The Saddle Clip improved the quality of my horse's life.
I purchased the saddle clip 3 months ago. It is well made, was easy to start using and is consistent and reliable. There was a short learning curve in using the app and interpreting the results but the website has good images. Emails from the app give important information if something with the horse is amiss. And if you correct the problem with your horse, you get emails telling you it is better. The developer of the app replies with very kind and thoughtful emails.
What is most important is that this tool has made my horse's life better. I was not aware that there was anything wrong with my horse when I purchased the saddle clip. My intent was to use it indirectly as a way to monitor my rider asymmetry, and was not sure if it would work. After a few rides I learned that I was riding my horse more frequently to the left (his easier side) than to the right (stiff side). I corrected that to be more balanced. Perhaps most important and unexpected was when I saw that my horse's gait at the trot was asymmetrical on the right diagonal. This showed up consistently on the saddle clip after each ride. Little orange hoof prints on the right diagonal. Even after we were riding a more balanced workout. I had the vet do a flexion text (slower left hind), then did chiropractic (lower left hip/spine shift) and added treatment for joint pain. One week after those treatments the saddle clip indicated that the asymmetry was gone. And thus far the app shows all green hoof prints (good) consistently. The saddle clip picked up a developing pain problem that might have gone on undetected, or worsened until it was noticeable. I use the saddle clip now with every ride!

Ongoing subscription quite expensive…
Ongoing subscription quite expensive and price about to go up, even though price was quoted when i purchased. Overall quite easy to use, a few frustrations with getting it running initially. Doesn't have some basic data that i expected, still use the Equilab app (free) as well for additional parameters.
Customer support very good.

Neat Device, Good Insight Into Rides
App takes a little getting used to as it's not very intuitive. Once you get used to how you're supposed to navigate the screens it's not bad. I feel like the device sometimes doesn't track my direction correctly if I'm going down the long side of the arena, but otherwise no complaints. It's really nice to see all the details of the ride that it provides.
Edit: When I purchased this device the description said it was free for one horse, however this is not entirely true. Basic features are free for one horse but for all features a subscription is required. Most of the free features can be had with free phone apps so while the device is good plan on needing a subscription for it to be worth purchasing.

Thank you for your feedback!When you connect your Clip the first time, the Equestic App is scanning bluetooth to find SaddleClip nearby. After it App saves the connection log and will automatically connect to your SaddleClip when you start a new ride.If you have several SaddleClips and want to select another Clip for each ride that would require a search/select/connect process every time.

Some great feedback, but a couple of issues.
I am really enjoying being able to see so much data from each ride, but am really struggling with the directional data.
My average direction data seems to say that 84% of the work we do is to the left, and 16% is to the right.
Something seems really off with the directional sensors.
Would love some support for this as I was really hoping to use it for clients who are wanting more feedback when they are riding.

The way the SaddleClip calculates directions is based on the last turn made and the slight left-bend that remains on the straights, typical of how a rider thinks while riding in an arena. If your session involves many transitions or a complex setup, it might be challenging to calculate left/right time. I bought my clip second hand and when it arrived it was damaged.
The company offered me a new clip at a huge discount as well as a free subscription for a period. It was much appreciated.

The feedback on the first rides was quite nice! However, there really isn't a need to keep repeating what is meant by right rein vs left rein or maybe just align it with clockwise and counterclockwise instead of explaining front and hind legs details. The app takes some getting used to in terms of reading the data and the "Direction" page seems to have a lot of numbers all around the circle that don't add up and ever changing gaits blinking on and off but I can take away the general point of any imbalance in direction. The Symmetry page is probably one of my favorites and has me considering the different footing that I ride on and the type of ride lesson vs free ride or conditioning ride!

Amazing informative tool for riders
Absolutely love my Equestic for riding and rehabbing my horses. I purchased after a horse of mine pulled a ligament and needed to be rehabbed. It has been an excellent tool for aiding in his rehab and then for monitoring his ongoing performance now that he is healed. Great tool to know when your horse may need the osteo etc. Highly recommend! Only feedback is I would LOVE if there was an apple watch app extension so that you can leave your phone in your pocket entirely.

It was great however it didn't capture the multiple jumps we did today. In the past it's always been really good about capturing jumps. Maybe I didn't situate the clip correctly on the saddle. Overall great product.

The app is a nightmare
The app is a nightmare. First, I had to change how the interface of the phone worked in order to see the bottom bar on the app - this was a known problem that they did not report prior to purchase. Now, it will not connect to mobile data no matter what I do - every data related and non-data related permission is enabled on the phone. Phone restarted countless times. App uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
I have never had as much technical issues as I have with this device. I want to be able to use this, but I can't because of the app. Equestic technical service has been slow to respond and of no help.
Samsung Galaxy S21 on Tmobile.
EDIT: Their reply is standard for their technical service - "address" one problem but not the other. Yes, I can see the bottom bar when I adjust the user interface. That changes the entire way I use my phone, and is an annoying thing to have to do every time I want to use the clip.
What the technical service response does NOT address is the complete inability of this app to connect to the network on my phone, rendering the clip and the data entirely useless. Just as a check, I tried it on my work phone (not a long term solution) and it worked fine. Something about the app renders it unable to connect to the Tmobile network. This issue is not resolved.

We can understand your disappointment.
Upon investigation, it appears that this issue is occurring in combination with an update of the Android operating system. There are other apps experiencing similar problems.
We are working to find the proper resolution. In the meantime, you can use the Equestic App by making an adjustment in the button navigation settings. Please switch these to "gesture navigation".
You can make these adjustments as follows:
1. Go to the settings app on your phone.
2. Then select Display -> Navigation Bar -> Select Swipe gestures
3. Tap 'More options' to select a navigation bar that suits you best: the options with "the three lines" is the most aligned with the navigation you had before.
4. Close the Equestic app and reboot your phone.
Please, let us know how this works out for you.

Data losses and data gaps
Disappointed in the app. Records things as jumps that are not jumps.
Sometimes data for impulsion, etc. does not show up in the app. Even when data is saved.
If the blue tooth disconnects from the accelerometer, the data to that point does not save.
If the phone dies and therefore the blue tooth connection is lost, the data to that point does not save.

You are right, some elements like a piaffe or flying changes have very strong impulsion.So it could also be recognised by the SaddleClip as jumps - which is described in user manual. We are working to teach the model to also distinguish it. (but not ready to announce it)
If data was sent to our servers it will be safe and available. But if the phone has slow connection (no WiFi or 4/5G) - that it would take some time to upload data from the phone and download results back to you.
If the phone "died" during the ride and the Equestic App was offloaded - then unfortunately there is no way to get your unstored ride data from the Clip. Please make your phone charged (and have some free space of storage) to upload riding data after the ride. You can use the charger or a power bank to make it for sure.
