Based on what you describe, we believe the edits made might have been made directly on the PPT slide, which isn’t the recommended approach. For the best results, we suggest using our tools: Edit Data, Edit Timeline, Style Pane, and Refresh Data (for imports). A quick tip: Edit Timeline, our “drag-and-drop” environment, is a favorite among users and makes creating organizing timelines very quick and easy. We’d love to hear how it works for you!

To help make things even easier, we also offer different ways to create timelines — including importing data directly from MS Project, which we think you may find useful.

Thank you for your message and for sharing your concerns. I understand the frustration — it’s never our intention to create confusion or disrupt your workflow.

I’d like to clarify a few points regarding the Lite plan and how it differs from the Free plan:

1. Transparency on plan features: On our purchase page (Buy PowerPoint Add-In section), if you scroll down, there’s a comparison chart outlining all plan differences. We also maintain a detailed article here: https://support.officetimeline.com/difference-between-office-timeline-add-in-editions.

2. Free vs. Lite plan: The Free plan includes all Expert features but with two key limitations: a maximum of 10 tasks/milestones per timeline and no import options. The Lite plan is our entry-level paid plan, providing basic features with 2 swimlanes per timeline, no dependencies, and no triple timeband. This is why a timeline edited in Free can sometimes appear more flexible than in Lite.

3. Options to continue your work: You can deactivate the Lite license via PowerPoint (Office Timeline ribbon → Help → Deactivate Machine) to return to the Free plan and continue editing your file. If Lite doesn’t meet your needs, you can upgrade to Plus or Expert by paying only the difference. We noticed you’ve already upgraded to Plus, which unlocks dependencies, multiple swimlanes & sub-swimlanes, and other advanced features.

4. Support & guidance: Our Learning Center, tutorials, and support team are always available to help navigate features and get the most out of your plan: https://www.officetimeline.com/learning-center.

5. 30-day refund policy: We offer a transparent 30-day refund policy for new purchases. If after reviewing the options above you feel the Plus plan is not suitable, we’re happy to provide a full refund — just let us know and we’ll process it promptly.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback — we really appreciate it. You’ve raised a good point about the flexibility users expect when managing task titles and dates.

Let me know if I'm not understanding you correctly- it is possible to reposition task titles even after placing them inside the task bar — and this remains true even if a milestone is placed upon the task.

One can make these changes either in Edit Timeline
or by using the Style Pane, depending on what works best. I’ve included a link below to a quick guide that covers these fundamentals.

For those larger timelines, PowerPoint's Design > Slide Size options let you create custom canvas sizes that work perfectly with our tool - giving you complete control over how your projects are presented.
