  1. Home Builder

Written by the company

Davidson Homes is one of the fastest-growing homebuilders in the country. What started as a one-man operation in Huntsville, Alabama in 2009 is now a company building homes across six states — Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, and Arizona — with 105 active communities and nearly 10,000 homeowners who call a Davidson home their own. In 2026, we ranked #43 on the Builder 100, up from #46 in 2025 and #60 in 2024. Three years, three consecutive jumps. That kind of momentum doesn’t happen by accident — it’s the result of building the right team, choosing the right markets, and staying focused on what matters: the people buying our homes. How We Started In 2009, Adam Davidson was 24 years old. He had a business degree from UNC Charlotte, two years of experience as a superintendent for a public homebuilder in Gulfport, Mississippi, and a firm belief that he was ready to build something of his own. He relocated to Huntsville and started Davidson Homes from scratch. The timing was rough — 2009 was the tail end of the housing market collapse, one of the worst periods for homebuilding in decades. Adam started anyway and spent the first three years not just running the company but physically helping build the homes himself. His first sale came that year. By 2011, Davidson Homes developed its first community in Priceville, Alabama. By the end of 2012, the company had closed 39 homes — enough to bring on its first superintendent and first sales agent. That was the beginning of a team that would eventually become one of the more recognized names in homebuilding across the South and Southwest. How We’ve Grown As Davidson Homes gained traction in North Alabama, the focus turned to growth. Each new market was chosen deliberately, and the expansion has continued ever since: 2009 — Founded in Huntsville, AL 2017 — Nashville, TN 2018 — Raleigh, NC 2020 — Atlanta, GA 2021 — Houston, TX 2023 — San Antonio, TX 2024 — Dallas, TX 2025 — Charlotte, NC 2025 — Prescott, AZ Over the past several years, Davidson Homes has invested heavily in making the process of buying a home feel as good as the home itself. That means consistent, well-trained teams in every market, model homes and sales offices that reflect the quality of what we build, and a buying experience that’s transparent and personal — not transactional. We also offer an integrated homebuying experience through Davidson Homes Mortgage, giving buyers access to financing support under the same roof. From your first visit to a community to the day you get your keys, the goal is the same: make sure you feel taken care of every step of the way. Davidson Homes has been certified as a Great Place to Work® for 2024 and 2025. In our most recent survey, 90% of employees said Davidson Homes is a great place to work, compared to 57% at a typical U.S. company. That recognition matters to us — not because of the credential, but because of what it reflects. We’ve built a culture where people are given real responsibility, real opportunity to grow, and a genuine stake in where the company is going. Adam has said it plainly: the most important thing he’s built isn’t a home; it’s the team around him. Davidson Homes looks for people who want to win, who work hard, and who want to be part of something that’s still in the process of becoming what it’s going to be. We’re protective of that culture — and we think it shows. We’re big enough to have the systems, resources, and reach of a national builder, but entrepreneurial enough to move quickly and make decisions that make sense for each market we’re in. Going from #60 to #46 to #43 on the Builder 100 in three consecutive years says something. But it’s worth being clear about what it says: not that we’ve arrived somewhere, but that we’re pointed in the right direction and picking up speed. Davidson Homes will keep expanding into markets where people want to live. Places with job growth, opportunity, and communities worth being part of. The strategy that’s worked since 2009 hasn’t changed: find the right land, build the right homes, put the right people in place, and take care of the customer. That’s what got us here. And it’s what’s going to keep us climbing.

Nothing but problems with these BRAND…

Nothing but problems with these BRAND NEW homes from nearly every neighbor. Plumbing is the main thing and everyone knows water is the worst issue you can possibly have! Furnace quit the other day and left without heat for a week in early March, had water leaking behind the stucco and into my kitchen rom the outdoor spigot 2 day later. I could go on with a half dozen other issues.... beware and get pre & post move in inspections. We're at the 10 month point and the "final inspection" to address any remaining issues and I'm not ready to sign off. Just waiting for what's next.....

We went to look at their model homes in…

We went to look at their model homes in Prescott, Arizona on June 15, 2025. This location is near the airport off Highway 89. The open home we walked into was filthy with no one there to talk to. The counter had a collection of papers and flyers but none matched the model. Very bad feeling about the place so we left.

corporate sellouts

Due to so few options, we investigated Davidson townhomes in Hartselle, AL while helping my recently widowed mother find a suitable home at a reasonable price. The first ones built were marketed at $239,900. When we inquired at this early stage we were told price was non-negotiable. A couple of weeks ago we saw an advertised price drop to $219,900. We took a look again and found this reduced price was only on a few units in a less desirable location. All other units now $229,900 even as there were 6 or 7 of those unsold. Still told these were non-negotiable. One week later on October 11, Davidson advertised a price drop to $219,900 on all available units. We took my mother to view on Sunday October 13 and were told by Davidson's onsite representative all units sold that morning minus the one unit in the most undesirable location. We weren't born yesterday and knew this was most likely an investment company deal. We commented that it doesn't sound like they were bought by individuals but an investment company. He unapologetically responded, "Well when they pay full price and buy so many". I'm not sure if his arrogant defensive attitude was due to a tinge of guilt (I highly doubt it) or he was just mad at being called out on such an underhanded practice to the frustrated consumer. To the arrogant young man at Davidson homes......The investment company did not pay full price, that would have been $239,900. They paid a discounted price of $219,900 (I suspect less) that we would have been able and willing to pay had we been given a chance. Buyers beware when buying from these types of companies, a large part of your neighborhood might be rentals owned by large investment companies. These transactions are destroying the single family housing market and making investment companies so....rich. Its very hard for us as consumers to compete with these money hungry machines. After more research and reading many bad reviews, I choose to trust God was protecting my mother from a bad decision. The search continues in one of the few remaining Caveat Emptor (buyer beware) states. A great state for the unconscientious mass producers to do business.
