We had an issue with the selfie and Mr

Now we have to correct to 5 stars again. I had Mrs. Melisa on the phone from Zurich Headquater.. She was very, very kind. She told us what she is still missing. She sent me an email, we sent the missing part, and now the account is openend!

So, the 5 stars now belong to Mrs. Melisa from the department in Zurich. Thank you very much, Melissa.

You received a five-star recession. At first, I gave Mr. Max Winkler a 5-star rating because he was extremely helpful. We had an issue with the selfie verification, and he handled it professionally, was very customer-oriented, and resolved the problem within just one day. I was genuinely impressed and happy to see that Saxo has such diligent and capable customer support.

Unfortunately, my experience changed completely afterward. We contacted Mr. Winkler three times within one week, and despite our repeated messages, we never received a single reply. Even if there is no immediate solution, a short response such as, "We're still working on it, please be patient," would have been perfectly acceptable.

Ignoring customer inquiries is simply a no-go. It gives the impression that new customers are not important and that their concerns are not taken seriously. For that reason, I have changed my rating from 5 stars to 1 star.

This concerns Saxo Switzerland in Zurich. Good customer service is not only about solving the first problem—it is also about maintaining communication afterward. Unfortunately, that did not happen in this case.
By the way, I'm not sure that you're delighted about the answer you gave us. Maybe you should read it once again.

Hostile customer service, trapped funds, and blocked complaints. AVOID.

I requested a full cash transfer of my £23,600 Stocks and Shares ISA from Saxo to Interactive Investor weeks ago. Since then, it has been absolute radio silence. My cash is sitting completely idle, earning a pathetic, sub-market interest rate while being actively eaten away by Saxo’s platform custody fees.

When I finally called their UK customer service line today for a simple status update, the support agent chose to hang up the phone on me rather than handle the query. To make matters worse, Saxo has intentionally engineered their website's formal complaint form to be unusable—blocking submissions unless you provide a support ticket number and staff name, neither of which they will give you.

Holding a client's life savings hostage and cutting off communication channels is a clear breach of the FCA's Consumer Duty and Treating Customers Fairly guidelines. This company is a bureaucratic nightmare that actively blocks accountability. If you value your money and want to be treated like a human being, stay far away from Saxo.

Hi IXUS,

We’re very sorry to read your comments and to hear how stressful this experience has been for you.

We have now reviewed your case in detail. To clarify the situation:

- For ISA transfers out, the process must be initiated and driven by the receiving provider.
- We had not received any transfer request or communication from receiving provider, so we were not aware that a transfer had been instructed until you contacted us directly.
- We work with the receiving provider regularly and they have established contact routes for sending such requests. Our standard process is to act promptly once we receive a valid transfer instruction from the receiving provider.

Since speaking with you, we have been actively looking at ways to reach out to the receiving provider directly so that we can help get the transfer moving, even though the formal process requires them to contact us.

Regarding your experience with our customer service:

- We are currently reviewing the call recordings and internal logs to understand exactly what happened on the call where you felt the line was terminated prematurely, and whether our standards were met.
- We are also reviewing the online complaints form journey you mentioned. The intention is not to block complaints in any way – complaints can always be raised via phone, secure message, or email as well as via the form – and we will address any usability issues you have highlighted. We are also now handling your complaint formally and it will follow our standard complaints procedure.

We take our obligations under the FCA’s Consumer Duty and Treating Customers Fairly very seriously. Your feedback has been escalated internally so we can learn from this and improve both our processes and our communication.

Kind Regards

Wolf in sheep's clothing

I have had a SaxoTrader investment account with Saxo for a year and a half. At first, they were pleasant to deal with. Then came ‘Know Your Customer’ – corporate speak for ‘don’t deal with villains’ and a mantra for governments wanting to disassociate their financial sectors from bank robbers, cocaine dealers, tax evaders, crypto scammers, people smugglers and so on.

I am none of those things. I’m a 74-year-old tax-paying, retired employee living on a pension, but in Saxo’s world, you're guilty until you can prove yourself innocent. The problem is that I’m British yet married to a Thai so, wherever we live as a couple, one of us is going to be an ex-pat. It happens to be me and Saxo doesn’t like that. I don’t know if their issue is xenophobia or paranoia, or perhaps they have risk-assessed my adopted country and concluded it’s full of gangsters. Whatever the reason, Saxo is convinced I’m a fraudster of some sort.

In addition to the documents I presented when opening the account, I have now been required to hand over two more tranches of papers to prove where my modest ‘wealth’ comes from (answer: occupational and state pensions). Each time Saxo demands new documents, or sometimes the same documents again, they block my account for the multiple weeks it takes them to assess them. To me it’s like armed soldiers of an occupying force repeatedly demanding my ‘papers’. It is very unpleasant being treated like a criminal by fierce compliance nerds with limited social skills.

Saxo, you need to improve the way you deal with customers. We’re human! You may be under pressure to ‘Know Your Customer’, but you also need to ‘Respect Your Customer’, otherwise you will ‘Lose Your Customer’.

After the second block on my account, it became doubtful whether I had a future with Saxo, so I opened an account with Interactive Brokers as back-up. The process there was less painful than with Saxo. They didn’t demand batch after batch of papers. They seem to use AI more extensively than Saxo, but I’d much prefer a respectful IB droid to an aggressive Saxo human who thinks I’m a crook.

Then Saxo decided I was no longer allowed to invest money from my pension on their site because it comes from the UK via an international bank account. When some other customers complained about this new rule, the Saxo boffins changed their minds and said that they may allow me to invest my pension after all, but only if I send them a lot more documents, including those I’ve sent before and others that don’t exist because Saxo invented them. That was enough for me. In future, I will invest with IB and, if things don’t get better at Saxo HQ, I will withdraw my existing investments. I should stress that I’m not a shareholder in IB; other online brokers may be fine too.

If you live in Denmark, Saxo may be OK (I don’t know). If you live somewhere else and especially if you’re an expat, from my experience I would say: ‘Don’t allow Saxo’s scary demands get you down. There are other brokers out there who will treat you with respect.’

Update: Saxo has now told me that I am allowed to fund my account via an international account. So their 'Know Your Customer' principles are a lot more negotiable than their aggressive tone suggests. Lesson: if Saxo demands you supply ID and 'wealth' source documents, resist. Their main interest is profit; they will give in if you threaten to withdraw your funds.

Dear William,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m sorry for the frustration and disruption you’ve encountered.

We’re required by law to carry out ongoing “Know Your Customer” and anti–money laundering checks for all clients, irrespective of nationality or residency. This can involve asking for additional or updated information over time — especially when documents expire, funding patterns change, or regulations are updated. In some cases we must place temporary restrictions until we can complete the verification; this is to protect clients and ensure we meet our regulatory obligations.

We do not apply these controls on the basis of nationality or personal circumstances, and we’re sorry that our communication left a different impression. Our decisions are based on the information available to us and the applicable rules, and they may change as more information is provided and verified.

Funding from an international bank account may be acceptable, provided we can verify ownership and the transfer complies with local and international requirements. We recognise the need to be clearer about the specific documents required and the expected timelines, and we are improving our processes and communications to avoid confusion.

As we can’t discuss account-specific details in a public forum, should there be any unresolved concerns, please reach out to us: https://www.help.saxo/hc/en-sg/articles/360001255683-How-do-I-request-support

Once again, we appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to improve how we support you.

Saxo Singapore used to be ok.

Since we decided to transfer the shares and funds to another broker, the process has been very difficult.
We asked the bank to transfer our portfolio in early June, and at the time of this writing, i.e., July 20, 2026, one share is still missing.

We wrote to them on many occasions, but they always hide behind excuses.

Dear Emmanuel,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We recognise how important a smooth, timely portfolio transfer is to clients, and we are acting on your feedback to strengthen collaboration with external brokers to expedite the process. In general, securities transfers are manual and can be time-consuming because they rely on timely responses and coordination from external parties — including the receiving broker and, where relevant, registrars — and each step can proceed only once the required confirmations are received.

We can confirm that the securities transfer for the request in question is fully complete. Thank you for your patience during the process.

If there’s anything you’d like us to check or if you need any further assistance, please let us know — we’re here to help: https://www.help.saxo/hc/en-sg/articles/360001255683-How-do-I-request-support

Warning!

Warning!

Do not consider using this broker for currency trading. They manipulate bid and ask prices, resulting in price levels that differ from official market quotes.

I had two identical positions open simultaneously—one with Saxo Bank and one with TradeNation—using the same stop-loss level. The position at Saxo was closed approximately 50 pips above the stop-loss, while the official market ask price never reached the stop-loss level.

Based on this experience, I strongly question the accuracy and fairness of their pricing, and this raises serious concerns about how prices are quoted and executed on their platform.

So avoid this broker at any cost.

Regarding answer 23/7:

You are simply repeating yourself regarding how your orders are executed.

The core issue remains: I had two identical orders, yet you closed the position at a price that never occurred on any other market or platform.

I am still missing an answer as to why your quoted price differed from other market data sources. Furthermore, you failed to provide any independent, tick-by-tick data or liquidity-provider data to support the execution price, offering only the data from your own platform.

Dear Jesper,

As explained in our previous communication, your stop-loss order was triggered on the bid price and subsequently executed as a market order. For FX spot: Stop to buy is triggered by the Bid price. Stop to sell is triggered by the Ask price. Spreads in our FX crosses can vary with changing liquidity and volatility, which is why we have provided you with the historical spread data. We hope this clarifies the execution level you observed.

If you need any further explanation, please reply to our message on the platform, and we will be happy to assist.

A real nightmare having an account with Saxo Bank

I've had an account with Saxo Bank in Singapore for at least 12 years. My experience during this time has been entirely positive. Trading stocks is inexpensive and seamless. I'm not a trader, but rather a regular small investor with minimal portfolio activity for the past 45 years. However, in recent months, my positive experiences have turned into a nightmare. Saxo is demanding that I provide detailed information about the origin of my assets, otherwise my account will be blocked, which they have already done once, resulting in financial losses for me. Before becoming a Saxo client, my investments were held with several banks and asset managers in Europe and Singapore. When I sold securities, the proceeds were transferred to Saxo. Stocks were also transferred, depending on which was the most cost-effective option. So far, so good for many years. But now they are asking in detail about the origin of the transfers. "12 years ago, you made a security transfer of USD x,xxx,..." Saxo is requesting proof of where the money came from and how it grew to this amount over the years. How am I supposed to know that after so many years? "Please take a moment to update your information to ensure that you maintain uninterrupted access to your account." It's not about a moment, but rather 20-30 hours that I, an elderly, visually impaired man, have been desperately trying to comply with Saxo Bank's half-baked demands.

I acquired my wealth over 45 long working years through savings, inheritances, and above all, interest and capital gains. Saxo is now demanding precise information about the deceased, the will, etc. My father died more than 30 years ago, and I no longer have any documents related to him. I have since moved to another continent and destroyed this superfluous paperwork beforehand.

I must advise you against this bank, because the department that sends out these threatening letters probably doesn't even read my replies. Then comes their AI-generated response, a standard reply that refers you to their help articles. Besides this, there's a department that offers help with other problems, often staffed by friendly women. But there seems to be no communication between the departments. Perhaps they're even located in different countries. Overall, the service is very slow, answers rarely come sooner than a week, and it's not at all customer-focused. At 81 years old, I'm reluctant to switch to another bank. Never in the past 60 years have I been treated so poorly by a bank.

28.7.2026 Since I wrote this review 2 Weeks have passed. At least someone at Saxo read my review, and the service has improved significantly. Instead of AI-generated responses, a member of the service team contacted me. A few of the nonsensical demands have been dropped. Today, the video verification of my identity with my passport finally took place, along with holding a bank statement next to my head. Technically, it was a bit complicated with Microsoft technology. Not as easy as with WhatsApp. All's well that ends well, I thought, after this process had been dragging on for a few weeks. So I was all the more shocked when, on the same day, I received another threatening email from an obviously different department (or their AI), stating that they would close my account if I didn't submit documents, including my father's will, who died more than 30 years ago. My father's inheritance is insignificant compared to my current wealth, which has grown primarily through compound interest.

This whole affair demonstrates that communication between departments at Saxo isn't working. Perhaps there's too much AI and not enough people?

Panic call to problem solved

I made a panic call to the customer support at Saxo. Pranav made sure that I clamed down first. I explained the issue and he explained me what they would do and what should I expect in the coming moments and also days.Assurance from his side made me feel confident that the problem would get solved. The instructions on my next steps were also clear and I did receive prompt responses from him. In the world of chat bots and almost no human interaction, I really thank him and the entire team for being patient to understand the problem, providing empathy when needed, being human despite being absolutely professional.

Highly recommended trading platform

The Saxo trading platform is suitable for both investors and traders. It offers a broad range of instruments spanning multiple asset classes and currencies. With a clear layout, it is reliable and easy to trade and includes detailed information and research on the markets. Their customer service is particularly responsive and helpful and is backed up by supportive relationship managers. Low execution costs generally are allied with extra benefits based on a client tier system. I have been with Saxo for many years and highly recommend them.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for such a thoughtful and detailed review. It means a lot to hear this from someone who has been with Saxo for many years. Knowing that you find the platform reliable across asset classes, appreciate the research and layout, and feel well supported by both our customer service and relationship managers is exactly the kind of long‑term experience we aim to deliver. Your recommendation really counts.

Since you’ve had a positive journey with us over the years, if you have friends, family or colleagues who might benefit from using Saxo, you’re very welcome to refer them. You can do this directly from the platform (My Profile → Refer a Friend) and, if they open and fund the account, you’ll both be eligible for referral benefits of GBP 500 each as Commission Credits, according to the current campaign in your region.

Thank you again for the lovely feedback!

Best regards

Account restricted despite unreasonable compliance deadline

UPDATED 15 JUL 2026

*After giving me an impossible deadline to submit documents and then restricting my account, today I learned that it's going to take significant time to get the compliance team to actually look at the documents they asked for.

I am grateful for my account manager but shocked at how Saxo's compliance team manage accounts and resources.
I have a brokerage account with Saxo and recently received a request for additional compliance documents. Saxo gave me only three days to respond, despite the fact that the documents they requested take at least five working days to obtain.

I explained this and was told that my account would not be restricted because I had not been given adequate time to provide the documents. I also spoke with my account representative, who assured me that this would not happen.

Despite those assurances, Saxo went ahead and restricted my account anyway.

This is extremely frustrating and concerning. I have no issue providing compliance information, but clients need to be given a realistic timeframe, especially when the requested documents depend on third parties and cannot physically be produced within Saxo’s deadline.

I am asking Saxo to resolve this immediately, remove the restriction, and process my documents as quickly as possible once submitted. This could have been handled reasonably, but instead I was given an unrealistic deadline and then penalised for something outside my control.

Dear Phil,

Thank you for updating your review. We understand your frustration and appreciate you sharing your experience.

We regret that the handling of your compliance review did not meet your expectations. While regulatory requirements sometimes require us to request additional documentation, we recognize the importance of providing clear communication, realistic timelines, and consistent information throughout the process.

We are sorry to hear that the account restriction was applied despite the discussions you had regarding the time needed to obtain the requested documents. We understand how concerning this can be, particularly when the requested information depends on third parties and cannot be obtained within a short timeframe.

Your case has been raised with the relevant team for review, and we are working to ensure it receives the appropriate attention.

Thank you for recognizing the efforts of your account manager. Your feedback regarding the overall process and communication has been shared with the relevant teams as part of our ongoing efforts to improve the client experience.

Kind regards,
