Fraudulent activity almost always involves digital gift cards, which are typically redeemed within minutes. When a refund isn’t possible, it’s because we’ve already attempted to devalue the purchased cards, but they had unfortunately been used by the time the issue was reported.
For your own safety, I strongly recommend getting in touch with your bank so they can block your card and guide you on any next steps. It’s also important to file a report with Report Fraud via the official police website: https://www.reportfraud.police.uk/.

The gift cards were fraudulently purchased
The gift cards were fraudulently ordered. A friend’s e-mail account was hacked, and I received a request from “ her” to send 3 gift cards in the amount of £100 each to an ailing friend. I did so inasmuch as she is tending to her husband with dementia. Only after ordering the three gift cards did I hear from her that she had been hacked and had not made the request. I would like restitution to be made to my credit card account for the fraud perpetrated on me by an unknown person requesting these gift cards.

Because of this, the order can’t be cancelled and a refund isn’t possible on our side.

The best next step is to contact your bank straightaway so they can block your card and guide you on any protections they can offer. It’s also important to report the incident to Report Fraud (https://www.reportfraud.police.uk/) so the authorities can log the case.
