Only place we could find unoccupied home insurance and could do it online!

steer clear of Home protect AXA
my first claim in over 40 years of buying home insurance and not cheap over £500 smashed my laptop with the reclining chair even tried to get it fixed myself couldnt so made a claim
been told only had the basic cover how can it be basic over £500 it should be covered under items less than £1500 not itemised but they say not i will have to refer this to trading standards i think is is a absolute con
25/7/2026 reply i have filed the claim on line on the home protect claim form and called the claim office I closed the recliner onto it i even took it to a repair shop firstto pay for it my self could not fix it now because i didnt itemise its not covered even though items under £1500 are covered ?
over 40 years not a claim 1st claim not covered WOW!!
Home protect AXA came back asking for details even though I had completed all the claim online
I have not had any contact since the disgusting decision by this company

Home protect utter wasters
as you can see i had to chase them ref there request for information so they can help thats just a scam to get something on trust pilot they just repeated what was said earlier i had a basic policy for £500 !!!! it did not cover the laptop who has a desktop in 2021

1) Their website is down, I cannot access my documents which I need to send to the mortgage company.

It doesn't look great in 2026 when a company's IT is down during business hours.

UPDATE:
2) When I could eventually access my policy documents, they had failed to send me a letter confirming that I had renewed my policy at that time. This meant I was unable to prove buildings insurance was in place to my mortgage lender which meant a delay to that process required me to contact Homeprotect.

Thankfully Ayanda was very efficient and sorted out the problem quickly on the call and the letter was issued, but I should not have had to chase in the first place and waste my time on the phone with them.

Called to discuss the end of my insurance due to financial difficulty. The adviser was sympathetic and understanding and gave the best possible advice.

Renewed at premium acceptable to us consumers.

Automatically renewed my home insurance this time as no problem with this company previously.
Did do price check with other companies but they weren't offering any better benefits or provide extras like home protection.

I have had my building and content insurance with home protect for a few years.
I was disappointed to see that this year their renewal price was £70 HIGHER than me going through comparethemarket. So although I did renew at a much lower price I would recommend you checking first.

Very easy and clear to buy a policy that meets our needs.
