Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Customers frequently encountered issues with payment processing, including unexpected limits on withdrawals and transfers, making it hard to access their own money. They also reported problems with the overall service, such as lengthy account opening processes and difficulties with wire transfers. Spent 4 hours one day to get into my account online.
Had to change my password twice. The next day, today, I needed to pay my credit card on bill pay and could not get back in. Had to call again and it finally allowed me to type in my user name. The new" private investors" have taken 5 days now to transfer the accounts and STIILL have not done so successfully. They are taking all our personal info into their data banks and giving horrible service while doing so. Hoping to transfer my world market and checking acounts out of Everbank

Could it be racism

Besides having an antiquated compliance department policies, apparently if the language of the check is not in English they will refuse to process it. Racist maybe?

Cancelled application

Cancelled my application for no reason. Caused my credit score to drop.

If you search online, you will see they also cancel accounts often for no reason. This is why traditional banking is better than online.

Parts of their website also don't work. If you go to opt of of them selling your information from third parties (which other banks like Revolut don't do), the button doesn't even work.

Bad Customer Service Experience

I am writing because I am disappointed in the way Everbank's VonTasha Whitehead (Customer Care Team) tried to blame me for their failure to deliver the required 1099 INT for the 2023 year. I opened an account with EverBank (then TIAA Bank) a few years ago and in 2022 signed up for paperless communications, so that I would need to get all documents through their online banking. During 2023, I needed to close the account. When I tried to access the 2023 1099 INT on their website in March 2024 to file my income tax return, it was not available in my Everbank online account because Everbank had deleted all documents due to my account being closed. I called to get the 1099 INT, which they did send. However they also sent me a letter saying that it was my fault that I did not receive the 1099 INT because I had signed up for paperless communication. True, but if the Bank is going to delete all my account information and I have no access to the 1099 through their website, then it becomes incumbent upon them to send a copy by mail before the Jan 31st deadline.

Thousands in Savings Disappeared

Signed up for a high yield savings.

The user experience of the desktop platform was confusing and lacked information that is standard on other platforms.

1 month in after transferring my funds, they canceled my account do to missing information but never informed me of either the information needed or the cancellation. I logged into the platform several times with no alerts visible until one day my funds & record of my account vanished with no explanation.

In correcting the issue, their customer service was decent with no language related friction. But after being told I’d receive a fed ex tracking number right away for the check of my now closed account, as well as someone who would help address the issue of missing interest, I have yet to see a follow up and am going to have to call again.

Overall, a huge waste of time and I would not trust them with my money again even though they have the highest APY.

I've been with this bank for many years…

Update to my review ...
After a week with still no access to my accounts (even though I can log in) I called again. This time I spoke with a different person. She had the idea that maybe it's my browser. I tried a different one and sure enough everything worked fine (apparently firefox and safari are giving some people issues on their site). So I've upped the rating back to 4* based on my years of experience with this bank. I suspect the first call rep that handled my issue last week had no idea what he was doing. Led me down the path of 'your account is being reviewed by upper management'.

Initial review ...
I've been with this bank for many years - before they merged with tiaa many years ago. Recently they merged back to become everbank. Today I went only to check my accounts. It logged me in fine but says "you don't have any active accounts". When I called the back the advisor told me "your account is under review by senior management. That review will be finished in 3 business days. I don't have any more information." For no apparent reason they locked me out of my own account. This is not how a bank should work. My money is exiting there fast.
