Lack of understanding of basic customer care and safety in pandemic. No hand sanitiser; no wipes in the context of shared pens; no masks worn by staff; inadequate screens and small poorly ventilated rooms.
Unprofessional dresscode- I would not object to smart casual attire, but clothing worn by staff did not even reach this standard.
Difficult access to offices as very limited hours of opening. The pandemic does not mean hours of operation need to be limited- only needs to limit staff in the offices each day

We used Eric Smith Solicitors to assist us with the sale of our parents home when they both sadly passed away. This was as a recommendation from the estate agents, Karen Ritchie.
Neither myself nor my siblings live in Bolton now. It was really difficult for us to get information from team 1 without numerous Emails or phone calls - we understand that Covid restrictions have made management of businesses more difficult, but i feel that a courtesy weekly update to us would have made the process less stressful for us.
When we were required to go into the business to sign documents I arrived at my alloted time slot. I was buzzed in to the building and left to wait in the waiting area, in the dark as no lights had been put on. When the team member arrived to see me I had to request that he wore a face mask and he seemed quite put out that he would have to go back upstairs to get one. I had written a couple of questions down on a post-it note, and information I needed to pass on to him. There was neither paper or pen in the room, and he ended up asking to take the post- it for reference. This I felt was less than professional, as was his work attire of joggers and hoodie.
Throughout our interaction with this team we felt that we had to 'chase' information and nothing was made easy. It was extremely difficult to attend their premises between 10am and 2pm as we are healthcare workers at the forefront of the Covid crisis. An alternative of an early or later time to visit the business one day a week would have made this an easier and much less stressful thing for us to do.
In the final days prior to completion team 1 did improve with more timely correspondence with us, which was helpful although too little too late I feel.
Eric Smith needs to consider improving;
Their communication with clients.
Their professionalism when meeting with these clients.
Their Covid footprint, including the safety of their clients within their premises.

I have recently sold a property through Eric Smith and worked with Kiran the solicitor who I have to say gave exceptional service through out. She kept me informed in a prompt and professional manner, dealing with questions resolving issues with external agencies and responding to requests for information. She explained the details in a courteous and simple language so we could move forward and complete in a timely and efficient manner. I can’t praise her or Eric Smiths highly enough it was definitely worth the 5 star rating, no hassle good quality service.

Kiran and Aiden have been efficient, polite, and professional during the sale & purchase transactions of our houses. I was particularly impressed when our relationship manager at Lloyds Private Banking commented that Kiran's attention to detail on the purchase of our new property was the best he had experienced in a long time. Kiran had both our and our lender's best interests in mind throughout the whole process. Kiran also explained very carefully all the potential issues which may come up in the future and we were reassured that we had all the facts, in language we could understand, before we made our decisions. Had a very good and professional response from an associate Jack Caley which was refreshing as the immediate lock down contact, phoning and being given an email address which generated an automatic response saying “Wait for 10 days before we read your message” was far from responsive.
This matter was merely collecting the original Will so I could start probate process for my mother’s estate. Was not overly impressed by the response of the solicitor who drew up this document 30years ago. Apparently he is retired from the company and decided that an unsigned email message saying he was willing to withdraw as executor would suffice going forward. When queried he responded by saying he would re-introduce himself should I (the other executor, daughter and sole surviving next of kin) become mentally incapacitated or otherwise incapable. I consider this being a flippant and rather gratuitous comment which merely reinforces my opinion of him from a previous meeting twenty odd years ago following my father’s death. Regardless of this I would say the active company staffers responded more than adequately considering Covid restrictions
