Paid in full, still charged at pickup
I booked a car through HolaCar and paid USD 523 in full in advance.
Both the HolaCar app and the booking confirmation clearly stated:
“Amount to be paid at destination: USD 0”, including taxes.
However, when I picked up the car at Enterprise – Burbank Airport, I was charged mandatory airport taxes at the counter, in direct contradiction to what was stated by HolaCar during the booking process.
To understand what actually happened, I contacted Enterprise directly, in order to verify:
• which amounts were effectively collected by them;
• whether the airport taxes were already paid or not.
From these checks, a clear discrepancy emerged between what HolaCar indicated as “already paid / USD 0 at pickup” and what actually appears in Enterprise’s system.
I have screenshots and complete documentation showing in detail all charges and payments made.
At the time of booking, I also had an active protection against hidden costs sold directly by HolaCar, which should cover undisclosed mandatory fees, including airport taxes.
For this reason, I contacted HolaCar multiple times, providing a detailed explanation of the issue and attaching all supporting documentation, requesting clarification and a refund.
I wrote to the following official HolaCar email addresses:
• supportholacarrentals.com
• soporteholacarrentals.com
• infoholacar.eu
These contacts were found online and also indicated by HolaCar’s automated WhatsApp customer service.
As of today, after more than ten days, I have received no response at all.
In summary:
• HolaCar stated “USD 0 at pickup”, yet I was charged airport taxes;
• there are verifiable discrepancies between what was declared and what was actually charged;
• the advertised protection against hidden costs was not handled;
• HolaCar’s customer support is completely unresponsive after payment.
An extremely negative experience in terms of pricing transparency and customer support.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend HolaCar.
