses have often taken several days, leaving me without answers while my car has been off the road. I have had to chase for updates repeatedly, and I now feel as though the responsibility has been passed entirely onto me, despite the missing service history being an issue that came to light after my purchase.
The matter is still ongoing, so I cannot comment on the final outcome. However, based on my experience so far, I cannot recommend Motorpoint. I hope they reconsider their approach and take greater responsibility for resolving this situation fairly

We wanted to sell our car
We wanted to sell our car . Took our car to Swansea on Monday 27thJuly 2.30pm they deducted £50 because mileage was different but we had to drive there. Promised money within 2 hours we left and and went home. The next day the money still wasnt in the account we called up Swansea at 5.10pm the manager had gone home. The receptionist said the accounts dept had a backlog but this isnt our problem. So their advert about getting paid in 60 seconds or the next day is misleading. Be very careful when dealing with them. All is not as promised.
