Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the user experience, citing frequent UI changes and difficulty in toggling features. Customers also expressed strong negative opinions regarding the subscription models and pricing, noting unexpected price increases, removed features, and concerns about the company's business practices. The product itself was often described as unreliable, expensive, and prone to introducing errors, with some feeling it negatively impacted their work. Some people were dissatisfied with the artificial intelligence, finding its outputs inaccurate, repetitive, and sometimes even causing unintended data changes. Conversely, a small portion of people felt the product was incredible and had transformed their workflow, especially for code exploration and for those with limited scripting knowledge.

Overpriced and they don't issue refunds.....

Overpriced and they don't issue refunds. I asked for a refund back in January of 2026 and they replied that, `we have changed our refund policies in December 2025, and according to our policies, you're not eligible for refund`. When i asked for the publicly available links that states the refund policies & rules, they clearly ghosted me. Refund policies are something that is publicly available. I had to call email my bank and do chargeback. Very upset w/ them.

No transparency, no customer service, no thing...

They suddenly increased my Pro rate by 20% without being at all transparent. I complained about it. I got a smug and patronising response that took no responsibility. I complained about that response and was told it was being passed to someone else. I got another smug and patronising response that took no responsibility. It's no wonder they've got such an appalling Trustpilot score, and reputation.

I subscribed to Cursor Pro expecting to…Unexpected extra charges despite Pro subscription

I subscribed to Cursor Pro expecting to pay the fixed monthly subscription fee. Later, I discovered that I was being charged an additional $50–$60 per month in usage-based fees without clear prior awareness. This was very disappointing because I trusted the service with my payment information for the Pro subscription, not for recurring extra charges that were not sufficiently transparent to me. When I contacted support, they explained that these were overage charges and told me they would not refund them. In my view, billing should be much clearer and users should receive stronger warnings before any extra charges are applied. This experience seriously damaged my trust in the service

Cursor AI really speeds up my workflow

Cursor AI really speeds up my workflow. Tasks that used to take a lot of time and mental effort - like navigating unfamiliar code, writing boilerplate, or doing small refactors - are now much faster. It feels like having a smart assistant that understand the codebase pretty well.

It's not perfect and sometimes the suggestions need checking, but overall it's a great tool and definitely improves productivity. I'd rate it 4/5

This Coursor is a scam, is the most ridiculous and expensive AI service on the market priced

I am extremely disappointed with my experience. After paying for a monthly Pro subscription, I was only able to send two short messages using Opus 4.6 before my credits were exhausted. This effectively cost me $80 for two messages. In comparison, GitHub Copilot Pro+ offers the same Opus 4.6 model for $40, providing enough usage to code for approximately eight hours a day for three weeks.

Cursor feels like a total scam; it is the most expensive AI service I’ve encountered, priced nearly 100x higher than similar competitors. Their 'no refund' policy is a major red flag—reputable companies that offer genuine, trustworthy services typically provide refunds. I feel like a victim of predatory practices.

Furthermore, their advertising is deceptive. When comparing models on Google Gemini or other platforms, they claim their rates are similar to GitHub Copilot, which is simply false. Charging a monthly fee that vanishes after only two inputs is fraudulent. This is, by far, the most dishonest company I have dealt with.

SCAM SCAM SCAM SAM

Scam scam scam scam. They seem to make their money getting people to sign up and then refuse refunds hours later...it took me all of 30 minutes to realise it will make projects take 3x longer instead of any faster....awful and I mean awful as in if you tell it to count to 10 it will miss 7...I can wrap my head around AI not understanding directions or commands, but to understand simple instructions but somehow miss out one section in a sequence for no reason whatsoever? Crazy. STAY AWY

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Cursor’s billing policy.

I subscribed to the annual plan expecting flexibility and fair treatment as a customer. However, after realizing that the service was not suitable for my needs, I cancelled the subscription after only a few days of use. Despite such minimal usage, the company refused to provide any proportional refund and insists on charging the full annual amount.

This is an extremely unfair and customer-unfriendly policy. Charging an entire year for a service that was used only briefly shows a complete lack of consideration for customers.

Many reputable software companies offer reasonable refund options or at least partial refunds when a subscription is cancelled shortly after purchase. Cursor’s refusal to do so creates the impression that the company prioritizes locking customers into payments rather than building long-term trust.

I strongly advise potential customers to carefully review the billing terms before subscribing, especially for the annual plan. My experience suggests that once you are charged, obtaining a fair resolution may be very difficult.

I hope the company reconsiders this policy and starts treating customers with more fairness and transparency.

Poor refund experience and unhelpful support

I recently subscribed to Cursor but quickly realized the service does not meet my needs. I tried requesting a refund, but the support keeps sending the same automated responses and refuses to escalate to a human agent.
I was told my subscription does not meet their refund eligibility requirements, even though I barely used the service. I had no choice but to cancel my subscription to avoid being charged again.
Overall, I am disappointed with their inflexible refund policy and lack of human support.

The billing is a trap

The billing is a trap. I was not aware that an on-demand usage existed and it was by default on with a cap of 200 usd. Even after I disabled the feature I got a bill the next month from the period it was already on. The AI is not worth the expenditure headache. Customer support is a bot. Just stay away from it..

The worst of the worst

This is the worst experience in development. It constantly breaks the rules and ignores prompts. It generates code however it wants, violating all the programming principles laid out in the rules. I wait two hours for the AI to become available so it can generate code, and then it crashes with an error without completing the task. The worst of the worst. 0 out of 100.

DO NOT ADD YOUR BANK ACCOUNT!!

DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION!! NO MATTER WHAT THE DISCOUNT IS, USE YOUR CREDIT CARD!!!
The reason they want bank account information is so that disputing is MUCH harder, and they can overcharge with impunity. I had a spending limit of $1, and that limit was removed BY THEM so that they can continue to charge me additionally.

Paid $233.55 in 5 days, currently on a "Free Plan" with zero support.

I am beyond disappointed with Cursor. I have been a loyal user, but their billing department is practicing what I can only describe as predatory and illogical "double-dipping."

The Situation:
I paid for a Pro Monthly subscription 5 days ago. Two days ago, I accidentally clicked the Yearly Pro upgrade. I reached out within 24 hours to correct the mistake and switch to Pro+.

The Insanity:
Even though I had already paid for the current month through my monthly sub, Cursor "cancelled" my accidental yearly plan but refused to refund the first month ($16), claiming it was "used." How can I "use" a second subscription for the same time period I already paid for?

Worse yet, after their "fix," I have been downgraded to a Free Plan. I have paid a total of $233.55 in less than a week, and I currently have ZERO Pro features.

The Support:
Support (Micah) has been repeating robotic scripts about "policy" while ignoring the fact that they are literally double-charging a student for a single week of service. I am in the middle of a time-sensitive, graded project and I am currently locked out of the tools I paid hundreds of dollars for.

Verdict: The AI is great, but the billing and support are a total trap. If you make a single click-error during checkout, expect them to keep your money and revoke your access. Use a competitor with better ethics until they fix their billing logic.

Switched to Annual Plan Without My Consent — Refund Denied

I have been a loyal monthly Ultra subscriber for months, using Cursor as a core part of my daily development workflow. One day I noticed my account had been switched to an annual plan without my explicit confirmation, and a large amount was charged to my card.
When I contacted support, I was told: "Downgrading from the annual Ultra plan to monthly is not possible once you have recorded usage."
I never chose to switch to an annual plan. I still had approximately 33-40% of my monthly usage remaining when this happened. I never authorized an annual commitment — especially one of this financial size.
I genuinely love Cursor as a product and have no desire to leave. But being locked into a plan I never agreed to, and being denied any resolution, has seriously damaged my trust.
I hope the team reconsiders and finds a fair solution.
