Bad service, no help

I hired someone to come over and clean my place for two hours.
He did a horrendous job, even after I pointed things out. He did not communicate well, said the hover didn't work well, but never talked to me to help fix it.
I am beyond disatisfied and helping doesn't really help with the issue.

Lamie did very good job

Lamie arrived late as he couldn't find our address, BUT he worked solidly for 4,5 hours non-stop and did a tremendous job. Will certainly recommend him and use him again and continuously.

Outstanding Cleaning Service!

I had an excellent experience with the cleaning service. The cleaner was punctual, thorough, and very professional. My apartment was left spotless, and the attention to detail was impressive. I highly recommend this service to anyone looking for reliable and high-quality cleaning.

Last 4 helpling cleaners I have booked…

Last 4 helpling cleaners I have booked have all been a disaster. First one bleached my kitchen walls with bathroom cleaner (without asking) and spilled it all over the floor causing discoloring. 2nd one used bathroom cleaner (antikalk stuff) to clean my wooden furniture. 3rd one was just extremely slow. Most recent one used so much soap for mopping that the floor is sticky. Completely pointless for me to continue to endure this. If you stand over them and babysit them throughout the process it might be successful, but literally no reason to pay for that. They also always seem to not arrive on time and do the absolute bare minimum. Switching to another service where the cleaners have some experience.

Helpling 50% off is a scam - avoid this company - Edited

I wrote a review of the service I received from Helpling (Terrible - avoid) on the 5th August about my terrible experience with this company on the 28/07/2024. I was promised by one of their customer service representatives by phone that I would get my 50% discount on the 29th July. This is what they replied:

Dear Grainne, we are very sorry that you did not have a good experience with the cleaner you booked. As we have already informed you, the 50% voucher has of course been applied and you only have to pay half for the appointment. The appointment has also been adjusted to 2:15 hours instead of 2.5 hours. We also contacted the cleaner for you several times and told him about your complaints. The fact that he was not willing to adjust the payment is certainly annoying for you - we can understand that very well. However, as an independent cleaner and biller, it is his decision. We are very sorry that you were not satisfied with our service. Should you wish to use Helpling again, please contact us and we will see if we can find a solution together. Best regards, your Helpling team.

They've given very similar responses to other people, saying they're effectively just a database for cleaners etc. This is not the impression you get when you book with them at all. Their cleaner 'accidentally' changed my 50% discount on their website - I now believe this was deliberate on their part so that I would have to pay the full amount. The company washing its hands of this is just extremely dodgy.

Edit: The cleaner in question goes by a moniker, which I have removed. It may be that they were sent out on a job in place of someone else - I don't believe that this is their real name at all, as they were asking me questions about the site, even though it said on their profile they'd done 11 cleans. I would not be surprised if it was an umbrella name for several different cleaners - as mentioned in the previous review, he was very keen to get someone else in to help him off the books.

If Helpling decides to reply to this with yet another stock reply, claiming no responsibility when I was guaranteed I would be refunded 32,50, I will keep posting replies like this and bringing their average Trustpilot rating down. I want the money that is owed me, period.

Edit: Having checked with my bank, they initially took approx £88 GBP in three different amounts - with the conversion rate, likely about 3 times as much as the original agreed amount. On the basis of the Trustpilot reviews, they reached out to me to say there had been a 'misunderstanding' and that the cleaner told them he was only a little bit late (he was late by an hour) and encouraged me to change my review. They also asked me to look at my invoices - there were 27 of them for ONE cleaning.

They then subsequently refunded me the approx £88 in 6 different amounts.

I'm leaving this as a 1-star review solely because the cleaning that was done (about three quarters of what was needed) was good and they did refund 100% of te money. For the subsequent faff afterwards, the gaslighting in terms of their customer service, and the fact that I gave them a good 5 working days to apologise and respond to me, which they didn't do till after this SECOND review on Trustpilot- that means this rating stays at 1-star. The most charitable thing I can say is that this was perhaps incompetence rather than fraudulent, but either way, it's a very frustrating experience as their customer.

Even if you don't wish to read this again, Helpling is an online marketplace and all providers work as self-employed entrepreneurs with an own business licence. Therefore we consider both parties involved in a booking (providers and their customers) to be equal users of our platform.

Regarding your voucher issue we believe that your complaint is a strong misunderstanding. Vouchers are offered for marketing reasons by our platform and not by the cleaners. For this reason vouchers have nothing to do with the provider or the providers payout. After you have called our support team, we in fact re-applied your missing voucher and refunded the overpaid amount of €32,50 immediately. Please kindly check your transactions and your Helpling invoices!

Not worth it

The App takes A LOT of commision every time just for giving you the plattform, not worth it at all.

However, as you certainly know, in addition to the actual use of the platform, you receive many other services for your money: You have easy access to a very large pool of potential customers, you are covered by liability insurance, you save yourself the paperwork involved in invoicing and you can contact your own support team if you have any questions or need support.
Last but not least, you can use various criteria, such as the duration of the requested cleaning, the distance to the appointment or even the price, to decide whether the payout is appropriate for you and the order meets your requirements/expectations. Best regards!
