Floorstore - Wakefield Reviews 

On 30th August 2025 we went to our local store of The floorstore. I was asked if I needed any help to which I kindly asked the sales assistant how many packs of wood flooring of this particular pack i would need to cover a floor of a 4 by 4. She told me I needed 7 boxes which was fair enough so I bought 7 boxes. When I had completed the laying of the floor I was 2 boxes that was surplus to requirement. I took the 2 boxes back for a refund on the 2nd September (3days later) to be amazed to be told that I could not have a full refund that 25% needed to be deducted off my refund as they have a 25% restocking fee that they charge. He pointed out a notice that said this about a 25%fee..but after doing some googling asking if this was actually a thing apparently it is telling me legally a retailer cannot charge a fee for re-stocking, they can ask for a fee for other things like delivery charges but no delivery was needed as I collected and delivered back . So I will be now contacting the Head office with my finding that this is illegal in the UK APPARENTLY. So customers keep this in mind when thinking of using The floorstore

FOR YOUR COMPANY TO DECIDE TO CALCULATE A 10%WASTAGE AS IF PEOPLE ARE NOT CAPABLE OF FITTING A FLOOR CORRECTLY WITH YOU DECIDING THEY MAY NEED TO BE ALLOWED FOR WASTAGE. YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEDUCT 25%OFF THERE REFUNDS AND INSULT THEM BY SAYING YOU ARE DOING IT AS A GOODWILL GESTURE. YOU ARE A DISGRACE AND STOLE MY MONEY WHICH I SHOULD OF BEEN ABLE TO HAVE A FULL REFUND FOR THE TWO BOXES I RETURNED. AS FOR ME EXCEPTING?? I DID NOT EXCEPT IT I WAS GIVEN IT THINKING I WAS GETTING MY TRUE VALUE.I RETURNED MY 2 BOXES EXPECTING TO GET MY FULL MONEY BACK. IT WASNT UNTIL I LOOKED AT THE RECEIPT AND SAW I HADNT GOT MY FULL REFUND. IT WAS THEN I WAS TOLD YOU HOLD 25% BACK WHAT YOU CLASS AS RE-STOCKING FEE. SO PEOPLE ARE GOING TO HAVE SPARE BOXES IF YOU TAKE IT ON YOURSELVES TO CALCULATE A 10% FOR WHAT YOU ASSUME THEY ARE GOING TO NEED AS WASTE. (UNLESS YOU EXPECT YOUR ITEMS TO BE DEFECTIVE)

Very helpful throughout the entire process.

From first guidance about types of suitable carpets in the store, and including the willing loan of carpet samples to assess their suitability in our home.

After we chose which carpet we wanted, the order we received was exact and comprehansive, together with a specific date for installation.

The carpet laying team arrived on the agreed date, were pleasant to waok with, and did a very professional job of laying the carpet we chose.

They left the room in which the new carpet was laid clean and clear of any detritus. And they took away the old carpet and underlay.

It was text book example of customer service from beginning to closure.

Where do I start?!
After initial visits to this store we thought we were in good hands and staff was friendly but this changed after we paid the deposit money to place the order.

We wanted flooring and installation for a new build and clearly explained the requirements. We wanted to put in a tentative date but were told to call back with a final date. As this was dependent on exchange it was obvious we could not provide a date when we paid deposit. When we came back with a date we were rudely told that- “do you think we can arrange fitting at the drop of a hat”. Initially they said they cant fit at all leaving us with potentially no floors when we move in which would ruin the entire home moving experience.

On asking if we can cancel the order they arranged a fitter but only for main areas and no bathroom so had to cancel bathroom flooring which was alright as we were saved from their fitter experience.

While we thought and hoped the bad experience was over, we had a worst experience from fitter.

Initially he turned up late and then said he cant finish work in 2 days planned with builder.(Not sure if now they thought they can plan and change at the drop of a hat:) )
The fitter was unprofessional as he asked for staying late and starting early which our builder helped by opening early but then fitter never turned up on time wasting others time and not staying up to commitment.
Fitter asked for cash money obviously to work around tax but even then left an unclean place at the end and unfinished work as he took out couple of doors and increased work for us. Not to forget the rubbish left at the place totally embarrassing us in front of our builders.

Whatever you do, do not use the floor fitters they provide and hope you dont the same fitter. We had nothing but problems from the get go!

Great service - great floor

Basically everything went well from start to finish - from choosing our flooring, to the measuring, to the fitting. I couldn't be more pleased and we are already planning our next floor

Knowledgeable staff with great customer service and after sales advice. Fitters were well organised, professional, friendly and helpful. Their craftsmanship is excellent. A great service from start to finish.

Scott in the Wakefield branch was great from start to finish. We came in for a comparison quote with the intention to shop around, but loved the fact that prices were really great and Scott didn’t push the sale, just answered all of our questions and made the experience hassle free. I would definitely recommend!
Our filters were great too, JLT Carpet Fitters. So friendly and quick. The job was carpet for 3 bedrooms, stairs & landing, to be fitted over 2 days, but they were in and out over those 2 days, in the space of around 3hrs.
I couldn’t be happier with the finished results.

The sales assistant Molly was pleasant, knowledgeable and very helpful. The order came on time and was fitted well.

The product itself is of good quality and I am very pleased with it.

The salesmen are very friendly and not pushy at all for a sale, I was left to have a good look around and make an informed choice of what I wanted. The salesman was very knowledgeable of all the product in the store and gave me the best advice of what to get to go over my underfloor heating systen id already got down within my home he acted in a friendly but professional manner, and not once did he make me feel silly with all the 101 questions I had for him

From the staff in-store that organised the fitting dates, the stock and everything in between; we are more than happy with the service provided!
The day of the fitting, two gentlemen arrived and promptly uplifted and removed the previous flooring and advised me on the best possible fitting for the area; and what would look best in the space. They got straight to work on installing the laminate purchased, remained very professional throughout and finished the installation very quickly, and to a very very high standard.(so much so that we have now requested the fitters originally provided, for all future jobs)
I have to say, after being quoted much higher prices by other companies, we were hesitant to believe that the extremely low price provided by Floorstore would amount to a similar quality of product and finish in comparison to other traders we have received quotes from; but decided to move ahead due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback provided about Floorstore from other customers.
I am honestly able to say that the entire experience has been amazing and WE WILL be returning as a customer - Our floor looks absolutely amazing, we paid a VERY good price for installation and the materials required; and received a great pair of fitters on the day.

Staff were very helpful and polite in store. Knowledgeable about the products. Delivery to store was quicker than expected, and delivery to home was well organised and efficient. Products are of good quality, I have purchased floor covering, carpets and beds from Floorstore and would highly recommend.

Absolutely brilliant! Molly was amazing at helping us with the carpets and laminate flooring. Helped us with the measurements and made sure we had everything we needed. Scott was brilliant also, we had a lot of stuff that we didnt end up using and he was happy to help us with refunding these and doing swaps for other items we needed instead. Extremely helpful staff, very friendly and had us laughing the whole time. Great enviroment!

Managed to get a carpet in for Christmas. The carpet fitter was experienced and friendly. Fitted it a timely manner.

Was really pleased with the service we recieved at Floorstore, Scott was really helpful and very knowledgeable I would definatly go to floorstore when I get carpets for the rest of my house the quality is really good. The carpet fitters were also very good they did a brilliant job of fitting our carpet. Thankyou
