The company began in an Oxfordshire farmyard in the early 1980s, selling terracotta floor tiles at a time when they were relatively unknown by the British public and weren’t available in tile shops. They proved hugely popular, and we opened a small London showroom selling just six different tiles. Customers began requesting glazed wall tiles to complement their terracotta floors and we sourced a small selection of other glazed tiles and put together a brochure covering our entire offering. By the mid 1990s, the company had grown from its humble beginnings on an Oxfordshire farm to having a number of showrooms in London and across the country. Today, we have 26 showrooms in the UK and expect to add two more in the coming year, including a brand-new destination store on New Kings Road in London. Our aim has always been to offer products produced with authenticity, creativity and style, and where possible both handmade and produced as close to home as we can manage. The UK Ceramics Industry has a long tradition and it is one we are keen to support. Having said that, where we spot a tile on our travels that is too beautiful to resist, we do of course secure it exclusively for our customers, many of whom are second generation fans of Fired Earth and its products. Decorating and design have become entrenched in the national mind not just as the preserve of the super wealthy, but as a way to create homes for ourselves and our families that reflect how we like to live today. At Fired Earth we like to think that although it may not be every day our customers choose to redecorate (although our paint does allow for just that level of obsession), we have identified the right looks and styles that feel perfect no matter what the style or age of property. Our website has grown too and now offers almost all of our collections to browse and buy online and shows stunning room sets and great design ideas to help inspire you.

Beautiful tiles & great service. Tiles arrived on time and well packed with no breakages.

Delivery time was good. Colour was perfect. The issue was that it took four coats to get a colour that’s consistent. I’m sure the quality of the paint is great (very low voc) but there’s no way we could afford to paint a room with this stuff. Even after four coats, it’s going to need more.

I loved our bodega tiles although they were very brittle to cut if it was suggested cutting them with a grinder not a tile cutter would have saved 2!
Having said that they look great and shimmer a little at night which looks great at the back of our old fire place

Love my tiles, and have had so many people comment on how great they look. Website was easy to use and ordering was also easy. Delivery was in a timely fashion. Definitely worth stepping away from the same old boring stuff in the high street retailers and use the Fired Earth tiles to make a PzazzY statement in your house!

Unfortunately the Bilbao tiles I ordered were really poor quality, many broke and the builder was very disappointed with them, said they were only worth a quarter of the price I bought them for. The Tivoli tiles on the other hand were excellent, I was very happy with them. It would be good if you could return unused boxes to Fired Earth and mix and match returns rather than returning whole order.

Really pleased with the tiles I choose. What made this exceptional was the customer service in the Bath store. I thought I required additional tiles so placed a second order. When we found I didn't, the sales team offered to help and successfully cancelled the order and speedily refunded my money. Thank you.

Fired Earth used to be our Go To provider of paint, expensive but worth it. Not only the shades and colours but the way the paints worked - or at least it was this way in 2013 when we did our first house.
Fast forward to 2025:
I complained about a “dodgy”‘pot of paint, requiring x4 coats over a similar colour and still being patchy.
Re customer service - amazing. I got send a new 5l pot of paint straight away with an apology.
Re quality of the paint - bad. I painted half the new house with the “new” matt emulsion, which despite its name is shiny and even after many coats looks patchy.
The matt emulsion colours don’t exactly match the eggshell ones.
The finishes are just wrong - walls are shiny and the cabinets are matt and rough, which is awkward at first, but you get used to it.
I do hope somewhere they saved a lot of cost switching to the new supplier of their paint - I won’t go back however.
A far cheaper colour match with Johnstone’s vinyl matt paint did work out brilliantly. Half the cost and half the number of coats. Better colour match to Fired Earth’s eggshell than their own paints.
Really sorry, I used to love this brand but something has gone wrong.
