I've been a flywheel client hosting about 100 sites on Flywheel for several years now. Great ecosystem, if you're a webdev there are a lot of great tools.
I feel like I get a lot of value from their program.
They were bought by WP Engine a few years ago, and eventually they will be, I assume, shutting down Flywheel and merging into WP Engine - which will be sad, because FW is great.
Only annoyance was I had a frustrating "account rep" who lied to me a bunch. I have a much more honest one now, but "tech-bro" sales guy really ground my gears for a bit there.
Never working with Flywheel again
Never working with Flywheel again. I've been a customer for 4 years and can't get a response from support. No wonder everyone is canceling and moving to other providers. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced.

My experience mirrors many of other reviewers. Flywheel has steadily declined over the past 5 years, once decent service and website speeds have been replaced with mediocre service and unacceptably slow page loads. They seem to have taken a page out of the BlueHost playbook, cram too many websites onto a shared server, to the point that resources are maxed out and website performance suffers. AVOID!
Absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible. In the top 2 worst managed Wordpress hosting providers I've ever dealt with. Their hosting cannot handle high volumes of traffic. Whenever an SEO crawl is done on my client's websites, the site stalls.
Whenever I try to make edits to the sites using wordpress the site stalls. It takes me hours, literally, to get a change done on websites that would usually only take me 5 minutes. Terrible

So far, so good
I use flywheel for my website. So far, everything’s been great but have been made aware of the negative reviews on here. I may or may not have issues in the future, but only time can tell. This is why I’m giving it 3 stars.
Long term client in the process of moving away from Flywheel
We have been a client of Flywheel for a VERY long time. Originally this was a great company, great support, and always there to help out. Then, they were merged/taken over and all changed... helpdesks that now have the get out clause that they need to get a techie involved, advice that is a cut and paste of scripts, forcing advice to use expensive 3rd parties to maintain uptime, and what is really galling, the only contact from the account managers when they want to upsell. So, this long term client is on the way out... and has gone from being super happy to being one that will recommend that nobody should touch them unless you want expensive downtime, hacks, and attempts to upsell.
Don't even think about it…
I have been using Hosting services for over twelve years to host my websites. Flywheel is definitely the absolute worst hosting provider I have ever come across. I blame myself as I should have checked the reviews. Save your time, money and your patience. Stay as far away from Flywheel Hosting as you possibly can.

My late husband passed 2019. I'm registered in van Buren county Arkansas as owner. I've been fighting them with a lawyer since 2019.Not only did they freeze his checks they also stole his brother's checks the late tony Bradley. Beware!! Never return phone calls. Quattlebaum mountain wells van Buren county Arkansas. Flywheel energy Oklahoma is a major problem. Seeco was much better service.

This is the worst hosting company we've ever encountered. Their customer support people contradict each other with each email or chat message. It feels like constantly gaslighting. Used to be better. Can't wait to leave.

Shameful
Gone downhill, WAY downhill.
So, so sad... Been with FW for several years, and back then they could not have been better. Amazing service, great product, my site was blazingly fast, WP updates were installed correctly, they updated the PHP versions quickly, etc. Then... WP Engine bought them and it's been downhill ever since.
To be fair, when I started their plans were perfect for my business; I am not an agency, and maintain two sites. So I bought two single-site plans. It was not cheap, but neither was it outrageous considering the excellent service and product. But over time I needed a 3rd website and this is where the wheels came off. They changed their plans to where you now must buy 10 sites. Their single site plans were rearranged and storage, bandwidth and visitor limits are laughingly low. So as I was looking for alternative hosting, they charged my annual fee w/o notice. I immediately asked for a refund and they basically said "Go pound sand". The guy actually said I had to cancel first THEN they would think about it. So I'm stuck until summer '25. If you are an agency w/ multiple sites, FW might be a good choice, but God help you if you - or your client - ever need a refund. I HATE Flywheel.
UPDATE: Canceled w/ Flywheel and went with Hostinger. MUCH less expensive for 100 websites. I know, shared hosting, but I upgraded to a large storage capacity and so far it's been exemplery.
Extremely unethical behaviour and owe…
Extremely unethical behaviour and owe me money. I've had to send about 30 emails over the past 3 months to receive their promised refund of $25 - because they said the only way to change server location was to set up a new hosting plan and they'll cancel and refund the existing one. I setup the new hosting plan and requested the refund on the day. Almost three months and 30 emails later still no refund - but an entire 6 weeks of complete ghosting (SO unprofessional and unethical), and then finally responding that ohhh they can only pay me via paypal. I said no, send it back to my card on the account since Paypal would incur fees, require a signup and verification process, and mess up my business accounting but do you think they've done that? Of course not! Scammers who waste both time and effectively steal money. Go with someone with actual ethics and proper communication and coopoeration abilities.
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs, they don't use cpanel so make it very difficult for you to fix any issues that come up (E.g. can't even update basic plugins in Wordpress as they've locked down php settings / restricted resources required), worse still, when you move away from them, your updates wont work as they modify wordpress files to refer to their own rubbish and requires wp-setting files and others to be 'corrected' in order to work.

Disappointing Experience with getflywheel.com: Slow Loading and Unsupportive Service
My experience with getflywheel.com has been nothing short of frustrating. The site itself is a glaring example of inefficiency, taking an exasperating 8 seconds to load. What's more disheartening is the dismissive response from the support team, who nonchalantly claim that the issues are beyond the scope of their service.
It's particularly aggravating when you consider the fact that Flywheel markets itself as the fastest hosting provider. The irony is hard to ignore, and I can't help but dub them "slowwheel" with their accompanying lackluster support. It's disappointing to see a company fail to live up to the very promises they boldly advertise.
Made Website Performance Go Downhill
Ever since the switch last June 2023, the website went downhill. Errors never stopped. I cannot provide the receipt as proof because I am not the owner, but I am the SEO specialist of that site and I can share the URL in private. Before Flywheel the SEO performance was great. After the switch to Flywheel, errors never stopped that I had to audit every week!
Invalid Help Support
Using "Get Help" window: Invalid answer from an agent and somehow the system is writing messages by itself as if I was the one writing it. For example "Thank you very much sir" and "Have a nice day", etc. Those messages is something that the system somehow writes by itself without my consent. As if I were the one who wrote that. Check this image as an example: ibb[dot]co/n1pWMjG (Replace the [dot] by a real dot symbol) (The image from this URL will be automatically removed after 1 month)
Nothing but praise
I have nothing but praise for Flywheel and the work their support team does. They're fast, knowledgeable, and very helpful.
