Grubby
We went into Gails in Wanstead and had two lukewarm coffees and an equally luke warm quiche. The quiche was very tasty to be fair.
I was compelled to write a review as the place was grubby. There were three tables that remained uncleared for the half hour we were there, there were tea/coffee stains up the walls, chairs and tables were crammed in together and the floor needed a good mopping. It was like a bad motorway service station cafe. For the prices of the coffees etc, employing a cleaner/table clearer wouldnt break the bank!
Favourite cafe in the area …
Had a lovely strong pot of English breakfast tea, and a chocolate cookie perfect dunking accompaniment 😍 thanks Suzie (staff) for the tip. Staff are so friendly in here, always welcoming and the building is the nicest in the area to have a tea/coffee 😍

Sometimes you need the warmth and welcome
Came here yesterday evening before a difficult meeting and after a long and wearing day. Sev the manager was warm, accomodating to my extras and made me feel welcome. Ahmed made the drink to perfection. I asked their names as I decided it important to recognise those interactions. The coffee and pastry was great. My teen, a sulky, shy and surly boy left grinning like a loon too! Came here this morning to grab my coffee, and even though it's only been a few hours, lo and behold Sev is here again, still smiling and giving exceptional customer service! Spot on.

Best coffee, wonderful service!
The staff are professional and really care about customer service. Annie made me the best coffee I have tasted for a long time. A pleasure to visit.

I bought pain au chocolate and almond croissants. They were bready and doughy, had little filling and tasted of nothing. Very disappointing as they are so expensive. They used to be better - there's definitely been a downward shift in quality. Won't bother again.
