UPDATED REVIEW: After leaving a couple of negative online reviews and writing to headquarters, HG contacted us and finished installing the shutters and dispatched the reimbursement check on Sept. 19. These issues have been dragging on since June, so it's good to finally have closure. Thank you.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

We contracted HG NJ to install new siding, gutters, and roof on our house in Princeton and had the following issues:

1. The salesperson, Aneesh, gave false information, stating that there would be no interest and we could take as long as we wanted to pay off installments. We were shocked when we received a notice from Service Finance Company, stating that we were being charged 9% interest. We spoke to Becca, the supervisor assigned to us, about this and she promised to take care of the issue and cancel the loan, but never did, so we had to negotiate with SFC and pay them the full price plus a several hundred dollar fee even before we considered the HG job to be completed to our satisfaction.

2. All our lovely, real wood custom-color shutters were thrown out instead of being re-installed! Casey, our project manager, told us it was the fault of an administrator who had marked the box to discard shutters. HG did purchase new shutters for us (they were not real wood, and not our original color), but they have not finished installing them. We have been chasing after Becca and Casey for months now, but nothing is getting done.

3. A dump truck was left blocking our driveway for two weeks after the work on our home had been completed.

4. Hundreds of pounds of debris and supplies were left on our lawn for an additional five weeks after the crew had finished the job. Calls and e-mails to our PM and his supervisor went unanswered. We finally wrote to their supervisor, Morgan, and she was able to arrange a forklift to come the next day and pick up all the junk.

5. Our lawn was decimated in the areas where the junk was left. We were promised that the $562 bill we paid to the landscaper would be refunded by HG, but we never received a refund

6. A member of their construction crew contacted us recently and informed us that he had never been paid the $650 HG had promised him to install our shutters. He stated that HG was ignoring his messages. We can't verify if this is accurate or not, but it would be very troubling if HG were not properly compensating their crew.

Despite all of the aforementioned, we are actually very pleased with the work of their construction crew. (Five stars for construction crew, one star for everyone else.)

Angel Martinez the service technician came by my house to inspect my gutters and roof, and fixed my roof from overflowing into the gutter. I also had a concern about the level of the gutters and he assured me the gutters are functioning properly. And answered any questions I had!

They came in with the lowest bid, but their work was top notch. Everyone was friendly and polite. Easy people to work with. Wouldn’t have a second thought to use them again.

Home Genius Exteriors came to give me a quote on windows and siding. I was impressed with the amount of knowledge that the sales rep had in regards to the projects I was inquiring about. I was amazed at how quickly all of the projects were completed after the fact I had signed my contract. The cleanliness of all the crews involved was outstanding and meticulous and they left my home as if they never came by! The project manager Tony, who was in charge of my siding was very professional kept in close contact with me throughout the entire project and was very kind. As for Angel Martinez who was in charge of my window project he was kind, was able to answer any questions and concerns I had about the process, and even had the crew install a window film on my windows to add an opacity to my windows. I want to thank the entire Home Genius team for all of their hard work and outstanding organization. I highly would recommend them to anyone looking for home improvement.

I liked tys presentation and the project manager Dylan who stayed in communication throughout all projects. Everything went well as for as I can tell and would pass the word on to have work done by Home Genius to others.

My mother, an 80-year-old woman on a fixed income in Richmond, VA, was pressured by Home Genius Exteriors into an unnecessary $8,940 siding job to fix a chimney leak. The leak was later repaired with a simple roof patch in under an hour, but the company has refused to refund her money and has stopped responding. Further, the company has the audacity to claim the siding leak was necessary even after they were provided with documented text exchanges between my mother and the company where the company acknowledges unnecessary work was done. All of this documentation was sent to the customer support email and the CEO, but no one has responded outside of these forums. She feels taken advantage of and devastated by the loss. Please be careful before trusting this company.

they ordered supplies and billed to me and did not use them on the job and did not credit me for them i called asked to speak to the sales person never got a call back in contract 6 pc ply wood used only 3 2 pipe vents i have none and other boxes never opened like 4 bundles of shingles

From the time the salesman came which was Josue to the crew members with Carlos who is professional and punctual to Brett the Project manager this was a very good experience.

My husband and I are writers who stay pretty focused on our solitary work and do not live extravagantly. But when we need work done on our home we try to go with the best—companies that not only take pride in their product and performance, but in their employees. We hired House Genius Exteriors to put a much-needed new roof on our shore cottage in Villas, NJ. Our salesperson did a thorough workup of our roof’s condition and walked us through the HGE process for roofing, educating us on the materials and technology the company uses, its competitive price point, and its impressive warranty. The job was set up for five days later, and during that time the teams in the office and in the field checked in with us. Communication was easy, calls returned quickly. The roofing team arrived early and got right to it. The site manager was fantastic, making sure everyone had what they needed. It went like clockwork, and the new roof was up by the end of the day. It is so beautiful. I already foresee doing new siding with HGE. This company takes care of you.

We had our roof replaced, and gutters installed today by a GREAT crew! They were efficient, hard working guys that not only got the job done but after their clean up you would never know they were there today! Except for the beautiful work they did with our roof or course! Highly recommend!!

AJ Smith and his crew from Home Genius did a fantastic job on repairing and replacing the trim and soffit areas of my home. The crew was on time, polite, efficient and completed the job in just one day. The crew cleaned up the area when finished and it all looks great. AJ communicated with me about the work being done and did a final walk around inspection with me upon completion. I highly recommend Home Genius to my friends and neighbors.
