You get what you pay for

You get what you pay for! I fully endorse everything positive that has been said here before. My local TechFix shop couldn't handle my problem but one thing they did do is gave me the contact details for Data Clinic. For anyone who might be a bit IT illiterate and/or online nervous (i.e. me), and worried about entrusting their precious files to an unseen third party, don't be. Put all your concerns and worries behind you and really, really put your trust in Data Clinic. From first contact to the final sign-off, Data Clinic gave me complete assurance that they could retrieve the locked-in data/files in my "dead" laptop. Especial thanks to Mohammad for his patient explanations and quiet courtesy during the process. I strongly recommend this service for their expertise and efficiency alone.

Totally Recommend

My data storage 'Passport' stopped working. Thought I was doing right thing by saving EVERYTHING. No techi friends or youngsters could help. Mark at Data Clinic to the rescue - what a service. So reassuring but professional and knowledgeable at every stage, everything explained including any eventualities. Thankfully they were able to restore my life - really that is how it felt. Expensive (in my world) but soooo worth it. Thank you Data Clinic cannot recommend highly enough.

Panic, I thought I had lost everything

I was in the process of downloading some images to a portable hard rive, prior to editing. The hard drive stopped responding. The light was on but nobody was in. I panicked thinking that I had lost the many images that were on the hard drive. I contacted Data Clinic and they asked me to send them the hard drive, they worked there magic and recovered everything. The answer is don't panic contact Data Clinic. An excellent result from and excellent company who also kept me informed throughout the process. Yes I had to pay for the service but it was well worth it. I would strongly recommend Data Clinic to all.

Fantastic service

Fantastic service! I sent in a request after missing over 10,000 very important files on an old hard drive. I was called quickly and given advice from the Data Clinic team which allowed me to very effectively fix the issue I had without any further or in-depth help needed. I received another call from a different member of staff to follow up on my issue and he was very pleased to hear that it had been resolved. I certainly recommend using Data Clinic, they have a wealth of knowledge and are willing to go above and beyond to help resolve your issues.

Recovered Data from our bricked iPhone

My wife's iPhone's screen became unresponsive, but the phone was still operable (through car play using my car's display). However, after following Apple's advice of updating the ios version (through my laptop), the phone was bricked - I had a white screen and no way of accessing it. For some reason our automatic backup of photos to the cloud had stopped in May and we had some very significant photos in June / July that we didn't want to lose. After loads of research online and speaking to Apple, who told us it was unrecoverable and that a reset was our only option (losing the data), I got in touch with Data Clinic. Their pricing was very clear (£195 up front, but that included a Level 1 recovery attempt). It was really clear that if they had to go further, there were further costs. They were also very clear that it could take between 5 and 20 days to complete. 3 days after I left my phone with them, they got in touch to say they were finished and had recovered our data. All I had to pay in addition was the cost of the 1Tb storage device they had put the data on. These guys aren't just recovering data, they're preserving family memories - with any technology, there's never a 100% guarantee that they will be able to help, but I'm pretty sure that if it can be done, they'll be able to do it. Would definitely use again (although hoping not to need to!)

100% recommend

I lost a years worth of photos on my phone through a fault and data clinic were successful in retrieving everything. They were extremely professional, provided excellent customer service - in particular Michelle who was very understanding and empathetic & Mohammed who was rapid in responding to emails.

Very upfront regarding costs and percentage of success rates. They advised I may not get a working phone back, however it was delivered fully working with all data recovered back on my phone.

Would 100% recommend, not the cheapest but definitely the best!

Not the cheapest... definitely the best

Thoroughly professional and brilliant service.
My NAS device developed a fault and would not read the drives; danger of losing 25 years of music, films, photos, etc.
Dataclinic recovered all my data, and sent it back on a new hard drive.
Not the cheapest (and they don't claim to be), but not extortionate and definitely the best.
I hope never to have to use a data recovery service again... but if I do, I'll know exactly where to come.

Broken External Hard Drive

Broken External Hard Drive: We thought we had suddenly lost all of the data on an external Hard Drive we had used to back up a troublesome desktop pc which subsequently died. This data was mainly personal stuff such as cherished family photos and videos from the last 15 to 20 years or so, as well as some of my work data and other important documents for my partner's business.
All of the Data Clinic staff were helpful, polite and professional at all times without being pushy. Honesty about the proportion of data we could hope to recover and also around time taken and costings at every stage of the recovery process was very important to us. Each process stage was explained to us clearly and in a non-patronising way.
We ended up with a large majority of our data recovered (which I have already backed up!) which took some time and money. The work that has gone into this recovery, however, and the resultant recovery have been well worth both to us. Highly recommended. The Repair Shop of the digital world!

Successful recovery, honest service

Data Clinic were very transparent and informative about their process, costs and progress. I was super pleased they managed to recover 99% of my data from an inaccessible hard drive. Note that app data from phones (e.g. WhatsApp) doesn't seem to be included in phone recovery. However, since Data Clinic repaired my phone to do their recovery, I was able to recover my app data myself once my phone was returned. I'll definitely be using them again for any more data recovery 😊

Excellent, professional service

I recently had to use Data Clinic to recover data from an external hard drive that I dropped.

While they weren’t able to recover all of the data, they recovered most of for me which was brilliant given it held lots of old photos and music.

The process, communication and professionalism was excellent from start to finish and, while recovering such data isn’t cheap, it was so worth it in this instance.

Big thanks in particular to Mohammad who provided initial advice, Reece who recovered my data and Steven who communicated with me through the process. You’re all stars!

True to their word on recovering data from devices

I highly recommend Data Clinic if you need to recover data from a unaccessible portable hard drive. (Power to the device but nothing else)

Communication was clear and consistent throughout every stage of the recovery. The overall recovery was within a great time frame and all data was recovered to my delight 😁

Amazing Company

I can't thank these guys enough for the work they've done. My SSD wasn't running correctly and Apple unfortunately couldn't do anything so they advised me to seek out a data recovery specialist. I found these guys on Google so phoned them the next morning. Throughout the process I dealt with Steven who was very friendly and helpful. Luckily I live near one of their offices so I could drop my SSD off. These guys managed to diagnose the problem and extract 100% of my data from the failed SSD which they then put into a new external hard drive. Yes, it costs a lot of money but it's well worth it when your data you'd thought you'd lost is finally recovered. My panic is over thanks to these guys. I wouldn't hesitate to use these guys again and would advise anyone having any problems to definitely give these guys a call. They know what they're doing!

Fantastic service!…

I cannot thank Janice and the guys at Data Clinic enough. I only backed up on 1 drive so when it went down and I had lost very important data, I contacted them and with amazing expedience and ability they retrieved the data and got it back to to me in 3 days. They are friendly, curteous and helpful. Data retrieval is expensive but in this case it was essential and for me worthwhile. Good job, good service - recommended!

They do not do 'no data no charge', may milk you just as they did me, please learn from my mistake

They do not do 'no data - no charge', so they are milking whenever they want or too busy to charge and bump off.

Hence after I was charged by Data Clinic and returned no data but the iPhone apart and dismantled, Yes - they do not care to put things as they were sent to them neatly, I found the company that guarantees no charge if no work delivered.

For me it was the experience to learn do not trust before parting with the money unless they put the money where the money is - demand the guarantee or simply waste your money. But Data Clinic will bump you off if you demand a guarantee before payment.

Hopefully i helped despite the apparently numerous fake reviews, unless someone coming to them not having read the forums what they can do themselves. In my case the phone did not start up beyond an apple logo on iPhone, hence needed a data recovery centre help and any software access did work. I guess all Data Clinic do is rely on the software access tools and then DATA CLINIC IS NOT A DATA RECOVERY CENTRE full stop.

30/04/24 Comment after Data Clinic responded:
Pile of Rubbish Clinic in return for your Device Data:
are truly good at fantasising the responses, certainly they want to keep milking the public very much providing they are capable to come each time with some wild fantasy responses that would exonerate theirs name, by fluffing your ears.

Hi Jonas,

We’re a little bit confused by your review - as it appears that you were a customer over 2 years ago?! That does seem a long time to wait to express dissatisfaction and, unfortunately, you seem to have forgotten some salient points. For example your last email to us stated:

‘Hi, I am very appaled by the quality of your work and upon the delivery I found the phone is missing from the parcel box.'

Yet here you are in the photo on your Google review holding said phone and complaining that the phone that you didn’t receive had been dismantled?!

But, anyway, you’re absolutely right, we do not do ‘No Data - No Fee’ on mobile phone data recoveries. In fact, here is a section of the quotation that you were emailed stating:

“We will collect your mobile phone from a home or business address for free. The cost for a Level 1 recovery is £150+ VAT; this pays for a technician to identify the faults on your phone, identify if data recovery is possible, and if it is a straightforward data recovery, then this will be done now. You may be asked to pay for spare parts. If it isn't a simple recovery, then we will need to recover your data directly from the memory chip, this is a Level 2 recovery. This process costs a further £195+VAT. We will email you before we go ahead. If we are unsuccessful, then you don’t pay this second fee. Our recoveries are usually a 55:45 split between Level 1 and Level 2. In either case, we will need any security passcode that is operating on the phone. It is likely that you will not get back a working phone.’

So we do not promise anything, nor do we pull the fluff into our customers' ears.

Regards,

Chris

Failure to recover MacBook SSD: mistakes from start to finish

I sent in MacBook Pro with a faulty SSD. The day after I dropped off my laptop, I got an email from DataClinic asking if I was planning to drop off my laptop. Not a great start.

There were no proactive status updates for the month DataClinic had my laptop. I had to chase down them down for updates and got little more than "We're working on it. This is hard." They finally gave up after four weeks.

When DataClinic sent my laptop back, it was reassembled shoddily. The bottom panel isn't correctly fitted to the rest of the chassis. Some long screws were put in shallow holes, so they stick out.

The clearly poor quality of the things I can see — logistics, speed of work, customer responsiveness, laptop reassembly — makes me doubt the quality of the things I can't see — data recovery.

I ended up buying a new laptop because I couldn't continue to wait on them.

The second star is only because I didn't pay for anything beyond the original diagnostics.

Hi J,

I apologise for the poor service that you have received from us.

Firstly, there was a new member of staff at the Drop Off location that you used and that led to a delay in us receiving the laptop.

Secondly, the ‘long screw’ that you describe was actually the right screw but it had become threaded - it should have been removed and replaced with a new screw.

Thirdly, the technician working on your SSD has been with us for many years and is extremely good at his work, however, he dislikes getting a ‘non - recovery’ and should have called time on your SSD within our time guidelines.

Furthermore, all our staff have been reminded to update customers at least weekly.

We are committed to improving our service and the points that you have raised have been discussed with the staff involved to ensure that these errors are not repeated.
