I would like to warn investors from…
I would like to warn investors from Greece about a serious issue regarding US dividend taxation when using DEGIRO.
The United States and Greece have a tax treaty that reduces the withholding tax on US dividends to 15%. However, DEGIRO applies the full 30% withholding tax for Greek investors, even if the W-8BEN form is correctly submitted.
This means Greek investors may lose an additional 15% of their dividend income unless they go through a complex tax reclaim process.
Many international brokers apply the treaty rate directly at source, so this situation can be surprising for new investors.
The platform itself is easy to use and has low trading fees, but this taxation policy is something Greek investors should be aware of before opening an account.
I hope DEGIRO will improve this in the future and offer proper treaty-rate withholding like other global brokers.

Thank you for your reply.
However, I would appreciate a clearer answer on whether DEGIRO plans to apply the correct 15% US withholding tax rate at source for Greek investors, as provided by the US–Greece tax treaty.
Currently, applying the full 30% creates a significant disadvantage for dividend investors compared to other international brokers who apply the treaty rate automatically.
This is not just an inconvenience, but a material issue affecting long-term returns.
I hope DEGIRO can provide more transparency on this matter and clarify whether any improvement is planned.

A great choice BUT
The platform offers great protection for long term holders of stocks/ETF's & has great customer support but for some clients in the EU, it does not provide the same range of products as IBKR (example is access to QQQ). Further, it autofx'es your investment at purchase and selling, meaning if you buy USA assets, you are also long the USD, no separate USD account. It also does not pay you interest on uninvested capital & bumped up its fees the last few years meaning day trading is not worth when all is said & done. It was the clear choice in 2022, in 2026 its top 5, a great product when all is said & done.

More account performance tracking please
Very happy with Degiro, but i would like to have more ways to track how my account is doing than just the total return (realised and unrealised). For example, I would like to be able to track my returns in specific periods and also have percentage returns. Nonetheless great broker.
