It took them 9 days to get my item to the post office after creating the shipping label.

I am quite impressed with my new forge, The construction on it is solid and well made. The packaging was done very well and ensured that there was no shipping damage. When I reached out with a question before purchasing I was responded to quickly and in a courteous manner.

The only con I have with my new forge, is that the Insulation blanket was not pre cut with a hole for the included forge burner, But that is a small thing to say the least.

Great forge, easy set up. Its always been a dream of mine to take up blacksmithing. I looked at building my own, but when i priced out all the parts, it was actually cheaper to go with Mathewson. Thank you

We still haven’t received our Forge. We ordered it about two weeks ago, and we were informed that it was shipped, but we haven’t received it. I called the company and they said that they haven’t received their shipment of a part that they needed to attach to the product, and that’s why it wasn’t shipped. They were very nice about it, and told me to give him a call with any other issues, but we still haven’t received the product. I think that they should’ve sent a follow up email after their email stating that the thing had shipped, indicating that it had indeed not shipped yet. So at this point, I can’t give an honest review about the product because we haven’t received it yet.

I’m satisfied with the product overall but there were a couple of issues to note. Shipping was a little slower than I would have hoped. From the time I placed the order to the time we received it was 2 weeks. The craftsmanship is not what I expected for a nearly $400 product with $76.00 in shipping costs. The forge does not sit level as the “feet” of the forge are not aligned from one end to the other. The welds are solid looking but not continuous and only spot welded (assumed to save time and cost). Overall the burner and forge heat up as designed and I hope to learn to bladesmith on this forge in the months and years to come.

Recently purchased the metal smith forge. Did an initial burn as recommended with no issues. The next day went to test it’s metal ( no pun intended). So I put a stick of 1” round bar in the forge. Soon started having intermittent burns and a few kick-backs where the burner lit in the air intake. Contacted Mike he had a few suggestions and I trouble shot the issue. I came to the conclusion that there may have been a little trash in the burner nozzle. Took it apart and cleaned.... hasn’t missed a beat since. This is a good piece, heats quick and recovers temp fast after the hammer. Buy one if you want to smash some steel.

This has been one of the best buying experiences I've had in a long time it's very nice dealing with a company that has integrity and morals something happened and my Forge didn't ship out when it should have and Mike and his team made it right in more ways than one and I really appreciate the way they handle their selves very professional and very courteous I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is trying to get in to the blacksmithing trade their forges have great quality and you can see the experience in the way the forges are made fired up right out of the box didn't have to adjust anything got up to forging temperatures quickly and it low PSI I plan on doing much more business with them I have waited to post this review until after I have put the forge through its paces I would like to personally thank Mike and his team for all they have done for me and for the integrity and the professionalism that they have showed throughout this whole buying experience I really do appreciate it and I highly recommend them to anyone else out there looking for a forge

I just took my forge from the package, It is strong and well built that is easy to see.

Absolutely amazing burner. Super well built and very efficient. It was very easy to integrate into my homebuilt round bodied forge and I don't even have a welder. If you were on the edge about this I hope this review pushes you over it. this is a great product and so far I have had no problems with the customer service at all. Thank you, Mike!

I live near this shop (even took a smithing class here), so I got to see the forge before I purchased it. Works great, I can get three sessions of about 4 hours each on a 4.5 lb tank of propane. Got “upsold” to the MetalSmith forge (was going to get the Knifesmith), glad I spent the extra money.

One thing to be aware of, the Metalsmith needs to be heated up the first time to make sure the cement is fully cured and then allowed to cool prior to first time use. This is an important, yet frustrating step meaning your new toy will take an extra couple of hours to be really useable.

The quality appears good. Shipping was delayed due to regulator being on back order. All in all a great purchase and good response advisong of the delay. Will purchase another in the future.

great little forge works well faster than my old one

Online showed my order in stock, yet it didn't actually ship for several days.
Packing of order was poor.

I have been making knives and edged weapons for some time but I relied on other people for hardening. I decided to take the next step and build a forge for myself. I found your combo burner / regulator set up and it was inexpensive so I gave it a try. I am very pleased with the quality, construction, and performance and i would recommend these products for anyone interested in this hobby.

Good prices,good delivery time.my only gripe would be that your web site took forever to update.it said "preparing shipment" for 2 days and was at my door.its good it got here before the site said it was out for delivery,just might be confusing for customers in the future...btw I changed it to the 4 star rating I tried but somehow it reset to 1 and I didn't notice it when I posted the review

Great customer service! I recommend when purchasing through their PayPal payment system you must set up a PayPal account. I tried the second option of just using a debit or credit card option and PayPal screwed it up by not submitting my purchase or charging my card even though it prompted at thanks for your purchase screen. Which left me and Matthewson Metals in the dark about my purchase! I bought the metalsmith forge and it’s very well built and it works great!

Took a while to ship. A shipping lable was created 3 days after order and sat for another 4 days before it actually shipped. Be prepared to wait a while

Very well built heavy duty forge. Comes up to temperature rapidly and is economic to run. Mike is a true gentleman to do business with. I am very pleased with the quality and workmanship of the forge as well as the entire buying experience.
