Cycle Breaks has been organising self-guided cycling and walking holidays since 1991, from our base in Suffolk, England. Each holiday includes hand-picked hotels, daily luggage transfers and clear route notes or GPS navigation. Because no two tours suit every rider, we are very happy to work with you before booking to match your fitness and expectations to the right trip — and we'd rather not sell a holiday than sell you the wrong one. We look after all arrangements directly for our itineraries in England (Suffolk, Norfolk) and work with trusted local partners across Austria (The Austrian Lakes, The Danube, Mur River Valley), France (Alsace, The Dordogne, Languedoc, Loire Valley, Provence), Germany (Baltic Coast, Lake Constance, Moselle, Munich Lakes), Italy (Trentino/SudTirol, Piedmont, Puglia, Tuscany, Veneto), Portugal (Algarve, Alentejo) and Spain (Catalonia, Rioja, Valencia), plus Bike & Boat holidays in Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, Hungary and Italy. We welcome solo travellers, couples, families and groups, with e-bikes available in most areas.

As a one-stop shop for gentle cycling holidays in a pleasant part of the country, they are excellent. They do all the tedious bits of arranging accommodation, moving luggage, and providing breakdown assistance, while I just get to cycle quiet country lanes and enjoy local hostelries.
I've been doing Cycle Breaks holidays for 18 years now, so they must be doing something right.
Suffolk 7 night trip September 21
Thanks to the team for a superbly organised trip. We had a great week ( 2 hire bikes 2 own bikes) exploring the area of Suffolk around Ipswich, Southwold and Felixstowe. Distances of 20 to 35 miles were manageable, accommodation and food all excellent. Top notch low traffic routes, excellent route info and local knowledge made this a trip to remember ! Oh the 7 days sunshine helped too !
I discovered Cycle Breaks by googling 'Cycling holidays in Suffolk & Norfolk'. All my dealings with the company before the trip were very positive, and the staff were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic; they managed to create a holiday that included the destinations I wanted to visit and added extra days as requested. When my travel arrangements changed due to a train cancellation, I received a prompt reassuring message suggesting an alternative arrangement. The cycle routes were very well thought out, and each day there was a choice of at least two routes and sometimes three. The notes were very detailed, and included places to visit. The hotels were comfortable and friendly, and Cycle Breaks had booked an evening meal in advance, which was very welcome. This is my fifth cycling holiday and the Cycle Breaks one was definitely the best in terms of organisation and helpfulness.
Had an excellent cycling trip in Suffolk organised by Cycle Breaks. Their communication was excellent throughout and the route chosen was wonderful. Our accommodation was great. Would thoroughly recommend.
A September four day independent tour of Norfolk for two . Excellent provision of directions on gps with written instructions and quality maps provided as well.Trip notes suggesting interesting places to view en route and stops for provisions plus comfortable accommodation . A thoroughly enjoyable and hassle free holiday.
Everything was very well organised - route, accommodation, luggage transfers and suggested stops. Weather good too! On bike satnav well worth having and took us down traffic free lanes we would never have found.
The team at cycle breaks were great, very helpful and able to arrange our Norfolk tour at very short notice. Great accommodation, interesting cycle routes and lots of helpful information about the local areas such as tourist sites, historical buildings and places to eat and drink. The bikes were excellent and the transfers were first class…..the luggage always beat us to our destinations! Planning our next tour already!
We are not experienced cyclists (although we did quite a bit of biking during lockdown) and we have never done a cycling holiday before. We chose Cycle Breaks because the reviews were excellent and we liked the idea of a "gentle adventure"! We were not disappointed, the service from start to finish was excellent. Cycle Breaks have thought of everything you need to get you prepared and get you cycling. The bikes themselves are really good quality which makes the tour much more enjoyable. There is always a choice of routes that are easy to follow and with plenty of tips for things to see and do and good places to stop for well earned refreshments. We loved both the hotels we stayed in, they were clean, really comfortable and had excellent restaurants. The luggage transfers worked perfectly and it was good to be able to choose a return time that fitted in with our onward journey at the end of the tour. We would definitely recommend Cycle Breaks - we couldn't have asked for a more well organised holiday.
This was the first tour that my wife and I have done as she is new to cycle touring. The routes around Suffolk were well thought out with the option of shorter or longer routes depending on your pace. The time and distance allowed us to slow down the tempo and appreciate the countryside, quaint villages,it gave us time to relax and unwind. The accommodation was very good and the table reservation made by Cycle Breaks was a really nice touch as the pub/hotel food was very good. I would recommend Cycle Breaks to anyone new to Cycle Touring or just wanting to do something different for a few days as the pace was relaxed, it was well organised, and there were places to visit along way.
Our trip with Cycle Breaks far exceeded our expectations. We loved the quiet backroads, the lunch stop suggestions and the hand picked hotels. We'll be back!
Great support from their staff and I was able to enjoy the holiday with my family.
I would highly recommend Cycle Breaks - their preholiday customer service is excellent - they listened to what we wanted and planned us a great 4-day break. The holiday itself was brilliantly planned -
from ease of navigation to the places it took us
through and the places we stayed at. We'll
certainly be back for a different route. Thank you.
Having just returned from the Grand Tour of Suffolk we can honestly say that it has been one of the best organised and documented of all the cycle trips with several companies on which we have been over a long number of years. Mike and Andy obviously spend a lot of time planning, so that every detail and client's wish is met, that the route notes are both comprehensive and up to date, and that the eclectic range of hotels are all interesting and of very good quality. We are so impressed that we have already booked one of the Norfolk tours later this year rather than go to France. Cycle Breaks really is a company that you start off as clients but end up as friends
We booked a fairly last minute Cycle Break around Suffolk and found it extremely easy to arrange, even with a few amendments of dates & locations. We were delighted with all the accommodation - rooms & food - and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Great short break cycling in Suffolk. Our trip was well organised with good routes that visited lots of interesting villages. The Crown at Bildeston is a lovely historic hotel to stay in.
I have used cycle breaks several times now and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wonderful way to see the beautiful Suffolk countryside. Andy is such a pleasure to deal with, so responsive and goes out of his way to make sure you have a wonderful experience.
At short notice arranged an e bike ride in Suffolk. Andy could not have been more accommodating providing excellent bikes and alternative routes plus guide tips. We throughly enjoyed a 40 mile ride around the beautiful Suffolk countryside and look forward to trying some of the other locations.
Excellent service. Friendly, helpful, efficient and
knowledgeable. I will certainly be using Cycle Breaks
again. Thank you.
Cyclebreaks seemed to offer the sort of cycling holiday we were after. Contact and response throughout the period from enquiry to return from holiday was excellent. When we were trying to book the last couple of seats on a plane they were able to confirm our holiday booking very quickly. Questions were answered in good time and the documentation and GPX routes provided were very useful. They also took onboard our feedback after we got back.
We went on the Austrian 10 Lakes Cycle which was a lovely and well organised ride with good routes and nice hotels. Just the amount of cycling we wanted, leaving enough time for sightseeing etc. as well most days.
All in all a very positive experience.
