This is my second year paying annual insurance for my iPhone 16e, which was purchased brand new from Apple UK. Unfortunately, when I actually needed to make a claim, the experience turned into a long, stressful, and frustrating.
I lost my phone on 29 March 2026. Because all of my accounts (Apple ID, Google, Microsoft, etc) had two-factor authentication enabled, I was immediately locked out and unable to access anything without either my SIM or the trusted device itself. I had to request a replacement SIM just to regain access to my accounts and begin the claims process.
Next day as soon as I was able to access my email via my laptop, I contacted the insurer to report the loss. Instead of receiving support, I was told to start a claim, which then turned into a -long process involving a chain of emails. From the beginning, it felt like the process was being unnecessarily delayed.
Even after providing information, they repeatedly asked for the same details again and again, while also adding new requirements at each stage. I also received phone calls where I was asked the same questions repeatedly, such as when and how the phone was lost, what I was doing at the time, what I was wearing, and whether I had heard the phone fall.
Some of the excessive and unreasonable requests included:
• My Google Maps timeline for the entire day the phone went missing
• Proof of purchase (provided multiple times)
• Explanation that the phone was a gift from my wife, followed by requests to prove the relationship
• Requests for proof of my registered address (utility bills)
• Multiple written statements explaining exactly what I last used the phone for and how I retraced my steps
• Being required to pay a third-party company just to report the device as lost
Despite fully cooperating and providing everything requested, they continued to question the claim and introduce further delays.
Because I rely heavily on my phone for work and daily communication, I had no choice but to purchase a replacement device out of my own pocket while the claim was still ongoing, as the delays were significantly affecting my ability to function normally.
After the Easter holidays, and only once I regained access to my Apple ID and activated Lost Mode, I was eventually contacted by someone who had found my phone. According to them, the device had switched off, and they had to get it charged elsewhere before seeing my message and returning it to me.
While I am grateful to have the phone back, this does not change the fact that the claims process was unnecessarily difficult, prolonged, and stressful. Since informing the insurance company that the device has been recovered, they have now stopped responding to my emails completely.
Additionally, in recovered phone SIM is not functioning (no service). My network provider has confirmed it has been unblocked on their end, yet I am still experiencing issues, and the insurer has provided no assistance.
Overall, this experience felt less like a fair and supportive insurance service and more like a process designed to delay, exhaust, and discourage customers from completing their claims.
After reading other reviews, I can see that many people have experienced similar issues, which raises serious concerns about how this company handles claims.
I would strongly advise anyone considering this insurer to think twice and look for a provider that offers a more transparent, efficient, and customer-focused service.
