They guided us to the best sites and added “extras” like the food tour that added to a fun trip. I recommend Italy Trails without reservations.

We loved our experience working with Italy trails recently spent the month of April touring Italy, and it was a great way to travel. They worked with our preferences and the accommodations were always spotless and very well situated for everything we wanted to see. The app was very convenient with links to all the recommended places to visit, restaurants and with a link to directions on where to park was super helpful. We had the odd issue with cell connectivity when we were touring around, but didn’t result in any major problems. Overall very seamless experience, the team was super responsive if we did have a question and we would highly recommend working with Italy trails if you’re thinking about a self guided trip. Saved a ton of time organizing & their level of local knowledge was a huge asset.

Cristina was a pleasure to work with.  Very responsive as we went back and forth putting together our custom self-drive holiday in Sicily.  Everything went off without a hitch. 

Being an immensely experienced agent, Cristina understood the type of vacation we wanted to take in Tuscany and was able to lay out a perfect itinerary from the hotel to various experiences. Our itinerary was packed with tips, pleaces to visit, restaurant recommendations, etc, way more than we could experience during our visit. She was also immensely helpful and able to accommodate our request to extend the stay in Rome on a extremely short notice. The transportation arrangement Italy Trail was able to arrange from the Olimpico after the Roma match was hugely helpful to eliminate all the chaotic hustle that usually required after a football match anywhere in Europe, particularly from a huge venue such as the Olimpico in Rome.
I have studied in Italy and spent quite some time in the country. Yet, the itinerary created by Italy Trail was the kost satisfying. I would recommend Italy Trail to anyone who is looking to explore the wonderful country of Italy and to save time on creating a perfectly suited itinerary with an actual experienced human agent, not with AI.

Cristina's service from the beginning planning stages to the end of the trip were superb. The company certainly has the human touch element. Even when we hit a snag during our travels because of weather related issues it took only a few minutes for Cristina's team to change our hotel bookings in addition to making an unexpected dinner reservation for us. We couldn't reach one of our planned stayover spots because of excessive rain/flooding in the town. We headed to our next destination knowing Italy Trails had made all the necessary changes without hesitation. Also, the executive itinerary provided was invaluable as we would have had to do many, many hours of research to even come close to the points of interest they provided (along with links of exact driving directions via Google maps). Well worth Italy Trails services for a self-guided tour. Our main objective was to have "an authentic experience and stay clear of tourist areas". That is exactly what they provided. Not to mention the exquisite hotels they booked for us at each destination town!

Italy Trails customized our 19-day motorcycle trip from Milan to Rome in September 2025. The itinerary was designed based on our input and took us through some of the most beautiful regions of the country including Piedmont, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Umbria, Abruzzo, and the Amalfi Coast. The route design was perfect and the accommodation bookings were wonderful. From the pre-planning meeting through our "on-the-fly" change to extend our stay in Pompeii, Cristina was immeasurably supportive and sensitive to our needs. The provision of a phone that included the itinerary, recommended side jaunts and other experiences was a very helpful convenience. Italy Trails clearly takes passion in what they do. We will be back...there's so much more of this amazing country to explore.

The team at Italy Trails did an amazing job of planning and arranging our holiday. We were travelling with our very articulate, intelligent autistic grandson so we had some specific requirements. It was great to put a face to the name and meet Cristina face to face. The Android took us awhile to work out and using Whats app was also unfamiliar. We got there eventually. The accommodation in each area was perfect with a special mention to Tenuta La Santissima near Siena. Pierre was fantastic and so welcoming. The trains were challenging especially as there was a National Train Strike on the day of our first trip. It became additionally stressful when the train station staff refused to speak with travellers just telling people to "go away - no trains". The customer service booth was also unmanned and once we were on a train the attendant told us we did not have tickets for "that" train despite showing us our booking on her device. Our car hire experience was good - the location was not quite what we expected but it all worked. We had fantastic guides in each location. We especially want to acknowledge the guide from ebikes in Rome, Francesca in Florence and Rebecca in Venice. They all "got" our grandson and made our time together perfect. It was a very memorable trip for the 3 of us largely due to the work put in by the Italy Trails team - sincere thanks from us all - Jane, Rob and Leo.

Our experience with Italy Trails was fantastic! Because we were visiting family for a portion of the trip, we were not interested in going through a large tour group organization. Working with Cristina and her team to plan our self guided tour was perfect and provided the flexibility we needed. The accommodation choices were spot on based on our requirements. The two wine tasting locations that they scheduled were both unbelievable adventures! Franco was very responsive in resolving a situation we had when our private driver was not able to get us to the train station in Naples on time due to traffic. The use of their cell phone with everything loaded on it that you need to execute your day worked amazingly, even though we are not Android users. My only regret is that we may have tried to see too much territory which created a lot of driving. But that was our choice and next time we would adjust that. This high value trip was well worth the expense and we will definitely use Italy Trails again for our next trip to Europe.

Cristina helped us plan the final 9 days of a month long European adventure. After email exchanges and a Zoom meeting she developed a great understanding of our needs (we are a party of 4) and put together a perfect itinerary that included transfers, tours with local guides and perfect accommodations. Additionally, she and others were VERY responsive to questions along the way. Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cristina did a fantastic job compiling the itinerary for our recent 33-day/32-night self-guided tour of Italy. We enjoyed planning our holiday with her and appreciated her advice and recommendations. We also appreciated Christina's care in selecting and booking our accommodation, together with car hires, train and ferry tickets and walking tours. Her assistant Franco was just a phone call away and cheerfully assisted us when required, including late one night in Florence when we accidentally triggered our bathroom alarm after the hotel reception had closed. He contacted someone from the hotel to get the alarm switched off. Thank you, Franco! We would not have seen or experienced so much had we planned this trip ourselves. Everything went according to plan. It was money well spent. Highly recommended. Thank you Cristina and team for a wonderful holiday.

My cousin and I booked Italy Tours for an Ancestry Exploration. We worked with Cristina who coordinated the search through a couple ancestry researchers expert in reading old Italian archives. Cristina met us at the train station/airport and helped us get our rental car. After a brief explanation of things we were on our way to Isernia Italy to find out more of where our Great Grandfather was born and what might have lead him to immigrate to the US. The whole experience was well coordinated and wonderful! If you are interested in exploring your Italian heritage, Cristina and Italy Trails is the company to choose.

I stumbled across this company through research as we wanted to go to specific places and not have the hassle of driving on the wrong side of the road. Just spent 2 weeks in Sicily with my husband, booking through Cristina. For anyone who wishes to do an independent trip without going on a tour, Italy Trails are the people to go through. Accommodation was central, clean and a pleasure to come back to after a long day. Drivers were respectful, safe and followed road rules. GPS on a phone handed to us on arrival was extremely helpful and cut searching time down, so more time exploring. Suggestions on what to see, do and where to eat at your fingertips and all done through the given phone. Money so well spent on this trip. Cannot fault them in any way. Thank you Cristina. there was a lot of care taken in planning this trip - lots of pecial add-ons that made it even more wonderful than we had hoped for. The phone system is a brilliant idea and has everything in one place, your itinerary, directions, places to visit and places to eat, hotspotting
- you name it they've thought of it! While we had some issues with an upgrade to this system, the team were super helpful in sorting out what we needed anytime we called them.

Absolute perfection! They custom curated and organized everything during our complicated summer family trip to southern Italy & Rome. It was hard for us to plan because of the logistical challenges of travelling in the south, not wanting to drive and because of multiple cities involved. Cristina and team were thoughtful and professional and listened to what we wanted and gave us an unforgettable holiday. A lot of thoughtfulness and care in the planning. They took care of all the logistics making it stress free. All the hotels were amazing and centrally located. The day trips, transportation- drivers, transfers & stop over cities they picked were superb. The cell phone they provided with navigation, 24-7 contacts, and the itinerary is amazing. Always available to clarify, notify us of changes or help us communicate with the hotel owners or tour providers. Grateful to have found them. It was totally worth it & great customer service. We used Italy Trails for our extensive and long holiday in Italy this year. Cristina listened to our requirements and met the brief on the hotels. The local phone they provide was a great asset – being able to contact our accommodation in advance and experience providers was handy. The loaded information ie Itinerary, vouchers, helpful hints, suggested restaurants, information of places visited etc meant everything was at your fingertips. Being able to tether our phones to the Italy Trail phone was also helpful. The advantage of having a local agent was demonstrated when we needed to clarify matters with our accommodation and the hostess spoke no English. Cristina got on the phone call and was able to sort out quickly. She was also available by email to answer any of our queries.

After a wonderful trip to the Azores last year through Portugal Trails, we used Italy Trails to book a 9 day tour around Italy. We started with two days in Bologna then drove to Santa Marguerite for a 3 day tour of the coast including Porto Fino and the villages of Cinque Terre. Three fabulous days of site seeing along the coast were followed by a drive to Florence and a four day stay in the Martinelli Apartments which had amazing views of the Duomo from every room! In Florence we enjoyed a wonderful cooking class, a top notch tour of the city, Galleria del Academia di Firenze and a fun-filled bus tour of Tuscany with stops in several beautiful medieval villages, a delicious lunch and wine tasting.

 We had a fabulous time. Cristina from Italy Trails proposed an itinerary based on what we told her of our interests. We had private tours everywhere. She booked great hotels for us and wonderful experiences in Bologna, Tuscany and Florence. All of the guides were knowledgeable and fun to talk to - about art, architecture, ruins, and food, for example. 

No detail was unattended to. Transfers from airports, train stations, hotels, and the tourist sites were all right on time and very nice. The only change we would make for future trips to Italy would be to avoid renting a car. Driving in busy Italian cities with unreliable GPS signals is extremely challenging and stressful when you are not used to it.

Cristina and Franco responded expeditiously before and during the trip. They were professional and personable at the same time. Italy trails is the safety net anyone would need and want when traveling overseas. The minute we set foot in Venice we had the nicest guide meet us and help acclimate us to Italy. All of the tours were top notch. I will be using their service in the future.
