Since 1989, we have been providing compassionate, person-centred care at home to individuals across the UK. Our journey started in a small house in Warwickshire, and today, we have over 150 branches across the country. This growth has allowed us to extend our exceptional care and make a bigger difference while allowing our customers to remain in the place they love. Our carers are kind and compassionate individuals who always go the extra mile. They are fully trained to provide the highest level of care, no matter what condition you are living with. We are also recognised for delivering specialist dementia care, a service we have enhanced through our partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society. This has allowed us to provide our carers with dementia training to help support our customers living with different types of dementia. Our service is fully regulated and monitored by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales. We are proud to have received an overall rating of GOOD, and the CIW reported that our carers go “above and beyond, doing things that are ‘not on the list’.

Anxiety and Depression

Because I suffer with anxiety and Depression, I have difficulty managing even small changes to routine and I need the same people to visit because dealing with different people no matter how nice causes considerable distress that can last for days.
I would never be so rude as to mention this to people yo send to cover because it isn't their fault they don't draw up the roster.

In the first instance I contacted…

In the first instance I contacted Helping Hands to help me work out support for my elderly mother. Not only did Tammy take the time with me (probably over explaining) but followed up right away with an appointment for one of the team to speak with my mother and me together. Great service, kind caring and most importantly, responsive. Thank you Tammy and Team. It takes everyone to deliver and that is not always easy.

Prompt and comprehensive response

An immediate call back following initial request for call back. Lots of information readily available during telephone call. Courtney was empathic and reassuring in what I believed to be a complex situation. After a discussion about the care needs required a booking was made for 2 days time for the local branch manager to come for a home visit to assess and confirm package of care. A follow up email with terms and conditions and information brochure was sent. Plenty of reminders of the scheduled home visit. Very impressed so far.

Uncaring Hands !!!!!!!!!

Arranging a visit to introduce Helping Hands service to my 96 year old Mother. The initial over thr phone assessment by myself i said my Mother could retain info and partially sighted but not blind. On the day of the visit i was running late and advised. By the time i got there the contracts were signed and visits arranged for a companion. My Mother in the end had around 5 visits some cancelled ones due to illness still have to pay for, petrol not included and double time weekends Mum cancelled a day over a month so then was charged for about 14 visits In all for which she didnt want any over 2 months around 5 visits it was £800+. So i complained due to mums upset at her age. Although can retain informqtion, short term memory not good . But didnt think phone call info was written in stone as only asking for companion. I was to be there to help with translation, mums hearing very poor, cannot read print and understanding slow. She knew in advance who was coming and why so she was aware. Once they had left Mum asked again what was happening. So on complainung abiut misconduct and coercive behaviour to sign contracts, they said she understood fully and could sign papers
How in 45 mins did my Mum get a verbal contract read and could sign without being shown to the box too sign is beyond belief!!!!. Also i had other companies coming who i to cancel. They took away my mothers right to choose as she has no way of arranging visits or aternative companies using sources as i do internet, advertisments or word of mouth. To me thats as reckless as a cold call by a doorstep salesman with a vunerable. I are on my second esculating complaint, which should never have had to get to second stage complaint!!!. It is just disgusting behaviour, when they say they are caring of the elderly. That visit should have been rearranged or cancelled i arranged and i was to be there for a reason i ensuree my Mother is being taken care of at 96. My Mother loves company and will talk happily for hours to anyone who will share time with her. So i want evidence of the conversation like they did with my phone call, as how this actual conversation went. As of course their colleague will say it went well what would they say, " yes she couldbt hear very well or read but she got the gist and i got her to sign before daughter got there, so yes sorry i acted negligently". Like hell she would she would lose her job!!!. So be aware of this company with the vunerable ensure they have a dependent with them and be careful how you word your assessment dont say anything that could be misconstrude using phone or in person !!!!

I cannot fault the carers that came to…

I cannot fault the carers that came to look after my Mom but to be charged when my Mom was in hospital as if they were still coming to look after her in her own home, is not on. To be charged a 14 day notice period when my Mom had passed away, is to be honest despicable. They automatically took the money out of my Dads bank account for the notice period, while Mom was deceased. My 90 year old Dad has disputed their actions to be ‘told’ there’s nothing they can do, it’s in their Terms & Conditions. I’m sorry we didn’t read these in triplicate but we were loosing my Mom and our energies were with her. You could’ve done something as a good will gesture, now you’ve left a 90 year old man, not only grieving for his wife but stressed and worried over your actions. Be careful if you recruit Helping Hands they are not a fair, compassionate company.

Helping hands is all about you and your care needs nothing else. Totally patient focused which includes family …

This is my second time of using helping hands. The first time they were fantastic- delivering care to MY needs. So when I needed help again - of course I’d go helping hands. They haven’t disappointed this time either. Carers are kind, compassionate and really aim to give care to your needs. No task is too much. They even make my protein shake using the nutri- bullet processor. I feel safe when they are caring for me. They all go the extra mile. Everything about your care from the office down to hands on care is about you and what you need. Wonderful experience too second time round!!
Couldn’t recommend more highly.

Good communication

Great meeting with Clare from Taunton to thoroughly find out what was needed for Mum's care. Good communication, messages that need to be shared from or to the carers are promptly taken care of, and the ability to change the rota, if necessary, at a week's notice without charge. It's so good to know that Mum is taken care of and has carers popping in regularly to meet her needs.

The cares are always friendly and…

The cares are always friendly and supportive.
There is some flexibility in appointments but if the situation changes the client has to bear a considerable cost through no fault of their own.
I understand the business reason for this but it doesn’t sit comfortably with a caring organisation.

I find the support I get fits my needs and is open to change as my situation changes.
