Would not use again.

Would not use again.

Called 0800HomeFix for a leaking bathroom sink. I was initially charged £120 and understood this to be the fixed price for the work. Once the engineer arrived, the price increased to over £260 for what turned out to be a relatively straightforward bottle trap replacement completed within around an hour.

The sink was fixed successfully, so no complaints about the engineer himself, but the pricing and communication left a very poor impression. The replacement part itself is inexpensive and readily available, so the final bill felt massively disproportionate to the work carried out.

When I queried the charge afterwards, I received long generic explanations about “fixed-price contracts” and “project management” rather than a clear explanation of why such a minor plumbing job ended up costing so much.

Overall, the experience left me feeling misled on pricing and I certainly wouldn’t use the service again. And would advise others not to

absolute rip off

absolute rip off, took 2 months to fix a dripping tap, came twice without the right parts, really expensive and terrible service, will never use them again.

Charlie was phenomenal

Charlie was phenomenal. His assessed my bathroom tap situation really quickly. Since it needed to be replaced, he popped out to get the parts in a very speedy trip and then carried out the necessary work to a very high standard. I’m very pleased with the results!!

Friendly, polite and efficient

I had 2 visits altogether on successive days, and both men who came were friendly, polite and efficient. The main problem was fixed on the second visit - not cheap, but all the equipment was brought to find the solution, which was effected swiftly

Clean and tidy work with no dramas to worry about after. We have peace of mind and would highly recommend to others!

Drain issue

We had an issue with the drain as the water in the bathtub wasn't going down. Initially, the first person who came to look at it only spent 10 mins and then told us he couldn't do it, yet we were still charged for a hour emergency call out. Luckily, Shaun was called out and he did a wonderful job. He was quick and to the point. He made sure he got to the root cause. Thank you so much Shaun for all your help.

Very frustrating experience - avoid

We had a very frustrating experience with 0800 Homefix and would strongly advise others to be cautious.

Before booking, we were told that in most cases issues like ours can be resolved during the first visit, and the £120 fee would typically cover everything needed. Based on this, we went ahead.

In reality, the engineer stayed for only a few minutes, did not attempt any meaningful repair, and quickly suggested further works at £582 + VAT.

This was particularly disappointing because we had already provided photos and a clear description of the issue in advance. Other engineers were able to give quotes remotely based on what we provided, and we ultimately resolved the same problem for £230 in total during one visit.

The impression given upfront is that the initial visit is likely to resolve the issue, but in our case it felt more like a very brief inspection leading straight to a significantly higher quote.

Overall, the service did not reflect what was communicated beforehand, and the initial fee £120 which we paid did not feel justified given the limited time and work carried out.

What made the experience worse was the follow-up correspondence. Very unprofessional long, generic emails.

Misleading and taking advantage of clients

I have used twice this service. The first visit by a gas engineer was brilliant. The second time I used a plumber and it was a scam. The plumber- James, took advantage of my trust and he advised me that I should pay him £350 flat rate for the whole day rather than the hourly rate that the website of the company displays, explaining that would have been more cost effective for me due to the complexities of work that could have allegedly taken many hours. The story of excuses for the flat rate changed a few times when he was confronted at a later stage. I had also pre paid him the part required, which although I asked for the information of it, he didn’t share and he ordered the part to his own address rather than mine. On the day of the visit he came and he completed the work in an hour. When I confronted him about misleading me and trapping me to the price he suggested as he was in control of the missing part he blankly told me this is how the work is done.
I very transparently complained to the company and asked for a refund for the hours I was misled to pay that the plumber hadn’t worked for. In the company’s response they acknowledged according the fact that according to their records the plumber didn’t stay at the address for length of time to justify the flat rate, however they found no faults and didn’t uphold the complaint.

This company is not registered with an ombudsman scheme and I am currently take my matters further with the citizens advice.

If you use this company I would say the work delivered is decent however, this doesn’t justify how misleading and manipulative they are to get your money.

Please be very careful with the staff absolutely misleading you and taking advantage of the fact that we are not experts. All in all I wouldn’t recommend them and action against them should be taken.
