I got John Lewis gift cards from work as a thank you for 25 years service. Unfortunately they were awarded whilst I was in the midst of recovery from cancer and suffering from severe side effects affecting my energy and mobility. I am still recovering but felt finally able to go to shops for fist time since my diagnosis. May gift cards have expired. I contacted Prezzee explaining the situation and asked if they could help me giving them a lot of private information about my previous 2 years health.
Their first response was unsympathetic and nothing they could do I’d have to speak to John Lewis. John Lewis were empathetic and said they would look into if I could forward the gift card references. I reverted to Prezzee who then told me John Lewis could not help me as the JL gift cards had never been activated and there were no references. They then suggested I approach my employer and ask for more gift cards!
When I pointed out that there was no way I was going to do that they said they would look into again but the answer today was a categoric no.
Their lack of sympathy and regard for their customers has been extremely upsetting. Ultimately it is my fault through extremely mitigating and extreme and provable circumstances. Had the gift card been genuine John Lewis gift cards rather than just effectively a photos of JL gift cards the outcome may have been different.
It is sad that Prezzee have benefitted from my reward and ill health. The reason for the review is to make future customers aware of their lack of customer care and empathy and to advise you to buy the actual store gift card or make sure you review that they have been activated!
Read the response from Prezzee which shows that (1) they have either not read my review or (2) they have poor attention to detail as FOR THE 2nd time they have referred me back to JL yet when I went to JL the first time and JL said they would review if I could provide the gift card numbers PREZZEE told me JOHN LEWIS won’t be able to help you as the gift cards were not activated and there are no reference numbers. ROUND IN CIRCLES. No doubt the next response will be to ask my employer for replacement gift cards.
Awful lack of care
Thank you for your further response regarding the need to sort with John Lewis. This contradicts the advice previously provided by Prezzee customer service who advised that John Lewis would not be able to assist as the gift cards were not activated. This is detailed in my original review. Who is correct?

Clunky text customer service. Terrible for accessing my need as they didn’t help at all - and I spoke to three different advisors over 40min
I gave up and lost the money

I sent a gift card but mistakenly put a higher instead of a lower case letter on recipients email address. So I needed help to resolve it and Jerry A. Helped me sort it and resolved the situation.

Very frustrating chat experience with chat bot Joy. Didn’t understand my questions, made it extremely frustrating. Had to keep asking to “speak to human” finally got through to a human who managed to help, the two stars are for him, without him, I would have put 0. The Joy chat bot is very frustrating. Please just use human customer service agents, instead of a robot. Never works.
Response: updated to one star now.
Your response proves my point perfectly.
You’ve posted a generic template reply and haven’t even bothered to replace the placeholder text (“[Include specific issue mentioned by the customer]”). That clearly shows my review wasn’t properly read, and no real effort has been made to address the issue.
This is exactly the problem I experienced, poor, impersonal customer service and reliance on automated or scripted responses that don’t actually resolve anything.
If this is how you handle complaints publicly, it doesn’t give any confidence that anything is being taken seriously behind the scenes.
I will not be using your service again, and I would strongly advise others to be cautious.

I had an issue with my phone where I wasn’t able to receive the access codes to log into my account. I used the chat service and spoke with Alfred who was very helpful and knowledgable. I managed to get the code sent to my sister’s number so she could give it to me. I couldn’t believe how quickly Alfred was able to arrange this as I was able to log into my account swiftly. Thank you, Alfred. You’re a star. ☺️
