They sold out their customers by using us to design AI software that damages our profession. We can no longer trust them with our photos or money.

A stab in the back
This company built an empire in the photographer community, quickly becoming an integral part of professional workflows, especially for headshot photography. It’s expensive but worth it in time saved alone. Then, yesterday they rolled out a fully featured and *good* AI Headshot Generator, which is free. It’s a stab in the back to their very customer base. Their aim is to put headshot photographers out of business, the very people that are paying them software subscription fees. Now we will probably see that app get rebranded and released under a brand new name, so they can get their money from both sides. Evoto is probably the most unethical business in the industry.

AI Headshot Generator for the public?!
Evoto built its business on the backs of headshot photographers. Then they turned around and released a full-blown AI headshot generator website. Here are some phrases from their marketing:
-"Compared to a traditional headshot studio, it's faster (seconds vs. days), cheaper (cuts studio costs), and more flexible. It is an online business headshot near you. Generate heashots anytime, no bookings needed, with similar pro quality."
-"Create consistent, professional TEAM headshots that align with your brand, fitting office profiles, email signatures, or client materials, while saving time and studio costs."
-"You get 5 free headshot styles, and can download 2000 profile photos for free!"

You get cheated out of your credits!!
In 2023 I spent £164 to purchase 3600 credits. I'm an amateur photographer, I do not use the platform that much so I thought the credits would be available to me whenever I needed to do some editing.
Yesterday I realised all my remaining 2920 credits have been removed and they're now requesting that I spend even more money to get the credits back!
Customer service does not seem to care at all, you're forced to give them even more money to get back for you already paid for in the first place.
These poor business practices to increase profits are unacceptable!
I will report these issues with trading standards and also inform my fellow photographers to avoid this platform at all costs as it's turning out to be another money scam.

I used to be able to just upload and download the AI-edited photo all through my phone's browser. But now it requires me to download and install an app through desktop or ipad just to get the photo?
Not convenient anymore. I have neither a personal desktop nor an ipad with me now so I can't use it anymore.

They cancelled my account that I had just renewed for $269 without explanation. Not only that but they didn’t refund me back the amount. I’ll change the review if they reverse the cancellation but as of now I haven’t heard back and customer service is non existent.

While Evoto software is top notch - customer service isn't
While Evoto software is really top notch - their customer service is anything but. I have been emailing back and forth with their customer service as well as Paddle (their subscription manager) for nearly a month with out resolution and they only seem to dig the hole deeper. It's been an unreal experience in the worst way. I've been shuffled between so many customer service agents and no one fully reads the issue and the y reply with half cocked responses. I've been told my issue would be escalated and all thats happened was a charge to yet again the wrong payment (the correct one is in my account on their website) and then a canceling of my account WITHOUT a refund. Some how we just keep digging this deeper without resolution and they have zero options for a phone call or conference call - which could resolve this rather quickly.
cheated out of credits
its really great, BUT, there was a software issue where it did not upload my edits. every time I spent hrs editing I'd upload and it would upload my images without edit. it cost me every time. I contacted them and got a automated message to delete the app and reupload after they asked for pictures of my images, screenshots and My Laptop info. they just absolutely will not give you the credits back I sent several emails and no response.
easy to used
easy to used . currently not yet other program retouch as persist as Evoto do .
Evoto streamlined my editing workflow…
Evoto streamlined my editing workflow when it comes to portrait retouching and backdrop corrections its tools arew awesom Highly recommend it to any photographer looking to speed up their post-production.
Sorry
Sorry, but my experience with Evoto was bad from the start. It isn't a user friendly app. I have downloaded the app just to try and see if I like it and would want to use it in the future. But I couldn't export any of my retouched photos, even though the tools looked cool and handy.
NOT Worth the Cost…
Nearing the end of a year long subscription, and all I can say is that it is a a complete RIPOFF...
Also, their login process is seriously flawed.
I will say the editing features are impressive, however...
I have to login every time I use the product even though the program is installed on my desktop. Case in point, I do not have to log into my Photoshop or Lightroom Creative Cloud every time I open the program on my desktop.
Also, every time I open the software I have to go to my email and get the code to be able to use the software.
Ridiculous to say the least...
What's more, the credit / point system is a serious money grab...
We should not be restricted to use based on a how many credits we have in our plan and then have to buy more if we used up those credits and we are not allowed to carry over more than a miniscule amount if we have not used up the credits once the subscription rolls around.
Again, use Photoshop / Lightroom Creative cloud as an example, you pay, you use, whether you edit two photos or a million...
how this can be possible in 2025
lol never saw a company which does not support credit card option hhahahaha
Bad Xp with Support Team
Evoto was innovative when I started using it in 2023, one of the first tools using AI for photo retouching. However, newer AI technologies have now far surpassed it, and the platform no longer feels competitive.
Unfortunately, I also had a poor experience with their support team — they refused to send me an official email confirming my subscription cancellation, even though my account still shows as active. They just told me to “trust their words” on the live chat of their website — a temporary chat that disappears once closed — instead of providing an official written confirmation with legal validity, which is the only real guarantee a user can rely on for legal purposes.
Evoto is a nice app
Evoto is a nice app, the features like skin retouching, stray hair remover, make up has really help me in editing. It’s a go to . It has amazing features that you can think off like background changer, body shape e.t.c
Warning About Evoto AI’s Credit Policy
Warning About Evoto AI’s Credit Policy
Just a heads-up to other photographers using Evoto AI — if you downgrade your plan or let your renewal come up, you lose all credits above your new plan’s rollover limit.
In my case, I’ve spent $651 USD on credits, but will lose 6,373 unused credits (about $351 USD worth) simply because I’m no longer on the higher-tier plan.
That effectively triples my real editing cost from $0.055 to about $0.17 per photo — a nasty surprise I didn’t see coming.
Evoto’s editing tools are good, but this rollover limit makes their pricing misleading and predatory. Think twice before buying large credit packs unless you plan to stay on the same paid plan indefinitely.
Terrible Customer Service
I barely even used my basic subscription plan and never touched my pay as you go (credit) yet ending my subscription ended my pay as you go plan (by company policy it is valid for 2 years) and it hasn't even been a year yet. It hard or almost impossible to reach out to anyone within the company and at best don't even fix the problem or situation being emailed.
