I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with ECCITS Degree Evaluation has been deeply disappointing.
After submitting my documents and payment, I expected at least basic communication or status updates. Instead, I received complete silence.
Only after i reached out on Feb 9 for application submitted on 23 Jan the order status only said "Reviewing" no idea what it means and its clearly stated no updates will be given at this point.
No one knows whether university has been reached out ?
There is no clear timeline, no proactive updates, and no way to understand what stage your evaluation is in. Emails go unanswered for days (sometimes not at all), and there is no transparency about the process, requirements, or delays. For a service that handles important academic and immigration-related evaluations, this level of unresponsiveness is unacceptable.
What makes it worse is that once they have your payment, you’re essentially left in the dark. You’re forced to chase them repeatedly, with no clarity on when—or if—you’ll get your evaluation.
Overall, I cannot recommend ECCITS. If you value communication, professionalism, and transparency, you may want to consider other evaluation services.
Better book a Home office approved SELT test rather than this
£250 for sending an email, what a joke.

My application (Ecctis reference: 4002436236) was marked as “Unable to Verify” even though my university responded to Ecctis’ third-party verification request before the verification deadline.
Despite confirming that institutional responses may take additional time to authenticate, my application status was still automatically changed the following day. Applicants have no visibility into third-party verification communication yet are disadvantaged even when institutions reply within the required timeframe.
This lack of transparency and coordination caused unnecessary stress for an application linked to immigration requirements.

This process borders on institutionalised malpractice. I applied for verification of my academic qualification and medium of instruction, only to discover that ECCTIS charges an exorbitant fee for little more than sending a single email to a college.
After dispatching that email, they make no meaningful attempt to follow up or pursue alternative channels of verification. Instead, they wait for twenty days and then declare the verification unsuccessful. Any organisation familiar with academic administration would know that colleges do not prioritise unsolicited verification requests and often require multiple reminders or alternative points of contact. ECCTIS makes no such effort.
When challenged, they respond not with accountability but by citing their terms and conditions. If their remit is to verify academic credentials, that responsibility should be discharged with due diligence and persistence. What is actually provided, however, is a superficial, box-ticking exercise that amounts to charging a substantial fee for sending an email and waiting for it to be ignored.
Following their failure, I was compelled to take an English language test and proceed with the application independently, something I should have done in the first place, thereby saving considerable time, money, and effort. Based on this experience, I would strongly advise others to opt for an English language test if they value their time and finances.

Its fraud insituition, just made to milk money. They are a SCAM! They arent transparent and despite repeated attempts to show proof that they have contacted my university, they didnt. My university told me that they have been proactively looking at all the emails, but never received a single communicaiton from ECCTIS. If you dig closer on other forums, you will know that this sort of behavior is quite common with ECCTIS, when they get backed up, they dont contact university and wait for 20 days to close the applicaiton. Thats what happened to me despite having ALL required documents.

Great feedback through the process and timely response to decisions as scheduled.

It’s SLA (Service Level Agreement) is 20 working days to validate my university degree to match the standard of required English proficiency. And within the process, there was follow-up message every 5 working days to inform the progress. At the end I expected sort of certification but was informed to scan the given result (I think to print in pdf or make a screenshot).

My experience was very positive. The agents were very friendly and responsive and explained issues where they arose (after calling) and also the time it took to move to the next step after fulfilling the requirements for the previous step was not bad at all. Overall, I was satisfied with the process and the interface of the website and friendliness of the staff who didn’t make it more nerve wracking than it already was.

The response time was excellent. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow.

The process with Ecctis took nearly two months, mainly due to delays with my university verification. Despite this, I had a positive overall experience. Customer support was helpful whenever I contacted them, and my final result was accepted without any issues. The application system is straightforward, and although the timeline could be improved, the service itself was reliable in the end.

I paid for Ecctis qualification verification, and the experience has been extremely frustrating, inefficient, and stressful.
Ecctis claims they contacted my university (German University in Cairo – GUC) for verification on 17 December 2025. However, the university confirmed very clearly that they never received any email from Ecctis.
The GUC Graduation Office also stated that they have received multiple similar complaints from other students over the past year, with no record of any verification emails ever reaching the university. This strongly suggests that Ecctis may be using an incorrect or non-existent email address.
Ecctis refused to disclose:
Which email address they attempted to contact
How the verification request was sent
How applicants can verify that contact was actually made
Despite this lack of transparency, my application was later closed and marked as “Unable to Verify”, even though the university had never been reached.
Following guidance from Ecctis customer support, the university proactively sent a verification email from an official GUC address on 14 January 2026.
I then had to wait three working days just to receive confirmation that the email was received. On 20 January, an Ecctis representative confirmed in writing that:
The university email was received
It was forwarded to the Verification Team
After the stated 5 working day timeframe passed with no update, I followed up again. On 23 January, I received a response stating that the email may not have been received at all, directly contradicting earlier written confirmations.
I contacted the Ecctis UK support hotline multiple times. Another agent reconfirmed that the email had been received and forwarded, adding yet another contradictory statement.
Eventually, I was told that the Verification Team had reviewed the email but raised concerns about the sender email address and decided to conduct further internal investigations — despite:
The email being sent from an official university address
Ecctis refusing to disclose which email address they have “on record”
Me explicitly informing them that their registered address does not reach the university
Ecctis has refused to clarify:
What this investigation involves
How long it will take
Whether the university will be contacted again
What action is required to resolve the issue
As of 27 January 2026, nearly six weeks after applying, there has been no meaningful progress — only contradictory information and vague explanations.
The process has effectively become a closed loop: Ecctis states the university did not reply; the university confirms it never received any request. Ecctis refuses to disclose the email used, and when verification is sent from an official address, it is rejected for not matching undisclosed internal records — leaving the applicant stuck indefinitely.
This process lacks transparency, accountability, and consistency, which is unacceptable for a paid service that many applicants rely on for time-critical visa applications.
Based on my experience, I strongly advise anyone considering Ecctis to be extremely cautious, especially if timelines matter.

Very good customer service, with one of the representatives Christian, being very friendly and helpful. He understood my situation with patience and provided a clear path going forward in order for me to apply.

Application 4002407362 was cancelled as "Unable to Verify" however I had throughout the process been in contact with the institution - Georg-August University Goettingen in Germany - who very firmly and adamantly confirmed they were *not* contacted by ECCTIS.
This check is a service that I have paid for - however I have not had any visibility from my end to see who ECCTIS have contacted and how the checks proceeded. I have no actual proof that ECCTIS contacted the correct University, used a viable email address or even fulfilled their role at all - a service that I paid £285 for!
This has been a very disappointing, frustrating and financially distressing experience. Please think twice before using.

I understand that the UK government outsources qualification verification services to third-party organisations such as Ecctis. However, my experience raised concerns regarding transparency, communication, and overall process clarity.
I applied for the Qualification Language Service (English Proficiency and Qualification Comparison) on 20 November (Application No: 4002422362). Throughout the application period, the status remained “Under Review” with no detailed updates or indication of progress.
Attempts to seek clarification were unsuccessful. The chatbot only provided generic information, and the listed contact number redirected callers to check the website before disconnecting. As a result, there was no effective way to obtain case-specific information or support.
After paying a fee of £252, applicants are required to wait without visibility into key steps of the verification process. There was no information provided regarding which institution was contacted, when contact was made, or whether any follow-ups occurred. You may be contacting wrong university contacts?
After 20 working days, my application was closed and marked as cancelled due to the university not responding. While I understand that universities may take time to respond, especially when responding without charge, the absence of transparency and communication from Ecctis made it difficult to assess whether reasonable efforts were made.
Given the level of fees charged, clearer communication, better status updates, and greater transparency around verification attempts would significantly improve the customer experience. Overall, the process felt unclear and lacked sufficient accountability.
Wish I would have not blindly trusted as UK companies instead I would have read the reviews from trustpilot I would have never applied for this service.

I am writing to express my frustration regarding the delay in processing my application.
I submitted my application on 18 November. An email was sent to my institution on 28 November, and my institution responded on 11 December. As of today, it has been 20 working days, yet I have not received any response or update. My application status still shows “Reviewing
I am very concerned because Tuesday marks the end of the stated 20 working days, and I do not know what will happen next. I am worried about my status changing to unable to verify, as I urgently need this process completed in order to apply for my visa.
Due to the lack of response, I contacted my institution again and requested that they resend their positive Response , which they did on 19 December. Unfortunately, I still have not received any acknowledgment or update from Ecctis
I have called and used the live chat several times, but I have not received any positive or clear response about what is going on with my application. At this point, I am very frustrated.
Please let me know if any further action is required from my side.

We have to pay the fees around £250 and then we have to apply to our university (whose contact details and credibility is just a Google search away) for statement of completion certificate (paying another fees to the university) even after submitting our valid degree certificate and medium of instruction certificate with university letter head (online one they won't accept). After all these we must follow up with the university and make them send email to this ECCTIS organisation, wow! And there is no way to contact them immediately, there is something called live chat, which is not actually live but some set of questions and answers for just those questions.
And the most interesting part is, that they can give different grades to people who studied same course from same university wonderful!!

Hello. The QR code for live capture expired when I clicked on it. Could you send me a new link by email please? Thank you.
httpsportal.enic.org.ukmessages13420526
Thank you for your messages advising that the QR code link says it has expired when you click on it.
This is usually a result of the webpage being left open for too long. Please go back to ‘My Account’ and refresh the webpage. After doing this, please select the “Identity Check” button. You should then be able to scan the QR code image with a mobile device to begin the identity check journey. If you do not have access to a smartphone, or are using a smartphone to make the application, please select the blue ‘I do not have access to a mobile device with a camera’ button. You will then need to scan or upload a photograph of a current form of identification such as a passport or driving license. Once this has been added please take a photograph of yourself as the qualification holder to submit the identity check.
When this has been completed and submitted, please check the “Order Status” section of your online account regularly for any updates on the status of your order, and notification of any action required by you. If this is still not working, please also try the following before contacting us again:
• Logging out and then back into your user portal.
• Clicking on the Identity check button/icon (on the bottom right)
• Clearing the Cashe/cookies from your browser
• Use an alternative browser
• Use an alternative device (PC/Laptop/Tablet/Mobile Phone, etc…)
If you are still having issues or have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your reply. I tried your solutions but the QR code link still says it is expired. Please advise how I can proceed with the identity check.
httpsportal.enic.org.ukmessages13426926
Thank you for your message. If the QR code will still not work, there is a button below it you can push that says "I do not have access to a mobile device with a camera". This will allow you to proceed with the ID check. I hope this information is of assistance to you. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
httpsportal.enic.org.ukmessages13426926
I tried your advice and called the hotline to ask for help, but the identification verification still did not go through. It is very upsetting that the advisor on the phone failed to provide any workable solution and just asked me to apply for a refund. The app for ordering Life in UK Test works perfectly, but your QR code and browser link do not. Since the IT issues are not resolved, does ENIC have an office where I can take my passport to show your staff for verification? I hope to hear of a resolution to the ID verification IT hiccup instead of blaming the service user. I paid 250 pounds for a service which never happened and I believe I deserve a reasonable explanation. All correspondence in this Messages portal will go on Trustpilot reviews.
