My favourite recipe box

I've used other recipe boxes, and this is my favourite so far. It allows me to choose meals that align with my nutritional preferences, such as low-carb, high protein, high-fibre, etc. The range of vegetarian recipes seems to be more interesting than usual, and you can add extras such as prawns or chicken, which is useful if you have non-vegetarians sharing the meal. So far, the recipes have been relatively easy to cook, and deliciously tasty. They tell you what utensils you need, which is useful to know if you're cooking in a kitchen that's not so well equipped. We usually only get recipe boxes for a (self-catering) holiday - we're retired so we have a few - but I think we'll be having some Green Chef boxes at home too.
My only gripe is the number of plastic sachets for some of the ingredients, but that's a difficult problem to solve. Maybe reusable/returnable containers? Or compostable plant-based materials?

The food never arrives when it should.

First the positive, the food is actually very good, great recipes with good quality ingredients.

Sadly they are unable to reliably get the food to your doorstep.

The use of Evri as a courier leads to delays and boxes that never make it.

The customer service both on chat and on the phone contradict themselves and are unable to actually locate your box nor provide an accurate idea of when it will arrive. What a shame. Back to Gousto I go.

Terrible

Terrible, I trialled Greenchef for quite a few weeks as they just had to credit me each week due to missing ingredients and completely wrong meals. Every single week. Not worth the cost either very basic. Veg always looked like it would be off within a day

If I could give this company a 0 I…

If I could give this company a 0 I would, signed up as I couldn’t see the menu without entering my bank details. Upon doing so I realised it wasn’t for me and cancelled my account. The next day they took the money out of my account and sent an email confirming the box was on its way I took this on the chin as my own fault for giving my bank details. Saturday comes round and the box doesn’t arrive leaving me and my family without dinner as I hadn’t been shopping as I had this box arriving so we had to order takeaway leaving me even more out of pocket. I called Sunday to chase to be told that the box wasn’t coming but I haven’t had communication of this and they still have my money for the box???? People on the phone and chat have awful customer service. It’s now a week later and I still dont have my refund. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Negligence

On Instagram they showed they had a variety of vegetarian options...i could not see the meals until I paid for a subscription..once I paid i noticed only one vegetarian option as I'm vegan it was no use so
I tried to cancel straight away within 30 mins of signing up.
They said they needed 24 hours !!!
It was not even 30 mins .
5 days later a delivery came to my house containing pork,beef and chicken i was disgusted !!!!

Really fresh ingredients. Delivery well informed and on time.
Delicious, easy recipes so far 2 weeks in.
Good value for money with the introductory discount offers.
Great choice that I can choose from a wide selection of recipes that suit me and portion size good.

Pile of shit…. Let down

Pile of shit….

They just can not get the orders right. I’m constantly on the phone to complain and they feed you with the same old lip service about how sorry they are, we wi speak to our teams.
I’ve been let down 40-50 times over the past 12 months. Over it

NEC wedding show ‘free box’ scam stall

Went to the NEC wedding show and the girl on the green chef stand asked if we wanted a ‘free box’ from green chef.
Signed up she put in the codes for us to get a free box and said to choose want we wanted meal wise and what date to receive. Did this and the full box price was attempted to be taken out of my account yesterday, nothing free. Called up and they cancelled the order and payment, skipped all boxes for a month and have given me 30% off the next 8 boxes.
Soon as I was off the phone I fully cancelled online and removed all my details and closed the account.

Good quality ingredients. Encourages me to eat healthier. Quick and easy and good portion sizes - in fact quite often I can get three meals out of a meal for two

Recipes are generally very good

Recipes are generally very good, but communication with the company when there’s an issue is very poor. I’ve had items missing, and my box continually left at my front door, in full view of the road, rather than the back door, out of sight, when I’m not home. I have reported this on numerous occasions but it’s been ignored

Scammers

I saw an advert for a discounted start to their subscription, you have to join before you see their meals, so I did.
I changed my mind after seeing the meals, and canceled the subscription.
Since then they have made six attempts on my card, even after speaking to two people who told me ‘rest assured no further money will be attempted’ they still attempted.
Scam company, I have had to block my card and order a new one

Customer Service was handled badly

The food choices were good. Excellent instructions. Where they let themselves down is in customer service. I was notified by the courier that there was a problem in delivering my box and to contact Green Chef. So I phoned and spoke to a man and explained why I was phoning. He kept saying that the box would arrive by 9pm. I repeated several times that the courier told me to contact Green Chef and all he kept saying was I had to wait until 9pm but it would be delivered that day and then told me that he had nothing more to say and was ending the call. Needless to say, no box. The next day Green Chef emailed to say there were problems and I would not be getting that week’s box and a refund would be given. Not a great service and I cancelled all future box orders.

A different approach to food with Green Chef

Recipes were delicious

Recipes were delicious. Packaging was a bit annoying as the bottom of the box fell through on the floor along with the contents. But generally the food was really good with ample portions. My 19 year old is loving learning to cook with them.
