These guys need to get their act together.
These guys need to get their act together regarding donated furniture. There has to be a better way than an on-the-spot decision to not take it. There is no consideration given to the donor's time and effort to prepare and place these items for pick up, or the opportunity cost of not selling or donating elsewhere in the meantime.
I recommend the following strategy: If you are planning to donate furniture to them, go ahead and schedule a pickup, but do not count on it being taken when they arrive. In the meantime try to sell it on craigslist for even a pittance. If they are going to make me play dice with whether or not the furniture is going to get picked up, I'm going to make them play dice with whether or not it will be there.
Provide more information to donors.
I am shocked to learn that a donation cannot be accepted because furniture was "Around" a pet.
The process and waiting times are by far ridiculous (1 month) and after all this time, a person just told me that they cannot accept the items because they were around a pet.
I personally think that you should state that the donations should be for BRAND NEW items that have not been exposed to absolutely any allergens and see how many items you get.
This orgainzation is not a Charity!
Horrible experience I had nice pieces…
Horrible experience I had nice pieces of furniture to donate so I called and someone asked for photos I sent photos. The person said yes we will take it off. Please go online and schedule a pick up. So that was not an easy process. I did schedule a pick up and then the day before today as they were supposed to pick up tomorrow. They emailed me and said they couldn't take two out of the three items. Last minute. I have everything in the garage. In the way of other projects I need to do. I am not happy. I told them as much I told him to never mind. I'll donate all items elsewhere. No need to come out for just one thing. Boo.
Rude employees
I had a sofa sectional that I scheduled for pickup to donate. The sectional separated into individual pieces for ease of moving, and I had already separated for the drivers benefit. The sofa also had a small hole that had duct tape on it...the drivers came in, took one look, declared the couch 'broken' and then stated they wouldn't take the couch. When I asked why, one driver became incredibly rude and said he wouldn't take what they couldn't sale, that the couch was 'broken'...I tried to explain that the couch was apart so it could be easily moved, but he basically stormed out, leaving my screen door wide open without ensuring it was closed properly.....the reactions of the drivers was so incredibly rude; the fact that they didn't want the couch (a $3k sectional sofa) is besides the point, we donated to another charity that was BEYOND thankful to have it. I called and emailed two different sources to discuss the drivers actions, even emailing pics of the sofa put together since the drivers refused to let me explain, and never heard anything back. I realize it's a nonprofit, but they should have better customer service and acknowledge when their employees were in the wrong.
Great resource every location, will find something!
Have visited 12 ReStore locations in 3 states, can honestly say they each have their own unique qualities; and every one has SOMEthing of value for consumers. Runs the range from New-in-box to HOW did they Get this? & most stages in-between. It's a great resource for materials, accessories & the odd item I never expected to find there. PC monitor stands in Tampa, Yeti cup lids in Gulfport, MS, Amazing Yard Sales in Gainesville (THE best store I've seen yet, management is visible, involved & helpful!) Will be back to visit more
Jeremy at the Manatee store is a gem!
Just want to say, Jeremy at the Manatee store in Bradenton has been wonderful. He’s quick to help, carries furniture out promptly and does it all with a great attitude.
Great organisation - donated kitchen
Highly recommend! We're delighted our kitchen can be re-used! We dealt with the most friendly people & had a stress-free experience. Thank you!
Bad experience donating a fridge
We contacted Habitat for Humanity Restore to donate a fridge. They accepted our offer after viewing the pictures and descriptions we sent. After about a month, they asked us to get the fridge ready for curbside pickup. It took us lots of effort to move the fridge out of the apartment building so it's convenient for them to pick up. We waited for a whole day but the fridge was still there. We called them and was told that the offer was rejected since there are already too many in their inventory.
It's inconsiderate and unprofessional to make a last minute change without noticing us. We waited for a month for them to respond, removed the apartment door in order to get the fridge out and now we need to move it back in.
I hope you can get more organized and competent in the future. I do like your mission to "provide access to safe and decent housing for everyone". But you can't achieve it if you continue disappointing people that can potentially help and make their lives harder.
Excellent value for all the items…
Excellent value for all the items purchased at the Silver City location. Excellent community resource.
Amazing organization
Amazing organization. If you are selected to receive a Habitat home you put in sweat equity to help in the building of a Habitat home. You BUY the home but there is no interest charged so the mortgage payments are manageable!
