KIA NEWTOWN

JT HUGHES NEWTOWN, KIA DEALER - DO NOT TRUST THIS NEGLIGENT DEALERSHIP WITH ANY SECOND HAND CAR PURCHASE!!

I bought a Kia Rio for my 17yr old son, who had recently passed his test. The car was purchased via distance selling, never seen or test driven because it was so far from where I live, however I wanted to buy a Kia due to their alleged safety record and 7 yr warranty. The dealer gave assurance that the vehicle was completely sound. I trusted them completely.

Just 2 months after purchase, my son was driving along a busy A road when the car came to an emergency stop by itself for no reason!! He was hit in the rear by a huge Arctic Lorry! I thank God that he was not on the motorway yet (where he would have been just a few mins later, driving at 70mph) as he would likely be dead now!!

I was forced to pay my local Kia dealership £132 for a diagnostic to establish the fault with the front sensor, they didn't find anything wrong with it the first time but after much pressure, a few weeks later they agreed to take a thorough look and actually take the bumper off to check the sensor properly (why they didn't take the bumper off the first time when I paid for a diagnostic, I don't know!!)

They found that the sensor was 4mm out of range (range being between 0 and -4) so they realigned it to 1.8 to bring it well within range.

Within a few weeks, the front collision warning light came on again! I took the car straight back to Kia who told me the sensor was still at 1.8 so no idea why the light was on. They said they would realign it to as close to 0 as possible.

This was not good enough. Having already had the emergency brake system activate previously causing a near death experience, and the warning light come on again. despite the sensor not moving from the realigned 1.8 range, i requested the sensor be replaced under warranty.

Kia refused! They refuse to accept there is anything wrong with the sensor, yet cannot tell me why the light is coming on if it is not faulty. They will not replace it!

They are playing with my son's life, for the sake of a part, because they don't want to cover the cost of replacing it under warranty.

Kia Newtown sold this car to me with a dangerous and faulty sensor.
In addition to the front sensor issue, during the service carried out 4 months after purchase, the car was found to have various other faults coming to over £1700 worth of repairs! All of these issues were later evidenced to be present during the diagnostic I paid for after just 2 months of ownership.

1) The Battery has failed!! = £150.60
2) Front brake pads are 90% worn (I emailed about the brakes being a concerned the day we received the car and was told they will just be wet!!! I stupidly trusted the dealer) = £186.60
3) Front brake discs corroded and lipped = £247.80
4) The spare wheel canister has expired!!!! = £65
5) NSF Mandatory light is inoperable = £47.59
6) Lip on rear discs = £403.20
7) Air con service due = £225
8) pollen filter cover broken = £67.12
9) BOTH front tires are worn beyond accepted levels = £334.84

Bear in mind my son has a black box (permanently fixed near the engine) and has to drive like a saint, with no harsh braking or sharp corners. He also mainly does motorway driving to and from college, so this is NOT down to wear and tear and all had been picked up after just 2 months ownership. He had driven 3,000 miles. Industry standard says it is reasonable to expect to be able to drive a newly purchased second hand 3yr old car for an additional 20-40,000 miles before I have to start considering replacing brake discs, pads, battery & tyres. These were clearly present prior to purchase and should have been replaced before the car was sold!!

It is my experience that this dealer scrimps on safety measures in favour of profit. This has put my son's life at risk. It is worthy of note that Kia HQ have wiped their hands of it too, passing me back to the dealer!

Please do not risk your own safety and certainly not the safety of your child, by buying a car from this dealer.

Flear and Thomson, Kia dealership, Pittencrieff Street, Dunfermline.

This review is for Flear and Thomson, Kia dealership in Dunfermline. Thank you for the presentation, Scott, happy with your level of detail, the descriptions, and most important of all, your honesty. I've been driving a short while with it now, very satisfied with the driving experience, and how it handles about town. I'm still getting to grips with all the tech gizmos, but referring to the handbook gets me where I need to be, eventually. I'm filling it with premium unleaded as its better for the engine and for MPG. Very happy to report that it was a pleasure to do business with this dealership, no hard sales, no hidden extras, relaxed atmosphere, could have walked away at any time. Highly recommended.

I honestly have no idea what's wrong…

I honestly have no idea what's wrong with sales clerks. I walked in to see a guy just playing on his phone, I step up to him after looking around and ask for assistance (he didn't look too bothered), I told him I was looking for a new car, that I would like a 7 seater, and he responded with (whilst still staring at his phone), "yeah well, I've got a Peugeot".
Considering I've already looked online at what was available, also knowing there was an EV9 sitting in his show room that I was just looking at, I asked "and want about the EV9?", to which he responded "oh yeah, I suppose, depends if you can afford it monthly".
This was aggravating as I was already prejudged, I told him my options whilst not informing him what I had in my bank to which he said "yeah you can't afford it".
So I went across the road and purchased a brand new Hyundai Sante Fe plug-in hybrid. He obviously didn't want my money.

KIA Pentagon Sheffield service department's poor service.

KIA Pentagon Sheffield service department I've attempted calling. The call times out after being shunted around asking the caller to leave a message and contact number. But even then that's no good if they don't bother to call you back. I bet that the sales departments phone number gets answered in seconds though.

Phoned Stoke KIA for MOT price. Receptionist could not tell me. why not? a paper price list is all that`s needed!. Tried to put me through to service desk no pickup, a message left to call me back more than 2 hours ago still no call back. This is the dealer I have used for all services so far on my KIA. They go out of their way to make it clear to any one visiting their website how many times they have won awards for best customer service !!. Am I being to pedantic to expect the same service they proclaim to follow. I`ll now look for another MOT service station. Now almost 16:00hrs still no call back.

Seriously lacking in customer service

I called by earlier this week as I want a Kia. I walked in...2 staff at desk by the entrance..no one said hello or acknowledged me. I walked towards a Sportage in the showroom..eventually a male voice shouted..can I help you? I looked around but couldn't see anyone then he came out from his glassed panelled office. Communication skills of a gnat. Rudely questioned whether I, a mature woman, had written the description of my vehicle that i had carefully prepared! "Did you write this?" Following more unhelpful exchanges i left. I thought about reporting to the MD but then discovered he was a Director! No point! Today i went to the nearby Toyota garage...such a positive, polite and very helpful man with excellent communication skills backed up by friendly female receptionist and very helpful Manager...chalk and cheese comes to mind! Kia...you have a lot to learn!

Kia ev9 update has ruined the car!
Reverse cameras and parking sensors not working since the update.
Numerous threads on social media for the past 2 weeks but the dealerships are still acting like they’ve never heard about it!
Earliest appointment for it to be seen is September… pathetic!

Your time is worthless to rhem

Car booked in with over three months notice for a service and MOT on a "while you wait" basis. Arrived early with the car (approx 20 minutes) to avoid any delays or missing my slot.
Slightly surprised to be told that the wait would be three hours.
Over an hour later, the car has not been moved - which maybe explains why three hours is required.
Sat in the waiting room - the only one there. Others might have left their cars and be entertaining themselves elsewhere, but a complete lack of respect for my time.
I don't mind waiting, and appreciate that a diligent service takes time. I find it frustrating to be waiting an hour longer than necessary because no one has made a start despite three months notice, and seemingly prioritising other cars with no sign of a waiting owner, whilst I am left to fill three hours in a waiting room.
Note, this relates to Kia Triangle, Chesterfield

Bad and Good KIA agents

I am only talking about 2 contrasting KIA dealers.

1 NO STARS!!!! is Kia Group 1 Maidstone Kent - where car was purchased.
--------------------------------------------------------------
a) Incompetent engineers. Car broke down multiple times in he year post purchase. We had to arrange AA to deliver on most occasions.
Two new batteries fitted .. no permanent improvement. Kept requiring to recharge12V
Fault repeated constantly - same result. Totally unreliable vehicle...and agent
Aftersales Manager qualities: Ignorant re EV's and electrical principles generally, initially smarmy then arrogant, aggressive and refused to honour KIA 7 year warranties. Reception staff nice but squashed. Elaborate contact system often failing.

2 FIVE STARS
----------------------------------------------------
Kia JCB at Northfleet - where I have just had a repair done. The Charging door would not open.
Drove there & explained. Taken into workshop within 15 minutes. Door opened and fault diagnosed - repair date set - reminder day before - polite reception - phone call 5 hours later to collect. Went to pay.... No Charge ... warranty item.

Who would you choose?

This is the second time I have been to…

This is the second time I have been to the service department at Bolton Kia and things haven’t improved. Staff are disinterested and behave as though they’re doing you a favour. On both occasions their IT systems have been down and they couldn’t locate my vehicle. Waiting times (three weeks or more) for serious issues are unacceptable and when challenged staff repeat the mantra “you’re not listening to me” FYI, I am not prepared to accept what you are telling me!!!
When I returned home I contacted Perry’s Kia at Preston, the reception desk said they would get someone to return my call and within 30minutes I was contacted. Staff were friendly, professional and effective.
Bolton Kia needs to watch, listen and learn.

Kia Cambridge (EMG) - Poor communication and knoweldge

Kia Cambridge (EMG) have ensured I will never purchase a Kia car again. From giving inaccurate information at the point of sale, ignoring requests for information, to losing the locking wheel nut from my old car, they showed how poor their customer service was. It became very clear that they were only interested in their own needs.

Peter Deanes at Kia Brayleys branch

Peter Deanes at Kia Brayleys branch.

We had a fantastic experience with our car salesman from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel completely welcome and immediately put us at ease. What stood out right away was how he asked how we preferred to approach things—whether we wanted to browse on our own or talk through options—which made the whole process feel relaxed and tailored to us.

He took the time to sit down with us and really understand what we were looking for: our budget, finance options, and the type of car we wanted. He clearly explained what vehicles were available both in the branch and online, giving us plenty of choice without ever feeling overwhelming.

When we viewed a car in the showroom, he gave us space to look around at our own pace, which we really appreciated. Afterwards, he checked in to see what we thought and offered to show us other options online, carefully explaining the pros and cons of each compared to the one we’d seen.

The test drive was another highlight—especially as it was my first time driving an automatic. He made the whole experience feel calm and enjoyable, clearly explaining how everything worked and making sure I felt comfortable and confident behind the wheel.

Once we decided on the car, he remained attentive and personable throughout. He kept everything moving while allowing us time to walk around and think things over, and even offered tea and coffee, which was a nice touch. He also asked us to inspect the car carefully and point out any marks or issues so they could do their best to address them before collection, which showed great attention to detail and customer care.

Communication since then has been excellent—he’s kept us informed about what’s happening ahead of pick-up without ever being pushy or overbearing.

Overall, a genuinely positive experience. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional throughout, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone. We’ll definitely be hoping he’s still there when it’s time for our next car!

Collected my brand new Kia in March; had it for a week when a red light came on, so took it in to be looked at. It is now 9th June, 3 months, and it's still not repaired.
I am disgusted at the lack of care for customers, and they have offered me a dash cam for the inconvenience.
Its a shoody company and I warn any one do not Purchase a Kia if you want to enjoy your new car my new purchase will be old by the time I get it and ive had enough I want it refunded but to no avail.

Kia Salisbury

I've bought my first Kia car in my live and when it was time for the 2nd manufacturer scheduled service. I went to the nearest dealer in Salisbury. My wife during car collection after service had to pay more than price quoted a day earlier during car drop off -for additional position on my invoice job NOT requested by me (car dealer can not charge you more for manufacturer scheduled service) I had to make a four phone calls to receive money refund. I found the customer service to be unhelpful and unresponsive. Instead of topping up a screen wash was water with extra charge. Finally I want to warn a further customers to check their invoices for overcharging during a final payment because they don't care about their customers if you come back or not- definitely not me.

In-car update notification problem

Firstly, I like Kia cars (I currently have my 4th). With the demise of their Rio model I now have a Stonic. This is the 1st of the 4 to receive update notifications direct to the vehicle. And therein lies the problem. I read the 1st - it took over 30 minutes, which required the car idling for that period (bad for the environment and my fuel consumption) plus I couldn't absorb that amount of information. Lately I've received another 2 or 3 (wasn't keeping a count). In each of these instances I've found it impossible to get out as 1 or more buttons wouldn't recognise my response. In desperation I even tried the "Disagree" button, which put me on a screen informing me that if I progressed the disagreement all my settings would be reset! Why can't Kia offer the option of in-car or email notifications?
