A great service from Matthew James Removals on our recent move from Andalucia Spain to the UK. Everything was packed and loaded with great care and experience and arrived in the Uk in perfect state. All the guys have been really great, friendly, helpful and hard working. Really pleased we chose this company to help us move! Thanks to all!

We recently used Matthew James Global Relocations (MJGR) to move our belongings from Southern Italy to the South of England, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From our initial online quotation request to the final delivery, MJGR proved to be a highly professional and reliable organisation. This is an unsolicited review — we have no connection with MJGR other than as satisfied customers.

Within just a couple of hours of submitting our enquiry online, Max called us. His polite, friendly, and straightforward manner immediately gave us confidence that we were in good hands. There was no hard sell, just clear and helpful information. Max became our main point of contact throughout the move, ensuring everything ran smoothly.
At first, researching Customs requirements online made the process seem daunting. However, Max explained MJGR’s efficient inventory system, which accurately recorded every loaded item. Once we submitted our TOR 1 form, MJGR took care of the rest — and the potential headache disappeared.

The removals team, Adrian and Marius, were exceptional. They were polite, hardworking and efficient throughout the process. Adrian, in particular, truly stands out as an ambassador for MJGR — professional, enthusiastic, and clearly proud of his work. The offloading in the UK was completed even faster than expected, yet with the same care and attention to detail as the loading. Gary, who assisted during delivery, was equally hardworking and a pleasure to deal with.

We are unlikely to move again, but if we do, MJGR will be our first choice without hesitation.

The quality of the collection and delivery was excellent. There was some confusion about dates which we found stressful. Overall a good experience.

Moving personal belongings from the UK to our Spainish family holiday home.
I chose this service based on the understanding that delivery would take approximately two weeks, as stated on their website and their surveyor who visited to assess for a quote. In reality, my delivery took close to six weeks. This delay had a serious impact on me personally and professionally, including contributing to me having to accept unpaid leave at work and eventually losing my job due to the uncertainty around timing.

The constant delays and lack of clear communication also had a negative impact on my health. I rely on regular prescription medication, and due to the uncertainty around delivery, I was forced to seek additional medical support while abroad. The stress and unpredictability of the situation made me unwell and impacted me further when I lost my job.

Despite the delay being outside of my control, I was then charged storage fees for this extended period. I was also told that my belongings would not be released until these charges were paid, which left me with no option but to proceed.

Communication throughout was extremely poor. I was not kept properly updated and had to repeatedly chase for information.

I was also later told that a “shuttle service” had been included in my quote — something that was never explained to me at any stage and is not clearly itemised in the documentation I accepted. As a customer, I would not have known what this meant or that it was required. I was invoiced for overspill, even though I was given a quote after their surveyor did his assessment and the delayed delivery… storage fees.

To top it all when my items were finally delivered, some goods that I had been told would be properly packaged were not packaged at all and they arrived broken/damaged.

Overall, this has been a very stressful and disappointing experience. There has been a clear lack of transparency, accountability, and customer care from start to finish. They appear professionally, until they get your money. I lost my job because of their incompetence and total lack of care. This is not my first time transporting furniture overseas and never experienced anything negative. I would never use nor recommend Matthew James.

The guys who packed our house away were professional, kind and courteous. It was a long day for them but they just carried on, always happy and friendly.

First class service from the pick up of our consignment from home in Cheshire through to the delivery to the Languedoc in France three weeks later. Professional service and good communication through out.

The customer service was very good but the delivery men were in too much of a hurry to unload the lorry and deposit the goods and leave. This resulted in some of the furniture being scratched when the packing was removed in a hasty manner, using a Stanley knife. Some items were placed in the wrong rooms and some small items were missing. The allocated time for each load that day needed to be extended and this would have given the delivery men the time needed to carefully unpack everything.

Matthew James were fantastic from start to finish. We were moving from abroad which was very stressful, but they from the first phone call they were very professional and patient and responded to all my queries promptly and made it all a lot less stressful.
On the moving day itself, moving guys Adrian and Marius were absolutely fantastic. They just got on with it and worked so hard for hours (Adrian really knows his stuff and predicted how long it would take to the half hour).
Everything arrived to the house in perfect condition and again Adrian and Marius were great and careful of the house and our belongings.
I would certainly recommend Matthew James and if we move they will be my first call.

Stress free and easily organised with Matthew James. Someone always on hand to help with questions and queries. Andy who delivered our furniture was really professional and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Our hired storage unit was not that big but Andy managed to get everything in the tight space. Very impressed we

Lovely people to deal with. Everything worked to plan, even when the weather tried to get in the way. A really good business to deal with and great value for money.

The move team did a reasonably good job, however there is damage to a wardrobe, none of bed heads boards were attached and a dressing table was not reassembled.

Very friendly staff throughout the company. I had concerns about sending my goods from Germany to the UK. As soon as I accepted the quote I felt I was in good safe hands. I was right. Everything went smoothly.

Very responsive staff from Max Oughera to his various assistants - easy to contact by phone and email - furniture picked up and delivered with no problems . The price was quite high for a small part load but worth it to have a trouble free shipment through French customs .

Overall, very pleased with the whole experience. Good communication along the way, from initial assessment to the final delivery. There was an issue with the pick up date as the transport was delayed at customs at some point, but the alternative date worked out well. All the items were carefully packaged (on top of our own packaging), and arrived in perfect conditions (including my cherished mirrors!). Overall, a successful cross-Europe move, very pleased, would recommend MJR's services.

My preparation with the team was great, the two team members who collected my items and the two who delivered them were really friendly and knew what they were doing. Worth noting that the TV-specific boxes are just regular boxes shaped differently, are not stronger and do not contain any additional protection, only whatever protection the removal team add, the same as with other boxes. My only hesitation for 5 stars is that I was unable to reach my move manager for most of the time that my items were in transit and delivered. He didn't respond to emails/call back after call attempts and I had to email/call and ask other team members for information and updates (which they did look into and give - thank you!). But it's a big cost to do a move, a designated move manager should really be a bit more on it with the customer side of things, I didn't feel very supported.

Both the Collection crew, George & Scott collection &the delivery team Alan & Jack were polite, very efficient and could not have been more helpful.

My removals was from Italy to Scotland so a slightly complicated and challenging job. I had a historic Fiat 500 to bring, multiple pieces of delicate furniture that were my grandma’s, the complication of not having a completion date on ny flat purchase in Scotland until the last minute, not to mention the paperwork! The team at Matthew James dealt with everything swiftly and with empathy. The guys making the collection and delivery were fantastic. I felt very reassured by their experience and tenacity! Thanks to the team and everyone involved in making my move as smooth as was possible.

Must WARN about the contract conditions for international removals. The move can be delayed with no limit and you will be charged for the delay! In our case it took 48 DAYS to receive our things from Spain to France. Initially they said 1-2 weeks, as it was a shared transport, they put our stuff in their own warehouse in Spain, while waiting to fill a truck. But after two weeks nothing happened, and after that they gave a new delivery date every week and charged almost 500 EUROS for one extra month of storage in their warehouse, with the words: pay now or we will not deliver. During this waiting time we had no idea when or even if we would ever see our things again. Had lost all trust in them. We had to buy a lot of things, for example vacuum cleaner, ladder, so many tools, hair dryer, coffee machine, matrasses (luckily there were beds), bedlinen, quilts, pillows, clothes, towels, and household/kitchen items, technical stuff, you name it, so much... ALL our things were in their warehouse! So not only was it a nightmare not knowing if we would ever see our things again, it was also very costly. They delayed and we had to pay them extra for that, three times the price of a normal storage facility. So this is clearly a business concept, delaying and making the clients pay more. As the conditions are in their favour only, you just have to wait. In our case we had been stood up by another moving company so this was a last minute order, and as their sales office said 1-2 weeks it felt ok as it was an urgency to get out of the house. Why I have given 3 stars? The workers, the men, carrying, packing and driving were very nice and helpful, professional, so that is why. But, unfortunately I cannot recommend Matthew James Removals for an international move. It is just not a good experience. Maybe shorter moves are ok, but definitely not international...

A very good service and your men worked tirelessly in pouring rain when they collected the furniture etc.
On the delivery to Exmouth the team were just as courteous and professional although there was one package which was missing which was number 40. After emptying all boxes over the last few weeks it had not been found. I can only remember one item which can’t be accounted for and that is a grey garden umbrella
I was contacted by the company and without hesitation have been compensated for the loss of garden umbrella .
