It's the great equalizer across multiple platforms. Due to participation by others (people) from different companies, you get free or low cost access to a diagnostic tool that brings in matches that you would otherwise not see.

GEDmatch is the only online company that is able to make DNA comparisons precisely.

The ability to compare 'In Common With' matches. A brilliant tool for seeing who is a member of which family (or not!). The Information is easily downloadable / copied for local analysis.
Having TREES is the key to successful match analysis. How else can I 'see' my 5th & 6th cousins if folk do not research families during 1700s?

I have been a subscriber for over 10 years. This site has the best DNA analysis tools of any site, hands down. It's a pity more people don't upload or add their trees.

Great site for reseaching family and seeing matches that have up loaded their dna from other sites. Totally adictive too. You can see who matches you and also matches another person and see if your parents are related.

Glad a site was created to combat all the monopolized ones....haha!!

It was good, but I only got to use the website for less than a day until my account got blocked, and now every time I try log in it says access denied contact gedmatch support as it thinks I'm a bot. I've tried contacting Gedmatch support 3 times, and I've gotten 0 replies over the last week and a half. Now I don't know what to do!

Without a doubt, Gedmatch is the best for helping locate and PROVE genetic familial matches. I've been using Gedmatch for years, and through their excellent DNA matching, and my DNA, I've been able to help a couple people determine and locate who their bio fathers were. I've also solved a couple of "family mysteries" of my own using Gedmatch. I HIGHLY recommend using them!

Very useful site for matching various relationships with other researchers

Gedmatch is one of the most reliable genealogy references. It has a lot of information available and some trick tools that can be used by subscription. I have solved numerous family mysteries from information on Gedmatch. It works and the genetic information is solid.
