I self-published on KDP back in 2012. I published 7 books, 4 were humor focused poems and comics. Around 2018ish I gave up on writing for awhile and kind of forgot about the site. Then at 1 AM C... See more

Scam
Scam, they demand an imaginary number called IBAN, my bank does not use this... Amazon have no need for it... they are stealing data and their chatbot stonewalls me...
I wish I read these reviews before
KDP cancelled my account on two books, without specifying what the copyright problem was. I am trying to rectify this seemingly unprofessional, scamming operation, but I sure wish I had read this plethora of horrible warnings, before I invested my hard-earned $1k (but others have faired far worse!!) Be careful and standby for Ben Mark and Adrian Shaw to rectify this insane situation.
Update: Despite several attempts to query the KDP content review team about what problems they identified, which got the two books unpublished and cancelled my account, no results, nada, nunca, zero. I previously published 12 books with reputable publishers and will return that route, due to this outrageous lack of professionalism and transparency of a useless agreement. Please be careful with KDP.
I wish I read the reviews before I used…
I wish I read the reviews before I used them. Worst customer service and I will look into publishing my book elsewhere.
Do not use KDP. I wish I could go into details on what happened with me but I'm too pissed off not to use colorful words. 😒
I think there is some fraud at KDP
I think there is some fraud here. Having provided my credit card details my card was compromised an I refused payment, I tried to pay again with a different card and this too was compromised. I was continuously pressured with phone calls implying that if I didn’t pay for additional services, my book would not be published. I have finally got my book published. But this was a very bad experience. Don’t touch KDP with a barge;ole
Do NOT waste your money with Amazon Publishing
The Project Manager had zero clue what he was doing, and could not meet any deadlines. The only time he communicated with me was when I complained about nothing being done. Then it was always some excuse why he did not produce any results. There was a formatting issue after the book was submitted and his team could not find the issue over a 4 week period. I finally saw that there was a review button where I could look at it, and I saw clearly that there were two paragraphs in the middle of the book that were in a different type face causing the issue. When I pointed it out, it still took 6 weeks for them to make the change and republish it. Then when they did finally publish it, they left Chapter 2 out of the Table of Contents--a juvenile mistake.
It has now been 3 months since I pointed out that flaw and they still have not fixed it and republished it. The last straw is now they are saying it won't be completed for another 3 months because they are busy. Hmmmm busy enrolling other suckers, but never busy completing the projects for those of us who have already paid!!
The worst part I experienced is being over-charged $250 by Cody (the wanna-be PM) for author copies. When I called him on it, his boss (Steve) refunded me that amount--but still left him on my project--which was a major insult. How can I trust this liar and cheat to do anything for me now--much less why does he still have a job--unless that is acceptable behavior for the AMZ Publishing leadership team??
PAY TO PLAY SCAM!?!?
PAY TO PLAY SCAM!?!?
As you can see from the reviews below, they have a track record of terminating people for little to no reason. Then they KEEP all the unpaid money that is in your account.
If you use ASINseed.com you can see that the Best Sellers use copyright-stuffed keywords, but somehow are immune to a ban. More than likely they spending money on ads gaining them immunity. Furthermore, somehow on Fiverr there are people offering 100% account reinstatement if you pay $100 for the service. Are these KDP review staff taking advantage of people?
Yes, some people have success on KDP, but it is very clear there is some shady stuff going on.
I wish this was a good review, I like the idea of KDP, Unfortunately, in my experience, something isn't right and they refuse to communicate or fix it. I have enough evidence to make a Video including chats with people who claim to have access to KDP back end. I don't think this is KDP as a whole, I think it is the KDP Review Staff or at least some of them running a scam.
Wrongful termination of account
On October 17th, when attempting to log into my KDP account, I discovered it was terminated without prior notice. Despite maintaining only one account, KDP claimed it was due to multiple accounts. Despite numerous emails proving my sole account status, they upheld the decision. My books were unpublished, and reviews vanished. On November 8th and 14th, I received warnings of upcoming account termination for content violation, shifting from the initial claim of multiple accounts. Yet all this was done on 17th October. There were no more books to unpublish neither running account.I sought clarification on the alleged violations, emphasizing my titles' history since 2017. To ensure transparency, I requested specific details, but KDP declined. After a while my emails were ignored. My account unjustly remains terminated. I know my work didn't violate any kdp policies. It was published with them since 2017. If there were any content violation they would have noticed it years ago. It is strange that the excuses of closure of my account are different. Why they sent another two emails warning me about upcoming account termination when at that time I didn't have any accounts.
KDP Customer service must improve. Authors deserve fair treatment and proper communication. Account terminations should involve clear notices and opportunities for authors to address any concerns or provide evidence of compliance. A transparent and respectful process would benefit both authors and the platform, fostering trust and understanding.
This whole experience affected my sleep patern and gave me anxiety. It is not a good feeling when injustice done against you. When your work discarded like it is nothing and for no reason. When people refuse to hear your truth.
Almost forgot to mention two kdp employees told me that before terminating accounts kdp send out emails pointing out on issues giving an author an opportunity to correct them or ratify. Yet, I only got a notice after my account was terminated.
It's a dictatorship
It's a dictatorship, it's shocking how they treat people. Support the small independent book shops, Amazon doesn't need your money and you don't exist to them.
I unfairly had my account terminated by…
I unfairly had my account terminated by KDP. I have reached out to them to try to rectify the situation, but receive no replies. They claim "copyright" due to the fact that I used the word "Taylor Swift" in the title. However, a name cannot be copyrighted in a book and trademarks are not issued for book titles, I have checked. I have done nothing wrong, but the account was terminated and to make matters worse, they took all of my past due royalties (for books not related to this book as it was never even published).
I'm sorry,am a new person on kdp but…
I'm sorry,am a new person on kdp but the way the market can improve in this site is to make honest and paid those clients are sign petition against kdp on site app and after you make a decision to the clients, and am assure the sales will improve again.
The KDP Review Content Give me the Run around team, discrimination
I think someone or a couple of them are discriminating against me in the KDP Review Content Department. I want to know why?
The KDP Review Department asked me to address:
About my new ebook I wrote.
(Confirm Your Rights Ownership:)
I think they asked me this, because I did not do my designs in the Free 99 Goodwill shop.
I addressed it.
Yes, I confirm that my book meets the KDP Content Guidelines and that I am the
original creator of the content and hold the rights to publish this content. Again, I personally wrote and created the designs of my whole book and have the rights to what I have written and have designed.
Yes. I am the author of the book "What a Very Sexy Girl Wrote in Her Diary This
Week. I am the writer of the book and the designer of the book including the book
cover.

What a Very Sexy Girl Wrote In Her Diary This Week by Foster, Lajes (AUTHOR)
Yes, I have addressed that and put it under the right categories. Diary and letter category.

Fixed layout formatting is allowed for the following book types:
- Children’s picture books
- Comics
- Manga
A small amount of scanned or image-captured text is allowed as long as it is legible and pertains to the overall book content.)
Yes I have addressed it.
The text was not scanned it was from the original file, so whatever you said was in error. I have redone the file in the said requested format of text.
I have addressed the quality guidelines as you have requested. I am computer savvy enough to have fixed it and I have. Now let me submit the last update that you have requested for me to update.
There is a deadline they have given me and they won’t adjust my account, so I can upload the update.
2 days later, I uploaded my manuscript updates per their quality guidelines, and what happened next, they blocked the ebook.
They lied and said I had scanned text, when I worked hard on the manuscript and made it flowable text. The manuscript was perfect. The book is beautiful.
Like I've said in the following.
KDP needs to cleanup their Review Content Department.
KDP - Amazon theft
KDP approved all of my books - yet my account was closed after an audit.
All of my royalties are also "not being paid" - that's theft, Amazon has received money from my writing and has terminated my account without reason and kept the money.
Am a new beginning learning on this oil…
Am a new beginning learning on this oil and gas business.
I lost access to my account and royalties immediately after blocking scammers who were contacting me by phone and email.
Either a very complex scamming operation. Or just have no respect whatsoever for authors. Immediately after I blocked people I had become sure were scammers I lost access to my account and royalties, with no clear explanation why. I was also completely blocked from using Amazon as a customer.
Hassle-free self-publishing
I have been self-publishing under various personae on Amazon, and it has been great. Easy to order paperbacks and high-quality hardbacks to sell / give away, and the e-books are delivered seamlessly to Kindles. Of course they take a cut for all the work they (or their AI bots) do to publish the books and manage the sales, but it's a lot better than dealing with a traditional publisher if you are not a celeb / big name (I've gone down the trad publishing route in the past and I don't recommend it unless you have friends in the industry or are selling your public image rather than the story). Unlike trad publishers, the bots at Amazon KDP also root out fake reviewers (while they can be overzealous and block friends who posted honest reviews of each others' books, it is still better than the trad publishers' and book reviewers' system which is more about networking than honest reviewing).
Great experience
Great experience. It's very easy to navigate and get your book listed on Amazon.
We lost access to our kindle account…
I warm everyone to give something important like a book to the hands of this company. We lost access to our kindle account and they are still selling our book without our permission, and without paying our royalties. Every time I call to ask their help they invent all sorts of excuses or they play the game of balling me through different departments. In the meanwhile they keep cashing in. They are not worth the trust to give them your important work.
KDP is the worst publisher on earth
KDP is the worst publisher on earth. Because Amazon is a behemoth they don't care about the customer experience. The only positive thing I can say is that they do call you back within 5-10 minutes when you request a call during business hours. You never get one person dedicated to your case. Every single time you ask for help someone different answers. I can order the same book and it will come sometimes with glossy paper sometime with matte. They'll tell you glossy paper doesn't exist but my book has come in glossy paper multiple times--they just don't allow you to select it. If I order 10 copies of my children's book half will be good, the other half will have inconsistent white borders at the bottom or sides. I go through the same exact issue every month and it's never resolved. I can't tell you how many times Ive send pictures and order IDs.. It just happens again the following month. If you are a children's book author, please do yourself a favor and avoid Amazon KDP.
The worst possible program EVER
The worst possible program EVER! After 1 millions emails asking them to stop debiting my bank account, as I am out of the program, here I got 155 $ debited to them. I don't know how to get out. Even Emma said I couldnt! What should I do?!? Those scammers are the worst ever they don't care about you but just about the money you got.
Beware! KDP Amazon are scammers and thieves
I have books on Amazon kgp Amazon and they have locked my account they are thieves they have stole my books and I suggest that any Young author or any author of any age not to use KDP Amazon. You will be scanned.
