From calling them to getting the heating back on was straight forward and hassle free + on the same day, on a very chilly day during the Xmas break.
Okay not the cheapest (not the most expensive either), but got the job done and will use again with no hesitation.

Be very careful with this company. I asked for a boiler servicing which cost me just over 300 pounds. Ryan carried out the service in under half hour, didn't do any manual work to the boiler aside from looking. I was surprised but not being an electrician/plumber I wasn't sure what to expect. He didn't give me any service certificate to state what checks or work he'd carried out. All I got was the invoice with a short description of the work which reads 'carried out service on cylinder, all ok'. Things have gone wrong now and got an electrician behind recommendation who explained I didn't get what I paid for.

Handy Experts were the third company I had out to resolve an ongoing problem with my radiator. Where the other two companies failed, Handy Experts were able to identify a problem with the valve. Problem resolved and a cost home once more! More importantly, Darren presented the right balance of professionalism balanced with a calming friendly persona. A great job and a very happy customer.

I needed an EICR certificate for my house as I was planning on renting it out. After shopping around, Handy Experts had one of the better rates, around £200 plus VAT, so naturally I went with them. The guy turned up, spent about an hour working, scribbling stuff down, and left. Not knowing any better, I simply sat back and waited.
A couple of days later, the certificate came back and found a few faults requiring urgent remedial work. Fair enough. So how much would that remedial work cost?
The answer, as it turned out, was £750. Plus VAT.
Okay, I thought. Well, if that’s what it cost, then that’s what it cost. The problem was, I couldn’t afford such a huge sum off the bat. And there was something I didn’t quite like about that price. It felt wrong. So I decided - as it turned out, very wisely - to get a few other quotes. I found a NAPIT-registered electrician nearby and asked him.
His quote? £200 plus VAT. And when he turned up, he was finished in less than an hour, including the time he took driving to the shop to buy some new fittings when I decided to ask for a couple of new things that weren’t on the brief.
Now, at this point, you might be asking yourself a fundamental question: Why might a company charge more than 4 times as much for the same job?
A charitable person would say that Electrical Inspections are their money-maker, that remedials are not, and they automatically apply a day rate to make it worth their while and cover their overheads.
A more cynical person, on the other hand, would suggest something more predatory is at play - that each inspector is sent to multiple EICR inspections in a day, at the request of customers who are in a hurry and will consider their fee to be a reasonable sum. Then, whenever they find faults, they quote an extortionate, vastly inflated sum, hoping that the landlord will be in too much of a hurry and/or too lazy to double check, and just pay.
Who’s to say which of those is true? I suppose it depends on your perspective. But I will leave you with one little bonus piece of guidance to help you make your mind up:
According to the NAPIT-registered electrician I found, a proper EICR inspection (or at least the ones he does) for a property of my size should take half a day and cost £300 or so, with urgent remedial work completed on the spot. An hour is nowhere near long enough.

Have had the most utterly appalling experience with Handy Experts. After using them for years we booked them in to instal our new electric oven and cap the gas on the old one. The gas fitter was very late, no notifications, and basically spent 10 mins on the house when we’d pad for an hour. But he did eventually turn up and do what he was asked to do so no big deal. The electrician spent all day installing the new cables, and installing the oven. But when left it didn’t work. We called him and he was dismissive and certified his work as up to to code. He wouldn’t come back. Our oven didn’t work. I spent a stressful day on to the retailer and manufacturers who all said it wasn’t installed correctly and would have to charge me to resolve. Eventually Handy Experts sent another electrician who discovered the wires had come loose when the I’ve was pushed into place. So had been insufficiently wired in and that feels dangerous. Then Handy Experts refuse to acknowledge the issue. Despite the second electrician having told me verbally and in writing that it wasn’t wired correctly. Despite repeated contact with the company they are refusing to own the issue and are now threatening to take me to court. They offered £100 off as a good will gesture off a £700 bill. They have totally dismissed my safety concerns. If I could afford to I’d get legal advice. Utterly disgusting. Will never use again.
