Great experience from first call to moving day. The survey was very thorough and transparent, the pickup and delivery was very smooth, and the cost was very fair and reasonable. MJR is a very well-oiled machine and I would definitely use their services again. Highly recommended. Faultless move
From the initial move assessment to the day of the move Matthew James staff were brilliant. They were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Our Acct Manager Chris was so patient with us whilst we finally found a house. Our crew on the day, Ben, Jack and Andre were great! They were professional, friendly and efficient. Sentimental things safely home!
I needed to bring various possessions of sentimental value back to the UK from Spain. So nothing like a large house removal, but this didn't present Matthew James with any problems. The two local men who packed up my things were meticulous and helpful. Everything went perfectly, everyone was helpful and efficient. Well done.

Fine until you find you have broken pieces
Communication was good, packing was fine. But then they combined our load with a load containing a car. This is a known issue for passing through customs. Of course the load was stopped and sat at a border for some time. 5 weeks after they picked up our stuff and sent it from London to Madrid, the items finally arrived. Unfortunately, we found several broken frames and ceramics. I have tried to get someone to talk to me about some kind of reimbursement but my emails remain unanswered. I would not have expected this kind of dis-service from a Global Moving companyh

Poor handling of customs clearance
The guys who collected and packed were excellent. They were professional, helpful and polite. Our goods were very well taken care of. On arrival in Spain from UK the guys were equally efficient and professional.
Our huge disappointment was the customs department. We know for a fact that we were entitled to import without customs duties. We fulfilled all the criteria and supplied all the required documentation. We know we did everything correctly, having gone through the process twice in the last few months to import a car and a motorbike with a different company with absolutely no problems.
There was no transparency at all for the customs process. Communication was very poor.

Excellent and careful service from Matthew James. I moved a relativley small load (5 cubic metres) from Leeds to Milan from my parent's property. Previoulsy (with another company) I had moved my full house from Wales to Milan, and while this full move was generally OK, some stuff got lost (a chair - bizarre), and a few bits were broken (microwave, another chair, a few mugs etc), these were less than the cost the full insurance would have been, it was annoying and seemed careless, with no real resolution.
In contrast, Matthew James were absolutely perfect - absolutely nothing was damaged, everything arrived as I or they had packed it, crockery, TV, pictures, a few bits of larger furnitire. They were really quick (and easy) to organse the pickup at what felt like the last minute as my parents' house sale suddenly moved very quickly after new year, and delivery followed 15 days after pick-up. The crews who collected and delivered were great, helpful and friendly. This wasn't the cheapest quote (over twice the the cost of cheapest one, who had shockingly bad reviews on facebook), but you get what you pay for I think, and this was a faultless service. I cannot criticise them at all, and I will be happy to reccommend them to anyone I know who finds themselves moving abroad.

We recently used Matthew James Global Relocations (MJGR) to move our belongings from Southern Italy to the South of England, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From our initial online quotation request to the final delivery, MJGR proved to be a highly professional and reliable organisation. This is an unsolicited review — we have no connection with MJGR other than as satisfied customers.
Within just a couple of hours of submitting our enquiry online, Max called us. His polite, friendly, and straightforward manner immediately gave us confidence that we were in good hands. There was no hard sell, just clear and helpful information. Max became our main point of contact throughout the move, ensuring everything ran smoothly.
At first, researching Customs requirements online made the process seem daunting. However, Max explained MJGR’s efficient inventory system, which accurately recorded every loaded item. Once we submitted our TOR 1 form, MJGR took care of the rest — and the potential headache disappeared.
The removals team, Adrian and Marius, were exceptional. They were polite, hardworking and efficient throughout the process. Adrian, in particular, truly stands out as an ambassador for MJGR — professional, enthusiastic, and clearly proud of his work. The offloading in the UK was completed even faster than expected, yet with the same care and attention to detail as the loading. Gary, who assisted during delivery, was equally hardworking and a pleasure to deal with.
We are unlikely to move again, but if we do, MJGR will be our first choice without hesitation.
