STAY AWAY

STAY AWAY! Emotive is, without exaggeration, one of the most dishonest and predatory SaaS vendors I have ever dealt with. Pricing is deliberately opaque. Carrier fees, taxes, minimum spend “true-ups,” and reporting exclusions are hidden or downplayed, creating the illusion of acceptable ROI while masking the true cost. Sales behavior is aggressive and unprofessional. Promises made during onboarding routinely collapse once the contract is signed. Reporting is unreliable, accountability is nonexistent, and the platform itself is clunky, outdated, and wildly overpriced. AVOID!

Disappointed with Emotive's SMS Services

I tried Emotive’s SMS platform and found it unnecessarily complex and outdated. The interface feels clunky, and it’s clear they’re relying on legacy technology that doesn’t meet modern standards. What’s worse—they charge a monthly fee even if you don’t actively use the service, which feels unfair and misleading.
Customer support was slow and unhelpful when I reached out for assistance. Overall, the experience was frustrating and not worth the cost. I would not recommend Emotive to anyone looking for reliable or user-friendly SMS solutions.

I would give this 0 stars if I could

I would give this 0 stars if I could. Just incredibly inconsiderate employees pushing a subpar product. They emailed and texted me relentlessly requesting that I hop on a demo call. We are a top 1% Shopify store, so we get these solicitations quite often. Nonetheless, I booked a demo call to see what their app could offer. The call was a no-show, totally wasting my time. After months, to maybe even a year, I began receiving constant solicitations from Emotive once again. As we are currently searching to expand our tech stack, I decided to book another call and give them another chance. They also promised a gift card for attending the call, so there was really no reason not to book. To no one's surprise, they no-showed once again!

After this complete lack of regard for my time and its value, I was still urged to book a thrid call with them. T this, I responded, "I will have to pass, as this is the second time this has happened with Emotive."

Emotive's response to this was, "I am truly sorry if you feel that way."

Just unprofessional from top to bottom, regardless of how many opportunities you provide them to redeem themselves. Honestly, I would recommend everyone to stay far away and use someone more professional.

STAY AWAY

As a small business owner, I can confidently say Emotive has the worst billing practices I’ve ever dealt with. After missing a payment, they tried charging my card 29 times in one month. Yes, twenty nine. When I finally made a one time manual payment, they took that as permission to keep using that card for future charges, even though it was never saved or authorized for ongoing use.

They brushed it off like it was no big deal and hid behind their contract. No accountability. No ownership.

I get it. Everyone deserves to be paid. I’m a small business too. But this kind of behavior is shady and unprofessional.

I’ve already shared my experience with a business group of over 200,000 members and I’ll keep speaking up. If you're considering using Emotive, think twice. There are better platforms out there that won’t mishandle your payment info or your trust.

40% are 1-Star Reviews, Hmm...

Emotive's onboarding process was misleading, and their pricing tactics felt deceptive. Initially, my sales manager provided a rate quote, but after signing up and using the service for months, I discovered Klaviyo’s rates (my current email marketing provider) were significantly lower. When I questioned this, my rep admitted she was only trying to beat Attentive’s rates - not offering me the best deal upfront. After extensive back-and-forth, they begrudgingly adjusted my rates but locked me into a new 12-month contract without clear disclosure in our dozens of emails, only revealing it when I attempted to cancel. [They updated the rates on the contract, so that's all I read, not realizing they amended the end date of the contract because we never discussed that was going to happen.]

The lack of transparency and integrity in their pricing and contract terms eroded my trust completely. As a long-time entrepreneur (26 years), I’ve worked with countless service providers & vendors, and this is the first time I’ve ever left a 1-star review. A quick glance at their 1-star reviews shows I’m not alone - there’s a pattern here, and I wouldn’t recommend Emotive to any small business owner.

Customer Service is King at Emotive

I have used the Emotive service for a few years, and my experience has only improved. My customer experience manager, JC, is smart, creative, and very responsive. He has taken a personal interest in my brand's growth with Emotive. He always has great ideas and works with his team to execute them. As a small business, the one-on-one help Emotive provides is invaluable. I would highly recommend Emotive over other SMS services.

Emotive is great..AT SELLING.

The team at Emotive is great.... at selling. this was one of those experiences, so disappointing that it compelled me to write a review to help others avoid a contract that bills you no matter how dissatisfied ( and believe me I was misled in many ways...I'll explain here.) you are.

Firstly their support team is nice, friendly etc. Rachel was my point person, then Marcela. Helpful, on time with meetings and the like.

HERE"S WHAT I CAN'T BELIEVE.

1. After months of working with Emotive come to learn that they had omitted ALL Carrier fees and Taxes from my reporting which made my ROI look good when it was garbage.

2. After confronting them with this, they said they were aware of the issue and were going to " improve " their reporting to accurately account for all costs. To little too late.

3. After explaining to them I wished to not use their SMS services because of the bad reporting.

4. Nope. For the privilege for NOT using ANY SMS or any services from Emotive I get to be billed $$$1350.00 per Month for 6 months approx. Till their Iron Clad Contract Releases Me.

Easy to use

Easy to use. It has an extremely intuitive interface as well as an accessible customer service team. It's a strong revenue-driving channel for our business. Conversational Messaging by Emotive is the BEST!

Emotive consistently generates a 35X ROI each and every month for my clients. Some of my clients see even greater ROI, and it all has to do with conversational messaging which allows shoppers to interact and speak to a real person via SMS.

A lot of SMS services allow for broadcast messaging (a la email blasts), but Emotive's approach is a bit different which allows for your shoppers to actually respond to any message you send. This generates a new level of engagement and gives your brand a chance to make a happy customer, each and every time.

The best thing about it is the pricing. Yes, there are other services out there, but Emotive's pricing is so good that I recommend it every time over any of their competitors.

It was great working with Emotive

It was great working with Emotive. 10/10 for their sales pitch, and 10/10 for their customer support. I've worked with competitor SMS marketing software before but no one can beat Emotive's customer support experience. Overall when it comes to numbers, our SMS marketing has been the big thing for us in 2024, and Emotive's popup and pixel surely helped a great deal in that.

Emotive is a sneaky and deceptive…

Emotive is a sneaky and deceptive company with hidden fees. They continue to charge your credit card even after you've canceled, often at random times of the month without any notification. Do not sign up with this company. The 5-star reviews are from new customers who agreed to accept a $100 gift card from them. Trust me THEY WILL CREATE A FAKE DOCUMENT AND SWEAR THAT YOU AGREED AND SIGNED IT. Save yourself from a nightmare experience and steer clear of them at all costs.
