Company that leverages lack in information and network of foreigners looking to rent

It is what it is: the single-room rental market for students and young professionals is very difficult to navigate, especially for foreigners.

They have identified a clear gap and offer a convenient, user-friendly platform. That said, most of the properties tend to be overpriced and somewhat underwhelming in terms of quality.

In my opinion, it makes sense to use their service when you first move to a new city or for short-term stays like exchange semesters. However, staying longer than necessary can become quite expensive. I personally overstayed out of convenience and ended up paying significantly more than I should have.

Brilliant

I had a really enjoyable stay overall and would definitely consider returning. The location was perfect, with excellent access to public transport, making it easy to get around. I also really liked the range of on-site amenities and the convenience of being able to restock anything I needed myself, which made the stay feel very flexible and comfortable. The staff were consistently polite and friendly, which added to the positive experience.

One of the standout aspects was how quiet and peaceful it was during my three-day stay — I had no issues with noise at all, which made it very relaxing. The self check-in was a great bonus, and the simple lock system made entering the room quick and hassle-free without needing to deal with codes.

There were a couple of minor downsides. The bathroom could have been cleaner, with some mould around the shower and a sink that didn’t appear fully cleaned. However, it seemed more like the bathroom needed upgrading rather than it being the cleaners’ fault. There were also a few lights, such as from the fire alarm, that flashed during the night, which was a bit distracting.

Overall, the positives far outweighed the negatives, and it was a comfortable, convenient, and pleasant stay.

Avoid Joivy in Paris at all costs

The property was not as advertised: the bedroom had mold, the kitchen was in very poor condition, and there was even a hole in the wall with a plant growing out of it.

The worst part was the communication. I reported the issues, but replies were slow, often taking about a week, and rarely addressed the full problem. Because nothing was properly resolved, I moved out early.

After that, the problems continued. My deposit was returned 2 months late where initially I was wrongly charged an extra month of rent, and the only explanation I received was “IT issues.”

I also know several other tenants who are in ongoing disputes with Joivy.

My recommendation to Joivy: Stop taking new clients. These are real people, often students struggling with finances. Treat us with respect. Fix your accomodations, fix your IT issues, because whatever you are doing right now, does not work.

Fine thanks

Everything was fine, thanks. Some minor filling of cracks along walls might be an idea. Also, as far as I could tell, there was no extractor fan working in the bathroom. Also shower was difficult to use, instruction-wise. Otherwise good.

My stay at the Joivy apartment in Mayfair London

My stay at the Joivy apartment in Mayfair London was perfect. Check-in and check-out were seamless because Joivy provided all the information I needed in a timely manner. I was able to get into contact with Joivy over text and they responded immediately. The apartment was clean, confortable and most inportantly was as listed when I made the reservation. The apartment was in an amazing location, very central to shopping, restaurants, cafes and the underground (Tube). I look forward to returning to London and would love to stay at the Joivy managed property again.
