A fundamental tool for genetic genealogy, although not for laymen, it helps a lot to find relatives and cross informations for common matches.

Making connections with other family trees and DNA projects, GEDmatch.com has helped me get closer to finding family matches that give me more insight to my 2nd great-grandfather's parents, siblings, areas where they lived and moved from before family coming to America.
Wish GEDmatch.com would be able to somehow advertise a link on each of the DNA vendors out there to further educate the public as a whole about their mission to have as many folks as possible download their raw DNA, join GEDmatch.com and become a worldwide site of bringing families together from their homeland back in history.

I think gedmatch is amazing and I wouldn’t be without it.

Excellent resource for working on genetic genealogy. Between Gedmatch for identifying chromosome and segment and using paper documents, many of my brick walls have come down. Highly recommend.

I love how regardless of what company one's DNA test is with, you will be matched on GED if they register. I love all the tools provided. GED is just 100% awesome. Thank you for making it happen for so many xx

I love Gedmatch and have been using it for some years. The tools available are great, and I do use Tier 1 tools from time to time to help figure out relationships. I've tracked down a number of relatives through the site which has added a lot to my ever growing family tree. Being able to compare kits is a great tool and I've been working out the chromosomes that I share with matches which helps figure out where they fit. Love it and couldn't work without it!

It has given me a great many insights into my family allowing me to make connections and figure out my great grandmother's origins and realize that we all are descendants of pedigree collapse. Hahaha and that the information my mother gave or didn't give can be corroborated here. Having 40 kits on gedmatch makes me a bit of noodge but my family's indulging me and taking tests has also been most gratifying.

I absolutely love it! It took ages to understand it but perseverance paid off and I now pay monthly for Tier 1 as it offers so much. I've broken down so many proverbial 'brick walls' which I could never have done by comparing the chromosomes of people I suspected of being related to. GEDmatch (combined with DNA Painter) is a 'wonder tool'! There are many good online tutorials and user groups on Facebook which are a great help. I couldn't imagine giving it up now.

I use GEDmatch every single day. There are so many options to what is possible. I have learned so much about myself and my families. Additionally, i have made wonderful friends among my matches!
I do not feel fearful sharing on the site.
What would make it better is if more people would download their family trees (GEDcoms). You would not believe all the possibilities available once your family tree is downloaded.

The information I gleaned from this site is second to none. GEDmatch is an excellent site to research your roots and origins as well as locate blood relatives.

GEDmatch is our lifeline to doing family and group DNA research and discovery. Safe and protected, but yet we can use the various research models to investigate our ancestry. If you belong to a family Ancestry group, you have to have GEDmatch!

GEDmatch has enabled me to verify relationships between ancestors by connecting me to already verified descendants.

A very useful site for comparing and finding dna matches. I especially like the Ancestor projects and the comparing two kits tool, as well as the absolutely necessary one-to-one autosomal tool.

Fantastic resource and easy to use. Upload your raw DNA from whichever company you tested with, ie Ancestry, 123.com etc (there are details on all these sites about how to get your raw data) then you'll get a number ie ZK123456. You can then use the free tools on the Gedmatch website to see who you are related to. You compare their number with yours. Massive amount of free resources on the Gedmatch website, highly recommend.
