Buyer beware

You may like it at first but never fear, the fan system will only last about 3 years. I bought 2 of them and both fan systems are bad plus the key fob on one of them won't work either. Called them up to troubleshoot and their suggestion is I need to buy new fan modules and a new key fob unit. Only used them about 8 times total. Complete garbage.

Horrendous customer support

Horrendous customer support. Got the cover recommended for my car and it just puffs up too much and flies off the hood section. they want to charge a 50% restocking fee AND MAKE ME PAY FOR SHIPPING.

Avoid like the plague.

We had the hail protector cover for a year and no issues. Within a month of the warranty expiring, 3 of the fans stopped working. Been going back and forth for a while and no resolve. Nothing has happened to it, it's in perfect shape, been kept in a box sealed away when not in use and dried out after each use. Tried again tonight and now all 4 fans are just dead. For over $500, this is total crap.

This is the biggest piece of junk I ever wasted money on. They say in 30-mile-an-hour wind, it barely moves. It blows up like a hot air balloon. This thing is junk. Don’t waste your money. I am sorry I did garbage.

Worst product ever

Worst product ever! First time I went to use it the blowers wouldn’t power up and I had to cover our truck with a bunch of moving blankets that I borrowed from my neighbor. So much for inflatable hail protection! The rain covers for the blowers are supposed to have friction tape on them to help keep them in place according to the instructions but there is no tape and the covers simply vibrate off. The large velcro strips to close the cover so it will inflate have the stitching pulling out and the Velcro strip is separating from the enclosure. Poor workmanship and is definitely not worth the money! Living in Oklahoma we get some pretty severe storms and large hail and I would be better off using multi-layered moving blankets for hail protection.

Extremely disappointing experience from day one

The product was defective and ended up damaging my car. Now it’s under recall due to a fire hazard, and I can’t even use it. Customer service is painfully slow to respond and, from the very beginning, they’ve refused to repair the manufacturing defects or offer a refund. I’m not sure if this company was ever reputable, but it certainly isn’t anymore. Save your money.

I purchased two of their Hail Protector…CRAPPY Product

I purchased two of their Hail Protector systems and have had nothing but problems from them since purchase in March 2025. I live in the DFW area and we are always under a threat of hail in Spring Storms. Thought wow, what a great concept. A great concept with extremely POOR EXECUTION.

Tonight, 6/8/25, with a massive storm system rolling through DFW area, I've had one set of motors give out AGAIN, and the bag deflated. This is a BRAND New motor set and it couldn't even make it through it's first use. Have one protected car and one unprotected now.

Several major issues with these systems and the company fails to intervein and fix their product.

First, the motor/blower pack. Pretty much the heart of the system. I have had 4 motor packs fail in the 3 months I have owned and tried to use them. Sub par quality and cheap wiring on the motor pack. Constantly blowing the fuse to each individual motor. Replacing the fuses only to determine the motor is locked up. Now there is a RECALL on the motors that I filed a claim on 05/27/25, and have yet to hear anything from the company on steps forward. We have a massive storm system in DFW metroplex tonight and now one of the motor packs has failed yet again....if we get hail, they will see a lawsuit...

The second issue is poor power cables. Who ever they are using as a supplier for their power cables needs to be fired. The plug ends separate from the main power cables and expose the inner wires. The rubber/plastic covering of the cables is too brittle and cracks at the receptacle ends. I have had to remove power receptacle ends and replace them with more robust end connectors I purchased from Amazon. I shouldn't have to do this with a quality product. Buying their replacement cables, I've done this twice, and I get the same crappy cables.

Third, I have had the under car straps on one of the systems tear out of the inflatable cover, leaving only one strap to secure. I did have the company replace that cover, but I continue to worry that in high winds, this cover strap will also tear out from the inflatable liner.

I have exhausted more time and effort on these systems than any consumer should have too.

DO Not, I repeat DO Not buy this product. You will eventually regret the decision if you do purchase. It typically takes a lot to piss me off, but over the last three months this product has worked my last nerve. Tonight's failure of one system was the last straw.

Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for a product.

I’ve had nothing but issues with this company. I recommend reading other reviews before making a purchase. I bought their product for the first time, and by the second use, the fabric tore and the cover came off—causing damage to my truck. Instead of protecting my vehicle, it ended up damaging it.

To make matters worse, the company required a $165 fee just to replace what was clearly a defective product. When the replacement finally arrived, the blower didn’t work.

I’m not sure if this company was ever reputable, but based on my experience, it certainly doesn’t seem to be anymore.

Hail Protector Junk

Purchased Hail Protector 5/7/24, pulled out for 1st time use in 3/4/25 thing ripped apart by storm and gone. Only parts of the cover where in the grass and bushes. Contacted support for warranty replacement claim, was asked what happed informed of storm right away was told I used the product wrong and denied claim but we'll sell you a used one for $160.00. Product does not deliver what they rave it can withstand and do and like that $519 went bye bye. Don't waist your money with this hot air balloon, worthless.

IS NOT AS TOUGH AS ADVERTISED AND WILL TEAR.

I bought the SUV3 in March 2023 anticipating Spring storms as I live high up on a mountain where we get high winds and hail in Western NC. Order #77701. A terrific storm came in with winds near 100mph and the debris blowing around was mostly tree limbs, several of which punctured the cover. It was installed as they described, however the pressure from wind tore out the drawstring in several places and sharp debris caused irreparable damage so that the big tears in the fabric meant it could not stay inflated. Their ads are deceptive and the fabric is not strong to repel sharp objects in high winds. I strongly felt I was deceived and requested a full return and refund which they flatly refused as I had contacted them a few days past the 21 day return period. They did not allow any grace for that 21 day return period so I spent 500 dollars for a one time use item so I feel very foolish and cheated by this company. They now want ME TO INVEST MORE OF MY MONEY TO PAY TO SHIP THE DAMAGED ENEVELOP BACK TO THEM FOR THEIR INSPECTION. I AM DONE WITH HAIL PROTECTOR. TOO MUCH MONEY FOR A ONE TIME USE ITEM AND THEY DO NOT LISTEN TO THEIR CUSTOMER. LET THE BUYER BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND THE FABRIC IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO STAND UP TO HIGH SPEED SHARP DEBRIS DRIVEN BY HIGH WINDS. IT WAS RIPPED TO PIECES AND CORD WAS TORN OUT OF EDGE OF THE COVER IN SEVERAL PLACES BY THE HIGH PRESSURE FROM THE WINDS.

I bought their largest cover for my pickup after I talked to someone at Hail Protector. I had surgery and couldn’t test it out before the window to return it was up. The cover they sold me was way too big and would not stay on my truck no matter how much I tightened it. So I’m stuck with a $600 useless cover. Be very sure what cover you need and don’t take their word for it. Test it out as soon as you get it.

Better than "Best" I'm an multiple…

Better than "Best" I'm an multiple engineer and know a lot about materials.
HailProtector is a very high quality, car cover and inflatable car protector.
HailProtector has an inner material that touches my car, it’s soft. The outside material is UV, rail… protection like any other high-quality car cover. 3 power sources can be used and with a remote control. DC power pack or your cars power and AC power. HailProtector uses lots of built in elastic ribs and dual under-car straps, to keep the cover tight to the car. So, wind does not blow it off. Getting the under-car straps, from one side to the other IS EASY! LOL and brilliant. HailProtector gives you a retractable tape measure to extend under the car to the other side! lock the tape measure, walk to the other side, attach the two under-car straps to the end of the tape measure with the rubber band holder, walk back to the other side and just retract the tape measure. Surprise, you now have the two under-car straps in your hands. Wow, you didn’t have to get on the ground to reach for them. More about HailProtector below. But first…
“Car Capsule” is a clearly the best for: in the garage, with constant inflation. And it’s clear, so your beauty can be admired. It’s very well built, great electronics… last for years. (I have had mine for 15+ years) Down Side: you must drag the clear plastic cover over the car, bend down to zip it closed at ground level, all the way around 3 sides of your car. They do make an outside model that is the same style. Most of the same positive and negative of use. Its not clear to see inside, UV rated to protect your beauty from sun Damage. Great inflated protection. I would not want the plastic cover to touch my paint for very long in the hot sun deflated. And what if you have a power outage due to a bad storm?
HailProtector: The Engineer who developed the HailProtector is a genius in this market. His "YouTube" videos of how to place a few parts to the HailProtector are slow, but in detail. Product evaluation: correct materials both, inside touching your car, and on the outside protection your car from sun damage. Double stitching, fan placement and type, power cord placement that protection for your car and remote-controlled power box...from rain. Straps under the car are high quality. And HailProtector added a simple retracting tape measure to bring the under-car straps to you without getting on the ground, reaching under your car... to grab them.
2 DC power options, the battery pack that holds 8 AA, or your car battery (it does not use a lot of power, so your safe for a long inflation protection time. Home, Office…A/c electricity. I added a smart wi-fi plug to my garage power outlet, it controls my extension cords that are plugged into the HailProtector. I can inflate from anywhere! My friend is using it in her garage. She inflates it via Wi-Fi, just before his kids get home. No more kid scratches, dents, bike leaning on the car...
Downside: It has an inner and outer material, are connected at the edge. If not removed as instructed, it becomes a really big cover. Like a slightly inflated personal hot air balloon. It’s easy, just slid it off… or Watch the slow, YouTube video on removing the cover. It’s easy once you know how.
