Great idea, poorly implemented and terrible support

I was taught that when writing a critical review one should start and finish with positives and put the criticism in the middle, (The so-called **** sandwich), so here goes... Positive
The idea of Lima is brilliant.

The implementation is truly terrible, the device was unreliable, I couldn't get it to work on Windows of any flavour , it DID work on a Mac and Linux, perhaps surprisingly. Tech support was only provided by email, and it seemed to consist of Uninstall and reinstall the app. Not much more! Now I have received an email to say that they are closing their doors and it will cease to function , so I am left with an expensive paperweight. I can only hope they will hand over the product to the community and they will sort it all out, but I doubt it. I have been left feeling bruised, misused and ripped off while they ride off into the sunset. Don't go near them, or any future product they produce. However back to the positive to finish
It is a nice shade of blue

A total bust

A total bust, unbelievably difficult to set up, UI poorly designed, was offline for months, tried to use again and now manufacturer says its broken and out of warranty, I hope I can get my data off the external drive. Worthless product...

It started out OK

It started out OK, as it usually does. Until my Lima hard drive had a mechanical failure then it all got complicated and you realise that the thing is a liability just when you really don't want it to be. So after spending much more time than it warrants I am cutting my losses, using the cloud and popping the little Lima box in the PCB recycling bin.

Slow tech support. Poor software design. Works after you get some support.

After multiple attempts, the device gives problems in installation. Not very fault tolerant. Once you get an error, you have to look for support. a lot of the support pages have been moved or don't exist on the website. Sent multiple questions to their support team but no answer.
Update: You need a special uninstaller before you reinstall else the application will give all sorts of errors. Once the support team sent me the uninstaller, the reinstall worked and I was able to log in and use the disk.
It has been working fine after that on iPad/macs.

Poor product

Poor product, poorly supported. No backup from the company about updates, improvements, or even "sorry". I've put mine in the bin. (I'm running OS X - maybe it's better on Linux, or even Windows?)

A Total Scam!

1- Buying is a hassle! They charge you $120 for the new version and you get it from overseas after weeks and weeks of waiting... They give you only 15 days return period which is a scam, since it takes them forever to respond to your emails trying to trouble - shoot the product problems.
2- Customer service is horrible! The only way to contact them is via email that would be answered after 24 hours at the fastest!! My last email with questions was sent 3 days ago and I haven't received any response so far! I offered to make a call to them on my own expense, so I get answers faster, but they rejected it.
3- The device software is not flexible and it doesn't allow automatic upload and storage option; meaning you have to upload every picture and every document manually to get it stored in your external hard drive..
Buyers: Don't make my mistake; I trusted them and bought the pricy device and I regret it now!

Does not work on Mac

Stay away - tried 2 of these configured differently and neither work on Mac (El Capitan). Response from support was the same auto generated message - sorry! Lima is broken, suggest replacement - with no direction as to getting refund etc.

LIMA TECHNOLOGY INC / Cloud Guys - SCAM - Do NOT Buy - BUYER BEWARE

"Build your personal cloud in seconds! Just $99 one time"

What is not readily disclosed obviously on their site is that the product takes some time to ship and once it arrives the customer has only 15 days to return it for a refund if they can't get it to work or if it is defective.

Ordinarily, if you are dealing with a company like Zappos or Amazon that would be fine; however this company outsources their customer support to China via an email ticketing system. Product arrived fine but I was never able to get it to work and I have 20 years in computers and internet. By the time their off-shore support team finally responded to me and routed me through various troubleshooting documents, my 15 day period had expired.

I am now stuck with a $99 paperweight that doesn't work from a company that in no way stands behind what they sell. It is borderline criminal to set a 15 day return policy and combine it with an offshore support team who is slow to respond. There's no way a customer having trouble can get this thing to work within the 15 day period. I'm sure these guys are making hundreds of thousands of dollars off of unsuspecting customers with this policy.

BUYER BEWARE - When you sell a product and stipulate a 15-day return policy, and then take longer than 15 days to go through the support process to get it to work, THIS IS FRAUD.
